Mary Corbett felt "threatened" and "physically intimidated" by Lowe

Any chance you two could knock it off? I've seen comments from each of you that probably overstep the mark if the rules are applied as strictly as they could be. Let's all make up now shall we -
Are the Welsh a different race to the English? I'm not so sure. It's possibly xenophobic, I'd imagine.

Same. 5%. Again, a pain in the backside more than a life changer.

A few posters could do with reining in the insults a bit. Provocation can be very ugly. Cheers chaps.

It's because he's totally in my pocket, or perhaps he doesn't concern himself with the utterings of a few fans amongst a forum of a couple of thousand, most of which are nowhere near SMS on a Saturday. I don't really know. -
Thank you CB Fry. A far more elegant retort than I would have composed under the circumstances.

Word of mouth is still the best way to find decent work Stu. Get talking to some of your old work associates and see what's out there.

Genuine question; Do you think the internet, and the sudden availability of (and demand for) more and more information, has ruined football to some extent? There was a time when we'd all trundle along on a Saturday, meet up with mates, drink beer, cheer the lads, dissect the game and tactics in the pub, grab a curry and go home. We'd then read the Pink, the NOTW/Times back page on Sunday and the daily of choice on a Monday, agreeing and disagreeing with the journalists (who'd clearly gone home at half-time) where applicable. And that was it. Maybe we'd chat about the previous or the upcoming match in the pub during the week but not to the level of dissection we see nowadays. Now, with every aspect of the club under the microscope, things that wouldn't bother us before (which picture is up in what room) are suddenly contentious topics of heavy debate. Step back and think... Seriously, who cares about things like that? Which picture is up in the canteen is not going to affect the quality of the football on the pitch. In the "good old days" we didn't know the team until nigh on kick-off and we certainly didn't have access to the team sheets, the wages of the admin staff and the ins and outs of the shirt contract. Some would say that the internet has opened up the world to scrutiny, and in many ways that scrutiny is good and right, but sometimes I can't help but feel that ignorance really was bliss.

I have image rights on that.

Same. Definitely a genuine idiot at the start of the Gervais podcasts but might be playing to it a bit now. Still funny as f**k though when Gervais p**ses himself laughing at KP's idiotic comments.

This great little Golf. Would it be the very same car that shares engine, electrics, running gear, suspension, etc. with some of the Audi range?

The iPhone is not perfect but it's so much better put together than any of the Nokia offerings, both ergonomically and aesthetically. The user interface is flawless and very intuitive, with easily the best touch screen on the market. There are shedloads of applications and accessories to make it suit all elements of your life. I can't argue that it's flawed with regards to Flash player, video recording and camera quality but of those only the Flash player (or lack thereof) ever bothers me, and rumours of an Appleflash application coming soon are looking solid. Cameras on phones are only useful if you have a prang and need some pictorial evidence, or that sort of malarkey. If I want to take a picture I'll use my real camera.

It actually sounds like some of my best post-pub work.

The later ones are very good. The early version of the last shape had some gearbox reliability problems but they were done away with by the facelift model.

Blimey StL, the point of the test was simply to illustrate that if you drive any car in an economical way, it will save you fuel. The use of the Prius/M3 was to illustrate it for the thickies who can't grasp that as a concept. They weren't glossing over anything, Besides, the Pious doesn't need mocking, the figures speak for themselves.

You'll have to be careful dissing Pearson around these parts Ari'.

Southampton Chairman Rupert Lowe Rich, moron, tw*t; He's unpopular, mate.

A VW Bluemotion will better that by 20mpg.

Yes, it is, and it's perfectly adequate for 90% of things on 3G. No Flash player though and that's the only drawback. I love mine and would hate to be without it now. The WiFi feature works well and allows iPlayer and the like to work fine.

When does anyone "need" a pick-up truck as a family vehicle anyway? My suggestions; Ford Mondeo diesel - slightly dull but good all-rounder. Jaguar X type diesel - same floor and running gear as the Ford but better looks and spec. Renault Laguna diesel GT estate/hatch - brilliant, brilliant 175bhp diesel lump that's so economical. Renaultsport Megane diesel 175 - Same engine as the Laguna but superb handling and suspension 3 or 5 door available. Anything with a Pug diesel. Or think, screw it, you only live once, and get something you'll enjoy driving, rather than worrying about a few mpg.

And they're not particularly economical when held alongside a VW Bluemotion Polo (for example). I loved the TopGear "test" when a Prius was driven hard around the track, pursued - but never overtaken - by a BMW M3 and the M3 returned a better fuel economy. They weren't 'dissing' the Prius, as such, they were making the point that "how you drive", rather than "what you drive", can make a bigger difference to your fuel usage.

I was in there that night. Everywhere was rammed solid in town.
