LOL. Had a phone call from my GF and employee in her van. Much laughter as she'd booked a job in Southsea today and was on the way in on the motorway. Plain clothes polices cars everywhere on the motorway route in. Fortunately she has parking on the job and it should be over before the main crush. Much as I'd like to pay my respects to the veterans I don't want to grace TCWTT with my presence.

You forgot Gilchrist.

My GF, who is interested in all things helicopters, saw a formation of helicopters a few days ago which she thought was on a bearing for S.A. and identified some as US types. Lee-on-Solent is a pain to get to and lots of pinch points, Southsea is just too built up if anything happens. I can see why they might choose Soton, but they always have decoys anyway..

Without delving too far back in this thread is Unguided Missile for real?

Well, I stuck it out to the end but I shared the opinion of the two Irish Liverpool fans sat near me in the pub, it was **** and at times like Sunday morning football.

Yeah, but he'd then start catching the ball..

**** me, not another umlaut?

Close to being settled and well underway according to that. Born in 1998 so meets our requirements in that regard.

England to play Euro qualifier at St Mary's in September

I presume it will be on the telly, so make sure you all make a good noise. -
Given that they go on about their crowds, and ignoring the Sunderlands of this world they may have a point, where is all the ticket money going? Shoring up Fratton Park? Edit: just checked and they are second behind Sunderland (-14k ish) and 2k and 4k approximately above the next two teams.

I've heard that it is going to be tried out at grass roots level next season.
-
Yep, that's why Celta Vigo didn't even have him on the bench for their last match, obviously didn't want him to get injured...
-
Bale didn't get off the bench for Real Madrid in the last match of the season. That's one player I would welcome back. ;-)

More likely didn't see it..

The lass is pretty: she's probably thinking 'what a t*sser'. As to the football, hmm, let's be polite, a bit basic. At least Sunderland seemed to have spells of snappy to-feet passing with some defensive hoofs. Portsmouth _only_ had hoofs

As long as they keep off my bird feeder. At least I get fit chasing them off..

Saints U23s vs Newcastle U23s - PL 2 Div 2 Play off Final
suewhistle replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I'd say he still has some growing to do but the potential is there. I only say the last part of the game but I thought that Marcus Barnes did OK in the air against taller centre backs. Not as physically imposing as N'Lundulu but he puts himself about a bit. Incidentally isn't it nice not to have a reserve team entirely of blond midgets as in the past! -
Look at the picture in the thread; 5 happy, smiling faces. At least I think the squirrel is smiling.. Anyway, perhaps the new company is one of those crowd sourced thingummyjigs, and being Chinese it was a big crowd? It all seems a bit odd. Presumably if they are going to do a proper launch it will be after the European finals? I've heard that the Chinese government has some strategic aims with regard to football, but this all seems a bit amateurish.

I think many people on here have a poor opinion of our goal-keeping coach and head of recruitment: might they be going? ;-)

Whilst we could no doubt do with quite a number of new players I'm not sure wholesale changes over one transfer window are either possible or desirable. I was listening to some radio programme commenting on all the purchases Fulham made last summer, which at the time people thought would help them, but in retrospect it was argued that perhaps they should have retained more of the core of their team which got promotion. I think the "yeast" approach is better: a few decent players to lift the stodge of the rest of the team when the heat is on next season. We don't really want any of the loanees back (apart from having a look at Boufal I'd say) although how we're going to get rid of them I really don't know. That's ignoring people like Reed who would be an asset to some club. Goodbye Austin and Forster (somehow) and other bit part players. I'm going to retain some optimism for the summer if only because the drip of negativity from some posters on here isn't reflecting realism, they're just tedious and repetitive, and it's far better to address life with a bit of positivity.
