  1. Yep, who is the triallist? Presumably the one who played for the seconds against Wolves?
  2. If it's Pompey it won't be the Display team.. Anyway, bring back the Romsey Old Boys Band... 🙂 Thanks MLG, I was there but good to see again from a different perspective.
  3. It's amazing what a win will do to our morale! I had concerns in the last 10/15 minutes that they'd equalize but that's just my training - if I were being rational and based on the game I was watching I'd have been more relaxed.. A number of minor points. Broja getting cramp hints at why both Albania and Saints' management have been managing his appearances. Elyounoussi seems fitter and more um.. robust which enables him to use his skill more effectively. Diallo also getting stronger and you feel there is more to come. Djenepo and Redmond both frustrate occasionally because you know what they can do, and then they combined wonderfully for the goal to prove the point. Other players all improving too to the extent you wonder how long we'll keep them. Armstrong still not fully fit or sharp but it's great to have him on the way back. Burnley can be right party poopers but I'm now allowing my optimism a freer rein.
  4. Second hand innit.. Caveat emptor..
  5. I know, I know, seems odd saying that.. Chuckle.. When does Bruce leave? Who takes over the poisoned chalice?
  6. Why? Have you seen him in training?
  7. I just love Tella's smile, it makes you want to smile too.
  8. I posted this link elsewhere on Saintsweb but I think it's probably more appropriate to cross-post it here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/oct/14/mike-dean-quiz-premier-league-referee 😀
  9. Since Mike Dean gets quite a number of mentions here, let's see how you all get on with this quiz :-) : https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/oct/14/mike-dean-quiz-premier-league-referee
  10. I don't dispute some of the facts of what you're saying, but I think Victor Orban and the like have more influence on the situation than England fans "stirring up hostility". My comments were more on the one-sidedness of your post in ignoring the Hungarian fans' behaviour, and ignoring _their_ real hatred and violent behaviour. None of it is acceptable.
  11. Well, there's a certain degree of accuracy in his statement, don't you think, whatever you may think of the England fan? As opposed to the Hungarian ultras who have total and active contempt for anybody non-white. I've been at England matches both here and abroad and have been embarrassed by our fans behaviour, but in this instance perhaps you could reconsider the only target of your attack?
  12. Wince.. Mind you, Dowie scored a few goals ISTR. Paul Moody from Waterlooville, bless, couldn't fault him for effort though. Lee Powell.. ooof.
  13. Blimey! Not sure that's anything about supply though, he made it all himself.
  14. This made me chuckle, the Leicester City fan's comment on the season so far in The Guardian: "What I wouldn’t give to have prime Wes Morgan in that defence. But to be frank, any former centre-back would do."
  15. .. "some of my best friends are Jewish".. You may or may not get the cultural reference..
  16. True, but.. Rather sums up the situation. I think they learn some decent habits at Saints, and Sims, Hesketh and others have been well regarded for their skills when they go out on loan (Dan probably being an exception!) but unless they get into or close to the team early on perhaps loans earlier on would help too. We've had experience of late developers like Lambert, and let go of others who have succeeded (Ben White and others..) so all we can safely say is that it's not an exact science. On the other hand, anybody who saw Stevie Mills, Bale, Bridge, and now Livramento in their early games could immediately see that they had something.
  17. I suggest you edit your typo! 🙂
  18. Thanks for the report negium. They're certainly at a different level to teams like Keynsham particularly with regard to fitness. I'd hazard that they train a lot more than such teams who may only have one evening session a week and have difficulty fielding a side occasionally because a youngster is doing a shift at the supermarket or the like. Their number 6 (?) for example was physically and fitness wise more like some of the older defenders down where I play low in the Hampshire League and the scores can be equally wince making - we've been crushed, flattened another team with our better fitness in a second half and had one much more satisfying game where the teams were equally matched but we started with 10 because somebody was late arriving from her supermarket shift! They need to get to that higher level with better teams and better football. I'm sure the manager is keeping their feet on the ground for when the get there.
  19. Good stream on Hesgoals... bu&&er it..
  20. Problem with some of these threads is that you have to read a fair bit to understand the situation and like myself and many others you probably don't bother so I'm sure Minsk understands that. Plus if you ignore some posters it makes it even more an 'er, what?' situation!
  21. Whitey, that was Minsk being sarcastic and maybe you were too. It's hard to tell on here! There are certainly plenty of conspiracy theorists here when a player is out. When he does get back he'll add a different aspect to our play with his carrying of the ball in the final third. I sometimes think Livramento has the pace and ability to do something similar.
  22. Comment on Mike Dean in The Guardian football preview: "... Although if you had to back any official to do so, it would be Ronaldo’s fellow preening narcissist, Mike Dean." So it's a general opinion of him then..
  23. It's a pretty quick service although not so frequent on Sundays and thank goodness there's no replacement bus nonsense this weekend. I shall be on the train: do I look out for a long white beard?
  24. I'm also anti-Brexit, and energy trading in the European market has been impacted by it, but it's also the case that the current energy crisis is worldwide. We certainly could do with a windy autumn in the UK.
