  1. I'm going for a siesta. Hopefully there'll be good news when I get back. If the news is good I might have to start a new tradition of sleeping through matches. Laters..
  2. Cheers for the detail. From here I can retain my optimism and think that at least he was in a good position.
  3. I'm out in Italy relying on this thread. Could you be a bit more descriptive?!!
  4. Well done Wimbledon!
  5. I'm not sure it would be wise for Charlie to go to a place with a kebab shop on every corner..
  6. I was thinking this some way up the thread. In my very limited experience of less experienced pilots like Ibbotson they don't like to turn down opportunities to get more hours in. If he was put under pressure by Mackay then I presume the AAIB have the power to obtain telephone records?
  7. Interesting read, I agree. This struck home: "And, of course, even as a young boy, he would be enlisted to help clear up the dog **** from the park so that his dad’s team could safely take to the pitch." Fortunately we were away last week and could get the home side to deal with the issue..
  8. Still the same with helicopters from what I learnt when I accompanied my GF on a training flight to the IOW. She's having a lesson tomorrow morning from Hurn and in this weather I'm a bit worried about icing: Schweitzers aren't particularly powerful. These days with larger commercial aircraft there's a bit more margin for error. When my dad started at Eastleigh and was doing the load sheets for Dragon Rapides he would note that Jersey Senator Le Mesurier was on the passenger list and ask to be sent one of the lighter captains and restrict crew baggage, please..
  9. This thread is chilling. I must admit I thought of icing earlier but I'm not a pilot - they wouldn't let me join Southampton Uni UAS back in the day and never had the money since.. But like in sailing or skiing the precautionary principle always holds good and saying NO to a dodgy situation is a very important instinct. I think it was my dad who told me that there were "old pilots, bold pilots but no old, bold pilots". He was on duty as a BEA D.O. at Manchester Airport at the time of the Munich air disaster: another aircraft that should never have tried to leave the ground after the first attempt.
  10. Ah yes, the volcano ash, wasn't it? I've never been a passenger in a light aircraft (DC-3 the smallest), but last summer went across to the IOW in a helicopter from Bournemouth on a beautiful summer's day. The procedure is to cross at the shortest distance so that in the event of engine failure you can auto-rotate to land, although there were scores of light craft around too. But a fixed wing aircraft around Jersey and its tides and in poor visibility...
  11. I saw some of the first half (not their goal) on a low quality twitter feed. I must say Sims looked the only one up to speed, and Leeds were far quicker and more physical and, I'd say, the better team. Good to see Sims scoring. From what little I saw we've seen all the lads likely to play for the first team under RH apart from Sims himself.
  12. I often disagree with what you say but on this I agree. There would be a lot more support and movement with the current set up. Given what he's said about Obafemi's professionalism I'm not sure he'd be too impressed with Clasie's fitness and smoking habit, to pick on on alehouseboy's comment.
  13. Boys, get a private room, FFS.
  14. Incidentally, who was the idiot ex-Liverpool (obviously) commentator?
  15. He's not playing well, and the worse thing is he knows it, which isn't helping his confidence either. Nobody else had an utterly bad game but the inexperience of some of the players showed, and the number of changes also had an impact. It wouldn't have taken much to have got the result. It looked like Cedric was muttering some imprecation under his breath after a bad pass out to him, but he's allowed that when he learns to put in a decent cross that doesn't go into the crowd behind the goal. I thought Gallagher showed what he might bring to the table and hope he gets another chance. He's got speed and strength and certainly his touch has improved since I last saw him play. I'm disappointed but glad we've got so many senior players to welcome back against Everton.
  16. Yeah, he got caught offside! :-) But the willingness to attack and be confident you'd be covered by your colleagues is a sight for sore eyes.
  17. If you look at it from the perspective of the club receiving the loan player they're obviously not going to play them if 1 they don't suit your playing style and 2 are likely to be recalled and therefore you don't want to make them a vital cog of your team. Both apply to Sims, I believe. Harrison Reed on the other hand is on a season long loan and has played in the cups so his playing time has been far more.
  18. Has anyone seen The9 since Newport's win? Worrying!
  19. You're writing off Slattery after seeing him on his debut? I'm bored with reading your c**p after every game. With a football fan's optimism I keep reading here but with some exceptions there's a load of antagonistic rubbish with little content and over-the-top opinions. Still, you're not as sad as larry12, where I presume the digit refers to his mental age.
  20. Tyreke Johnson featured in the training pics so I suspect he'll feature at some stage.
  21. Yes, I noticed him in the training pics, and had to think for a moment who it was. He's certainly filled out over the last year. I also noticed Tyreke Johnson training with the first team. Keeping the u-23s on their toes!
  22. Is Delph being sent off for MC good or bad for us, presuming he misses our game against them?
  23. From what I've seen of the u23s on video I'd say Tyreke Johnson has more skill and equivalent pace. MO has a certain physical robustness though, and perhaps this is what is preferred at the moment in the sheer physicality of the PL.
  24. There was a committee who discussed this issue: no award for guessing who was on it, and was even chair I believe..
