Exactly said this myself too in the transfer thread.. the buyback clause seems to be our way of doing things.. West Ham and Newcastle might be able to outbid us on a normal transfer fee, but will they give Chelsea the option to buy him back?? this is where our bid could be more appealing to Chelsea

I’d be happy with either him or delap do prefer broja though as he just has. Electric pace for a big striker he’s got it all really. whatever we do I just hope it’s not loans, do we really want to disrupt our team every season and be looking to replace the loan ? I hope we learned from the broja loan last season that it’s not ideal plus I thought the point in going for kids was to also buy cheap and sell at a profit

I really don’t get why everyone thinks delap would only be a loan? he’s in the same boat as Lavia and bazunu. Even if they didn’t sign haaland I doubt he would have seen much game time they would have probably played false 9 over him getting time.. now they have the hottest striker of the moment delap’s time will be extremely limited . see no reason we can’t get a similar deal with a buyback

Chez as someone who has watched him a lot if you could compare him to another player? Who is he most like ?

We can offer buybacks that the other clubs probably won’t though, which could make it a lot more enticing for Chelsea

Just wondering if there could be a slight chance in us getting broja, if we are still interested I could see us going for a similarly structured buy back as to what we are doing with the bazunu Lavia deals, this could be more appealing to Chelsea then just selling to Newcastle or West Ham with no buy back ? to be honest I do think we might have moved on and delap looks the no brainer replacement but it would be great

The only one I might actually stretch to using a loan is cole palmer as I don’t think city would actually sell him.. seems the most highly rated of the whole bunch.. mcatee could maybe still be available so wouldn’t surprise me if we even get him. im actually starting to find this approach quite exciting now stock piling a load of the greatest youth players we are bound to get some diamonds

I really think we can get him on a perm.. he’s in the same position as Lavia and bazunu were really probably even less chance of him breaking through with haaland at city plus often they don’t really play a big cr anyway.. I actually hope we don’t go down the loans option again personally if we are devoloping these youngsters we want to be making profit from it too that should be the whole point in going for youngsters. broja was great and did help us last year but it’s frustrating that we were just putting him out of our price range by playing him

Don’t see the need for a loan with delap, he’s not gonna be a first choice starter with city,, odd cup game at best really.. offer them a decent 15-20 m with a buyback at about 50-60 if he turns out totally world class they can have him back.. if not they got the 15-20 from us ?

If we are really giving up on broja, I think Liam delap stands out a mile and we really should try and get this done, big powerful goal scorer looks a bit James Beattie like in a way 15-20m and a 50-60m buyback I can’t see why city would say no. Haaland totally blocks his pathway and they also signed alvaraz We should be all over this one

Yeah it looks like we are starting from the back and adding at least one player in each position through the spine of the team.. it’s the strikers and number 10 we really need to get right though we need major surgery there

Ralph made a comment like we didn’t have the money at the time.. maybe If we hadn’t signed AA we could of got broja on a perm? anyway very frustrating if he goes to West Ham we want to be getting the benefits out of these type of deals not just alerting other clubs

I think a move for Liam delap seems a no brainer, haaland coming in at city will totally kill his chances of breaking through and playing more then a couple of cup games.. I see no reason why we can’t get him with maybe a buyback inserted

To quote my own post just wanted to add. That people think we play an attractive exciting brand of football is also a absolute myth.. don’t know what games you watching. Once broja is gone our current attacking options in the 10 positions and up front are verging on totally disgusting.. AA adams and long between them would struggle to finish a wank.. and then we have redmond eloyounoyssi walcott etc who offer zero creativity.. it’s scary how we can even get close to solving this problem atm Ralph has allowed this to happen on his watch..

We have been absolute garbage for the whole backend of last season and the majority of this, barring a blip of form just after Xmas. His tactics are simply not working, we don’t look anywhere close to improving under Ralph’ I’d even say after how exciting both broja and livremento looked when they arrived both seem to be going massively backwards under his tutelage.. Can give all the excuses about our spending but we need someone in charge that can analyse our weaknesses know what needs doing and get the right personal or tactics to make it work. don’t see any of this happening at the moment, it looks like we are flogging a dead horse with this continued support of Ralph we look like relegation waiting to happen

But these are players Ralph has chosen to keep and give a ton of game time too, he chose to keep long over the likes of gabbi.. redmond and bednarek have been firm favs of his.. this is his side

I don’t think we would have got relegated without him anyway so not sure about really gaining. And it is possible his presence in the team could have stopped the likes of tella or someone else stepping in.. overall though it’s frustrating to see such a top talent like broja just pass through and we make nothing financially.. Ralph did say at one stage we couldn’t afford broja at start of season.. but maybe we did our money on Armstrong instead ?

Why? If they are getting haaland chances of delap breaking through for them is looking bleak. But I’d rather we concentrate on players that will benefit us in the long run, not raising the value of players for other clubs like we did with broja.. I thought the whole point of buying youngsters was for buy low sell high potential.. if it’s only a loan it doesn’t really give us any gain and then we are left with a hole to replace

He looks perfect for our model..but let’s at least get a option to buy this time.

Very strange how we are so streaky under Ralph. Managed to pull off a couple of unexpected results over Xmas then looked great for a couple of months but now seem to be reverting to type. For me his time here has been that of a average manager.. I believe if we had the right man in charge we could actually push for Europe . With the wrong one we could go down he is somewhere in between but can look very stubborn and naive sometimes

I think the three positions we need to strengthen are 1 striker to replace broja, would love to get him but unlikely. Whoever it is let’s hope it’s someone who can strike a football with a bit of finesse as at the moment we only have 3 scuffy finishers in AA che and long.. from the kind of players we have been going for delap from city could be a realistic shout 2 a number 10. Whilst it’s good that elyounoussi has finally managed to get redmond out of the team we could still do with someone with a ton of creativity . Could you imigine the difference in our attacking play if we had a prime lallana now.. stuey is great but we could still do with another that could really make a huge difference 3 cb.. need to upgrade on Stephen’s and Bednarek.a good partner for salisu would help a lot

I think broja will be an amazing player and would absolutely love us to sign him permanently. but for how things are at the moment I think if we don’t think we can persuade him or Chelsea into a permanent deal and with out current league position it might be better to try and get Adam Armstrong firing instead of giving broja a place every week, Armstrong will be here next season and it’s looking like broja will not. I think Armstrong could still come good he’s got fast acceleration and can finish the goal he scored va Everton early in the season was a glimpse of what he could do with the right service if we gave him a run of games now we could find out how our situation of life without broja will be in the summer., if AA can show some form now it would be a lot less worrying
