I find this is a bit hard to believe though.. he was good enough at World Cup.. good enough to score past Chelsea good enough to get a hatrick vs spurs.. he’s proven himself against premiership clubs in the europa .. fitness issues maybe, maybe a fall out but I don’t think this is ability related even though he looked a bit off the pace in the couple of games he did play

What the hell is going on with Orsic anyway.. this guy looked everything we wanted .. World Cup semi finalist, scored cracking goals against likes of West Ham Chelsea and hatrick vs spurs., why is he being totally isolated out of the team and nobody even seems to bother asking what’s going on with him ? must be something dodgy behind the scenes here ..

As I was saying the other day ..selles team selections are extremely questionable to say the least .. he seems to be getting a better tune out of our bunch.. but .. Jesus Christ this is a game where we can be on the front foot and you think it’s a good idea to start elyyoufuckingnoussi….how many times do you have to watch us to realise this guy isn’t gonna create shit isn’t gonna score or make any attacking impact on the game .. one of the main reasons I thought Ralph had lost the plot was this .. and here we are again. atm I think this is where we are at.. we are better in games like Man Utd or Chelsea where we expect nothing . And therefore the onus isn’t on us to create anything, . Games where the onus is on us we suffer because our whole attack is totally bullshit, we then keep picking players who are proven in being totally bullshit and we cannot break down anyone who is set up . if we go behind, forget about it.. how many open play goals have we scored in the league this season ? Single digits I’d guess.. jwp freekicks is pretty much all we have

To answer your question I’d even take it back further then this years transfers. Salisu for example was seen by practically every one as our first choice centre back we then signed ABK who started great and also Caleta Carr. by this stage bednarek is like our 4th choice cb at best and no one cared when he went to villa then you have likes of Walcott elyounoussi.. same kind of thing we have signed likes of sulamana orsic (god knows what’s going on behind the scenes with him), edozie stuey is another good option .. but here we are going back to Walcott. and then finally there’s che, yes we all know he has some good aspects to his game and that finishing is not one of them he has uses, but everybody and his dog knew we needed a striker upgrade we all spent all January crying about it .. jones knew it Rasmus knew it the fans knew it . but after what 2 or 3 starts ? Onuachu is already out of the side and we are back with che again .. maybe he’s not good enough ? But it’s too early to know really main point is all these team selections on paper look kind of like moving backwards instead of forwards .. doubt bednarek would be getting a look in under Ralph for example . it could also be that maybe selles wants more experience from players who have been there and done that for the relegation battle.Where I suppose that makes sense as jan,walcott and che do have a lot of premier league experience . you know as long as the results are coming in,, we are gonna be happy with whoever he’s starting and the results validate his selections .. but I think deep down the points above do stand and people would be quick to point out the above if we went on a terrible steak

Well us forum members have been watching the likes of bednarek adams elyounoussi etc to know they are not really the answer… when jones started picking janny B he was getting murdered on here for that decision …. whilst the results are coming in it’s fine and we can’t really argue with the selections but you would think the likes of salisu and caleta Carr were upgrades over janny.. on paper it’s a bit of a smack in the face to our transfer activity that now we bring him Walcott adams moi (not this week) back and looks a bit going backwards . but as long the points are coming in he has license to do what he likes

Interesting thing here with selles is he’s managing to pick quite a lot of unpopular players which most of us would usually be against don’t think many of us would have been choosing theo janny b even bringing adams back in over the supposed striker we bought to save our season.. but as long as he’s getting the results I guess it’s ok

I know it’s unfashionable to say but at least jones was getting closer to playing decent formation 433 and moi was dropped ..and he also did try to make tactical changes and subs even if they didn’t work.. selles lineups seem a bit of a backwards step if that’s possible moi back in,still playing shitnarek anyway promising player like Alcaraz dropped in the league games .. for me at least the lineups and tactics is more depressing then njs

On the eye test stuey is light years ahead of moi.. stuey is one of our best ball carriers is intelligent can pop up with goals and is better with ball retention then moi .. over the last few years when fit he’s been one of our most important players I’ve never heard anyone compliment moi like he’s one of our key players

Does absolutely nothing, ghost of a player.. I’d prefer AA or Walcott even in the attacking 10 positions .. when you see moi name on the team sheet you just know your gonna struggle to create anything

