  1. Whatever system you have in place some people will abuse it, wether it is big multinationals avoiding tax or dole scroungers avoiding work - it's not really that relevant.
  2. No, I just think after the next financial crash there will probably be a return to a more socialist style government. The current system is not sustainable.
  3. Don't know or care, it's not a such black or white issue. There are parts of today's society that are socialist concepts - like the NHS and welfare state which even the conservatives want in place. You can want a fairer more compassionate society with wanting a communist style government.
  4. I do agree with you though, socialism would work if there wasn't so many c@nts around. I think it does go in cycles though, today's capitalism will end up failing eventually, it's just a matter of time. The monetary system is ****ed and I expect after the next crash we will see some sort of return to socialism. Capitalism works but it needs some sort of control, you can't get that with globalisation.
  5. Were there Churches in the Bible?
  6. Bit of a dilemma over this European tour. Due to family and work commitments I will probably only be able to do 1 or possibly 2 decent sized away trips max. Do I shoot my bolt early and go to the qualifier against some far-flung nobody and risk missing a trip to an Ajax or Dortmund in the group stages. Or wait but risk Saints losing in the early stages and miss out altogether?
  7. Except it cost Marcus £15mill
  8. But CB Fry is right, next to zero chance of liquidation.
  9. Doesn't mean the punishment is not harsh. I expect in true Middle Eastern **** hole style there is more than an element of sexism and/or racism about this. I expect if the western woman had parked like that outside the home of some Arab and he posted something online she would still be the one banged up.
  10. Just because it is in a different country down't mean you have to blindly agree with it. Much of the Middle East is a backward, intolerant sh!t hole. This is just one example.
  11. Shame he's gone but with the money we have at our disposal now we should be able to find a decent enough replacement and maybe improve the team.
  12. Sarnia is obviously a complete fruit cake but at least he has confirmed what I originally thought. When the Yanks say they can't ban guns because the bad guys will keep them, they mean black guys. I guess it's understandable though for a country formed by killing the natives with guns then built up by enslaving black people using guns.
  13. It's a good job Lowe spent that cash on Schneidelin or we would have gone bust… ...Oh hold on we did. He obviously was a good buy but the scout who found him deserves the credit, not the bloke who signed the cheques that left us in League 1 in administration.

    ISIS

It's hard to deny that the current situation in Iraq and resulting rise of IS is not the direct consequence of what the U.S. and UK did. That said, Arabs are killing Arabs because they choose to do it, blaming the west is a bit of a cop out. You could argue that our past interference means we have a duty to help but I think we are better off letting them wallow in their own vile mess and leave them to get on with it.

    ISIS

What I meant is that as a military force in Iraq/Syria they could be defeated easily. If the west wanted some sort of control over the region they could easily do it with enough boots on the ground. Sure there would still be terror attacks, IEDs ect but they could be stopped from creating their own state and ruling the areas like they are. IS flourished because we ****ed up the country and left a vacume. The only way to defeat them Long term is to work with Assad and give proper support to the Kurds and Iraqi government. Plus most importantly make sure the Iraqi government treat the Sunnis fairly.
  16. This one is a classic.

    ISIS

Problem is no one else is going to want to sort out the mess we created and there is little appetite in the US or UK for another war so the situation seems doomed to just get worse and worse. It would be a piece of **** for the west to destroy IS if they wanted to, there is no will though because oil isn't a big enough factor.
  18. A number of factors but the vacume left after the Iraq war is the only reason they have grown to the size they are now. Fact is the only real concern for the U.S. and UK was the security of the oil, the rest was just left to rot. The only reason IS flourish is because many people prefer them to the Shia alternative, that is a situation our government helped create.
  19. Exactly, by helping the U.S. destroy Iraq our country has created the problem that exists today. Quote below: In order to understand why the Islamic State has grown and flourished so quickly, one has to take a look at the organization’s American-backed roots. The 2003 American invasion and occupation of Iraq created the pre-conditions for radical Sunni groups, like ISIS, to take root. America, rather unwisely, destroyed Saddam Hussein’s secular state machinery and replaced it with a predominantly Shiite administration. The U.S. occupation caused vast unemployment in Sunni areas, by rejecting socialism and closing down factories in the naive hope that the magical hand of the free market would create jobs. Under the new U.S.-backed Shiite regime, working class Sunni’s lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. Unlike the white Afrikaners in South Africa, who were allowed to keep their wealth after regime change, upper class Sunni’s were systematically dispossessed of their assets and lost their political influence. Rather than promoting religious integration and unity, American policy in Iraq exacerbated sectarian divisions and created a fertile breading ground for Sunni discontent, from which Al Qaeda in Iraq took root.

    ISIS

The international community need to take this thing more seriously, air strikes on their own is going to achieve very little. The problem is there is little political will in the US and UK after Iraq and no one else is ever arsed about anything.
  21. He's got a point, by invading Iraq the British government effectively created ISIS.
  22. Most big clubs have a history of winning stuff but having won stuff years ago doesn't make a club big, just more successful. A bit irrelevant in this thread though because Liverpool are bigger, more successful, richer and better than Saints.
  23. yet you continue to click on the same thread
  24. No, this thread is about America's gun problem. Police having guns is not the main problem (although it appears how and when they use them is an issue). The UK police have guns because in some circumstances an armed response is appropriate. The problem in the US is f*ckwits, criminals and the mentally disturbed being able to easily get their hands on a stockpile of guns designed for military use and as much ammo as they please - that's the heart of the problem.
