Ok.. them too. π But your point about professionalism and development is an interesting one. It hasn't been worth investing too much personal capital and effort in football as the returns have never been there, nor the support, whether in professional coaches or other support, so that you can do extra training and not get a Saturday job, for example. None of this applies to me: I never even had a volunteer coach until I was about 46/7, but having never been very blessed with coordination or sporting ability at least I don't think I've missed the opportunity. Still love training and playing though, and seeing the opportunities now brings a great smile to my face. Whilst I'm here: team in the Havant area looking for players and particularly a keeper as ours is off to uni.. Contact me!

Why not, I remember Keegan!

I'd agree with this, and the speed with which it has been done after the end of the season looks like it has been planned for a while. I suspect under Gao there were no funds for a shake up and mid-season wasn't the time to do it. Now for a re-shaping of the team, and then we'll be in a better position to assess RH. I have to say that when we were playing well we were a delight to watch but... If we cut out the worst of the errors and get some backroom staff who can instill better concentration and organisation in certain situations we might do a lot better.

I believe that 'nightmare' is the correct technical term.. Anyway, try and include the coaches going, that may soften it a bit.

Behave and don't do that to us! Thought my eyes were misbehaving..

I notice that you don't say he is the slowest and that's his saving grace I feel. A bit more strength would serve him well as he's not a hopeless case, like Djenepo, for example.

What about his distribution??

Have you seen the ferry prices? We couldn't raise a side for a fixture over there this past season as we no longer have contacts for getting a discount!

Radio Solent being slightly more complimentary today. Can't get the link to work on Firefox..

I'm off to see if Radio Solent have anything..

I'd agree with your general analysis. I'd add that you don't want to bring a young player into a struggling side, and we are definitely struggling. Pre-season might be interesting though. I think with Romeu you are right and as Steve Grant says in The Guardian article, his legs are beginning to go. He's far too intelligent and professional player not to recognise this and he'd do well in a less frantic league, like Steve Davis has done.

This week I've had a number of events coinciding which means quite a few drinks consumed and an impact on my liver, so I need to take it easy. I've promised myself a beer if we win though, so should be safe..

Can you make up a set of bingo cards, then we could all play?

I agree, and I bloomin' well hope so. Only that when they have been playing well this season they've been a class above anything shown under Puel. All I can say is that we need improvement all round, but as Manchester United and Watford, two ends of the spectrum, have shown just changing the manager doesn't always help when the underlying situation undermines them.

Yes, I'd have preferred Adams starting, the other two benefitting more from not playing the full 90. The only reason I can see is Tella's pace but it would have been better used being closer to Broja. I get excited about new signings: my natural optimism I suppose. But I want to be _really_ excited this summer! π

Last chance perhaps? Some largely absent pace? I think Romeu and Armstrong have been looking tired recently: the latter since he came back from injury seems to have lost that burst of speed that took him past players. He's tried it and failed quite a number of times. But certainly they should have come on earlier and our passivity was worrying. I believe Tella was at Arsenal. He's probably one of those players they let go whilst assuring him that he'd make the grade in the professional game "somewhere in the lower divisions".. I think we missed Perraud and Livramento more than we might imagine, but I still don't know why A.Armstrong hasn't had a few more chances off the bench recently. He's not one of the worst forwards we've had to put up with over the years, and I go back to before Dixon and Speedie..

From the Everton-Brentford MBM in The Guardian.. 28m ago18.51 βWhy is no-one talking about the Saints being in danger?β emails Chris. βAssume a spanking from Liverpool and they may need to get a final day result away at Leicester (if Burnley win their midweek game at Villa).β Anybody care to reply..?

As opposed to being force fed your opinions? Anyway, how do you know it's shit if you're not interested in it? Plus it engages you enough to comment. Must dash.. I'm off to a motoring forum to tell them I'm not at all interested in Formula 1.
-
It's to fool them into thinking it's the start of a new season so that they'll be all enthusiastic..

I was reading this thread and wondering when you'd turn up! π
