Not really a surprise given what we know about how the Chinese government have acted. Anyway, even if the Chinese were totally transparent about the virus there would be a lag between when the virus started and when the first case went to hospital and it was identified.

It’s you that is not in the real world. Premier league clubs are buying testing machines that give results in 2.5 hours. Given that the players will be in strict lockdown in between, tested regularly and be in an expertly controlled sterile environment, AND are low risk symptom wise - the risks should be easily below what will be required in over a months time IMO.

If half the Premier league clubs go bust (which they probably will do without TV money) the NHS will suffer more through lack of tax revenue than in the unlikely event that someone gets hospitalised because of this. Sooner or later we are just going to crack on with our lives as usual and accept that some people will die from Coronavirus, just like we accept that people die in car crashes, smoking and from other diseases.

Is shoving a test in the post a “completed test” now then? Surely the results of home tests are logged onto a database somewhere when they are actually done?

If you’re trying to accurately illustrate the level of testing surely what qualifies as a test should remain consistent?

But the new definition - added on 27 April - included tests "posted to an individual at home". On 29 April, the definition was extended yet further to also encompass "tests sent to... satellite testing locations".

I totally agree that the Chinese government should take the blame for this, their wet markets are disgusting and need to be closed down. But Chinese people are being racially abused and attacked over here because of this and idiots like Trump purposely changing the name to "Chinese virus" will not achieve anything except fuel more abuse.
