  1. Can be at the wagon works pub ( used to be the home tavern) right opposite the train station.. at whatever time you are ready mate . just say a time and we will be there . Steve and Damon . thanks
  2. can anyone pick 2 of us up from eastleigh? ...willing to share costs of petrol etc
  3. To be honest the team that AP inherited would struggle to win the Blue square southern league given that they were collectively and in general far too lightweight and inexperienced. Those that wont be making the 1st eleven now can benefit from learning their trade and building up their confidence either on loan somewhere or in the reserves. Its been mentioned elsewhere that we now have approx 36 players.. far too many and i can see AP off loading as many as he can as soon as he can. Now that we have bought some steel and experience we should see the likes of Morgan and Adam flourish and see the best of what they can offer . I can help feeling though that we are still one centre back and a tough tackling workhorse midfielder short of a being a very good side. FWIW i reckon Lee Holmes is very much in APs mind once the fragileness of our midfield has been addressed..
  4. Lets not hide from the simple fact that yesterday could quite easily have been 6 or 7 goals against if it wasnt for Kelvin .. we have a couple of usefull full backs and good strength up front.. but the rest of the team are getting steam rollered and bullied ...this league has no place for inexperience and timidness..and we had that in abundance at huddersfield. Unless we get 2 strong centre halves and at least two decent experienced ball winning leaders in the middle we will not be challenging for anything this season and may struggle to stay up. The midfield yesterday was a complete joke defensively AND offensively. Rant over !
  5. Remember when our tunisian guy ( Tahir )sliced Kieran Dyer in half with a clumsey tackle late in the game against Newcastle at St Marys >> ?? It put Dyer out of the England squad for the forthcoming championships and a lot of saints fans ( and others around the country ) slated him for it .... me ?? ....never !! ...he was a saints player trying his best for my club!
  6. I was in the Paras and worked with the Royal Hampshires in Portugal in the late 70s /early 80s...we were the first british troops to work in Portugal for over a century so the carpets were laid out for us big style! Was a good feeling working alongside my county battalion for a few weeks... felt gutted when they lost there proper identity due to a shake up of all the battalions. There was great number of saints fans in the battalion in them days..also a sprinkling of the blue few lol ...but a terrific battalion non the less .. Now the POWRR they deserve a great reception in Southampton .. hope they get one ...im sure they will !!
  7. Has anybody thought that it may be Tony Adams himself putting the money on .. he must surely know that he has no realistic chance of getting the job however he could be just marketing himself ( bigging himself up) to keep his name in the media for any other post that may be more suitable?
  8. one things for sure ... the managerial appointment ( and length of contract ) will speak volumes about the rate of intent to progress. I personally would hope that keegan is offerered the job ..it seems that strachan wants at least a years time out before considering getting back into football
  9. FWIW MLT yesterday stated on SSN that he " wondered how those in the the corridors of power of the FL could sleep at night" ...or words similar...this to me indicates that further sanctions were almost definate..despite what the FL statement says ..or tries to say in a very carefully scripted way ... Bastards !
  10. SFC with Hoddle = minus MLT ... he hates the man with a passion !!
  11. Im sure I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that others were wanting a slice of the action alongside and with the present pinnacle bid but were turned away by them.. I wonder if thay are now " on board " ?? hmm??
  12. yep ...id go with all these being involved.. but not sure we would need a DOF with MLT on board.. but KK to have a role to play .
  13. I was commanding an armoured personally carrier travelling from Osnabruck to Hohne ranges in germany... had my HF radio tuned into BBC world service when it was announced that KK had signed for us .. I f***ing went ballistic with joy and my crew wouldnt believe what i had heard.. bet them all a pint that it was true .. it was a freezing night ...but i glowed through it all .
  14. Dont know the answer to that one but fondly remember being " in that number" in the park opposite the goldstone ground where bedlam pursued before and after Saints had beat them 2-1 in a FA cup round many many moons ago.
  15. Terry Paine is a second cousin of mine.. The first time i saw him play live was versus West Ham a couple of months after England had won the world cup in 66.. we thrashed them 6-2 at a packed to the rafters Dell ! ..and the Hammers had Moore , Peters and Hurst playing!! Even tho hes family ive never met him unfortunately.. would love to pick his brains about them days tho...
  16. the clue was used in a 3-2-1 sketch ( ted rogers) .. and indicated towards "Music Maestro"..and in the game show the contestents rejected a car called a Maestro ....however does the clue in this case indicate and further fuel the idea it may be Andrew Lloyd Webber or an equally famous musician?? Good game Good game !!
  17. Someone from the Rolling Stones???????..
  18. FWIW Paul Wotten seemed genuinly upset on Radio Hants about todays performance and embarked on big style fighting talk about the remaining games.. Good on you Paul !! ...he called the upcoming Palace game as one of the biggest games of his life.... he called on saints fans stop thinking that we already down.... COZ WE AINT !
  19. I thought he looked sharp and hungry .. he would certainly have scored if mcgoldrick had squared a ball to him instead of going for goal himself... I also felt he was looking always to play off the last man when liptak came on late in the game to profit from his aerial power... the combination looked dangerous and watford started to struggle to cope with the high balls being thrown in .
  20. Was proud to be in that number tonight...absolutely mental celebration when we equalised but sobered down quickly when they missed a sitter at the death... Jason Eaull missed a sitter a minute before they went in front but worked his socks off...saga looked sharp when he came on ...a fair result in the end.
  21. if im not mistaken this is the most local away game left for the season .. would love to see as many saints fans get their asses up there to shout the lads on as we had at dellhurst park during the great escape year . COYR
  22. Terry Paine scored the goal against Orient that first put us in the top flight.