Guess you could argue edozie looks more promising at this stage, at least he has been very good with his one on one dribbling, whilst I’m not sure I’ve been impressed with anything from bazunus game. He’s more just come here with hype the same as Angus Gunn and been quite a big let down and also a liability currently.. wouldn’t really say edozie has been any worse then any of our other tens I’d prefer him over moi. main point I was trying to make with this though is it just seems like bazunu gets continuously played no matter how bad he performs at the moment it’s been pretty obvious for a good couple of months at least he’s costing us

Seems like we don’t want to drop him to dent his confidence or something .. you know players like edozie might not be ready either but he’s shown a lot more then bazunu and we are happy to drop him. it’s quite bizzare to me especially in our situation that we keep persisting with him when he’s been a liability nearly all season and hardly had a great game . this really isn’t time to mess about developing players that are not ready especially with a keeper . He needs to play this team it’s pretty obvious what our best line up Not baz kwp. ABK. Salisu. Perraud Lavia Jwp. Alcaraz stuey. Paul Sulemana I mean come on this team is the one and should pick itself an actual line up that suits us fits in our best players has Sula playing as a winger and has no complete liability’s in it

I’m starting to wonder if he’s just a Hologram .as any shot at him goes through him like one . It’s absolutely nuts that he still gets played week in week out. Leeds we’re way better then us .. the way they managed to get in down the sides and cut balls back was different league to anything we came up with.. how many times did we do that .. our attacking set up was really terrible couldn’t put anything together like mentioned above, no one showing for the ball no out balls .. a few times stuey was driving down the flank on his own with no support or pass on so just had to keep running . also thought the point in the January window was to strengthen .. instead we have Orsic not making the squad,Alcaraz on the bench . Sulemana and Paul not lasting 70 mins and also not clicking/being used properly .. and we are reverting back to having pointless moi and janny B back playing which is actually going backwards shockingly disjointed today.. don’t we actually practice ideas at processing the ball in dangerous areas.. it’s like there was no plan and no one knew where to be or where to run

For me a lot of question marks over the team selection too. Cortese was fantastic though Marcus gave him the keys to run the club how he wanted and you gotta say he did phenomenal.. even the koeman era was imo a offproduct of the solid foundations he laid. It took a while for the work to be destroyed .. Poch,mitchell everything he brought to the club,we really had it good under him .. I still find it weird fans kinda dismiss him as just someone who spent someone else’s money and that he hardly gets any credit

But better how? The job at Salzburg is probably no more impressive then gerrard at rangers really is it ..? he done poorly at Leipzig who are a very strong club and failed at leeds if he struggled with those two clubs who are both in better shape then us what makes it likely that he will do well with us ? also if we are honest he looks worse then Ralph pre saints .. and I wouldn’t wanna go back to a Ralph 2.0 style either

What’s good about him though? He’s failed at Leipzig and didn’t last until Xmas and then got sacked at our relegation rivals. Plus considering Salzburg have won the league 9 times in a row that’s not particularly impressive either tbh.. after pretty much failing at Leeds and Leipzig though I can’t really see the attraction ?

Find it hard to get excited about this one didnt last until Xmas at Leipzig ( so did a much worse job then Ralph ) then sacked at Leeds. Not sure what’s the selling point here ?

Having the World Cup break wasn’t really gonna get rid of the flaws like turning che into a clinical striker or make our uncreative wingers creative suddenly.. let’s be honest this was the worse Southampton strikeforce we have had since we have been in the top flight.. we could have done with getting our business done early but we didn’t and have had to limp along as we were I don’t think there’s a magic wand for that

Pellegrino had a good 5-6 months in charge though. So it was really evident it was a lost cause.. personally I don’t think we are that stage with jones yet.. it’s only been a month Sure results have been poor so far but we all know we had glaring holes with no clinical strikers, lack of creativity in the side and a goalkeeper who cant save anything.. we all wanted a striker on the first of January but it didn’t happen until the end of the window. I think this squad pre transfers was worse then what pellegrino had to deal with actually… after his outburst last weekend he’s promised to do things his own way now, no more excuses.. two new signings let’s see what he can now
