  1. That's my view too, and it's good to see they aren't hiding and shirking responsibility. I had an ex-coach as a colleague once and he highlighted how a particular player (not Saints) was "hiding" by the positions he took up and it's the sort of thing I've noticed since then.
  2. Well, they're fellow football fans. It's part of the illness for all fans..
  3. Quoting from Emery after the game last night..: “I have been told of their interest and I pretty much don’t have more news than that. There is no offer, which in any case would have to come via the club. So there’s no more beyond that [which would make] me say I’m going.” From the article I read:
  4. Greener pastures? 🙂 Ok, I'll certainly give you better paid.. That's why we need to win on Friday!
  5. No, next time..
  6. So it wasn't that biased an edit then! Thanks.. 🙂
  7. Beat Villa 4-0. Highlights on the OS. Tella scored a penalty, Lewis Payne got 2. It's a club edit so difficult to tell but not much from Villa..
  8. From what I saw of the game tonight there was an awful lot of hoof ball from both sides, and Villa looked really disjointed. What was Ings ostensible reason for joining them again?
  9. Thanks, fortunately I'm heading East past enemy territory..
  10. Get soaked and miss the last train home..
  11. 🙂 !
  12. I presume ex-footballers become commentators when they don't want to do the hard work getting their coaching badges. Mind you, I watched a bit of a programme the other day whilst I was looking for a Saints stream where two ex-pros (I think..) were dissecting Manchester United's (non) performance against Liverpool. It was quite detailed stuff but also highlighted and contrasted for me how well Saints do their press. I was very late in learning to drive but I could still tell who was and wasn't a good driver! Obviously more experience in any field enables a more detailed critique, but you don't have to be a professional in anything to be able to comment in at least a slightly informed manner.
  13. I mentioned this on my football team's chat last night and I hope we can get a group together to go, I certainly shall but it's more difficult as they're mainly Pompey fans and heading west is difficult for them!:-) As for the troll, he's one of the very few people I've ever put on ignore in 25+ years on the internet, so I always appreciate it if he isn't quoted. From the threads he starts you'd think he was all for BLM, LGBT and the like, plus he posts on women's football. Unfortunately his only inputs are negative, disparaging and disruptive and can even be personal (hence the ignore).
  14. You clearly maybe weren't there! 🙂
  15. Good point. We might have a strong bench! For all we like to theorise about team line-ups we don't know the background details like fitness, people carrying knocks and so forth. For all I sometimes find any managers' decision strange, whether line-ups or subs, I do accept that there may be reasons I don't know about..
  16. Except he was playing a Premier League team and has played other such games and hasn't looked out of place. Some of us older fans ( I can't remember if you qualify!) will remember players who patently weren't. Mention (as an example) Lee Todd to such a fan and they will wince.. So I thought he played well, considering also his lack of recent opportunities, and he's a good enough player that you don't groan when you see his name on the team sheet. I've known plenty of those!
  17. Yep, I'd agree with that summary. I didn't think Smallbone would take quite such a bad penalty but I called the Walcott one. Good to see Smallbone back on the pitch though. But as for the game we did well and I can't be bothered to go back in the thread to see the usual moaners, I can see enough on this last page. I thought Lyanco was a revelation, and the best bit was that he seemed to be enjoying himself and making the effort. Just before the game I was watching an analysis of Manchester United and their lack of pressing: we may not have the ultimate skilled players but ours do put in the effort and they're well drilled too. I was muttering about how Chelsea could bring on Mount and we bring on Long, but I thought he had a decent game. Walcott I'm afraid no longer has it and was less effective. I'm not too upset about that loss. We made more changes than they did and reckon they'll be mightily relieved. I may be grumpier after the Watford game..
  18. Rope, carabiners, abseiling? Have you tried Twitter? I'm not on it but does have its uses in these situations.
  19. Ooh, you cynical Saints fan you! 🙂 Wouldn't it be nice to get a thumping win and all the kids get the bug. Don't worry, they'll soon learn like we have..
  20. Who remembers Bodo from their O level Geography? Bodo/Glimt are 6-1 up against Roma in the Europa Conference. 😃 Mourinho is working on his excuses and who to blame as I write..
  21. Never prepare your tweet in advance! 😆
  22. I'd say he developed Lambert tremendously. He'd never played at the top before (ISTR) and I suspect never took things as seriously as he should, but once he did with us was when he progressed and never looked out of place in the top division (or the national side!).
  23. I don't think any of you are alone in these thoughts. It occurred to me that perhaps KWP is a victim of his own versatility in that he's a great sub to bring on for either full back, whether for energy or injury reasons. I've been mildly surprised it hasn't happened on one or two occasions.
  24. Yes, but I didn't know anything about him and the link I got was exactly the information I was looking for...
  25. Cheers, sorry for my laziness but I knew someone would know.
