Exactly, whenever I have gone in the corporate section one of the highlights is listening to anecdotes from the old pros and their views on the game. Plus people like Le Tiss and Lawrie Mac are always in the media and have contacts throughout the game - how does alienating them benefit SFC in any way at all?
-
I actually think it would make commercial sense to let Channon, Rodrigues or Neimi have the occasional freebie, they might even be able to shift a few of those empty corporate seats if there were a few interesting people mincing about upstairs.
-
or for someone paid to comment on football he was just doing his job. If you remember rightly Le Tiss just wanted to BUY some tickets for the Man U game for his friends and was refused.

Agree with every word.

Cortese kisses and makes up with the Sun

So you admit we might come 4th, thank you, at least we both agree CL qualification is possible. If there is one thing the PL has shown us is that things can change, Chelsea's Russian and City's arab could walk away next season leaving them screwed. UEFA might bring in new rules re: wages/turnover/foreign players etc. You never know what is around the corner. -

They still qualified though, and according to some people you have to spend £200 million to do that. -

Why is it possible for Everton to reach the CL and not us? -

Good interview, love his ambition and ruthless streak. Just needs to get over his problem with the legends (Matt le tiss wasn't even allowed to BUY a few extra tickets last year). Looks like he's learning about using the media though so that is encouraging signs. -
Hope this is not true, would be sh!t having to get the bingo bus. Half the fun is getting p!ssed up in town and catching the football special, which usually resembles one of the Aushwitz trains. Anyway, the trouble at this fixture traditionally involves the local skate street urchins smashing up their own neighborhood and fighting with Police - I don't see how forcing Saints fans onto coaches is going to stop that.

The opening post said staying up would be our only realistic aim, I was the one pointing out that European football would be the aim.
-
I don't for one moment think we will do a Man City or Chelsea, but you don't need to spend billions aim for Europe, as Stoke and Fulham have proved. With a well run club and modest investment we could be knocking on the Europa door EASILY. The lack of ambition in some Saints fans is astounding. THank god we have someone like COrtese running the club instead of some hobbit like Sotonian.
-
You obviously don't have the faintest idea what you are talking about. The fact that we are secure financially means will be able to be MUCH bolder in the transfer market than when we were previously in the Prem even if the owners don't want to invest huge amounts. If you think are situation will be the same as when we had smaller Sky payments, shareholders to appease, £2mill a year mortgage payments to make and a tightwad in charge you are retarded.
-
Exactly, Southampton FC has NEVER had the chance to realise it's full potential. We've either been restricted by the Dell or later by being a PLC and being run by people without a pot to **** in. We shifted 50,000 tickets EASILY for a Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Carlisle FFS, I think many people will be surprised at what the club can become given the chance. There is more money down South than up North and the demographics of football have changed considerably. Wwe could easliy be up there tucked behind the big clubs.
-
If Fulham and Stoke can get into Europe even the most small minded Saints fan must believe it's possible for us to do the same. If we get promoted and Cortese and co are still running the show, we will be a million miles away from what we had with Rupert.
-
I expect Europe will be the aim, not staying up. Some Saints fans need a change of mindset, we are owned by Billionares now, we do what we want.
-
Nothing wrong with getting ****ed and having a laff.
-
Surely the person who designed it during the war holds the copyright?
-
has to be Aldershot, but a trip to The Emerates would be nice.
-
Cortese will aim for the Champions League. I think people underestimate how ambitious he is.
-
I heard the same from someone at Bournemouth. Mitchell wouldn't sell because they didn't have a pot to pee in.
-
There is no doubt despite a few small mistakes Cortese is doing a great job but only plebs sing the name of a chairman. If we go up it is Adkins and the players that are the heros, Cortese deserves credit for choosing him but Adkins is the talent behind the team doing so well. Cortese is just a businessman trying to make money.
-
It's not nonsense, football is not cheap and nowadays it's a luxury many people cannot afford on a regular basis. Of course the glory hunters will be swarming back when we go up but that doesn't mean many fans who would usually go are not. I think you will find attendances in the slums up north have been hit harder than down here.

Singing "The Saints are going up" in September.
aintforever replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Agree, singing "by far the greatest team the world has ever seen" is way more realistic. Really, who cares? -
I'm sorry but I've seen the footage a hundred times and the towers clearly give way where the fires and impacts were, the first tower to come down even leans towards the side where the plane hit. The second comes down straighter because the plane hit dead on and obviously took out most of the central core. To suggest those floors were rigged with explosives that somehow could stay intact during the plane strike and fires and then be correctly detonated an hour later is nonsense. The pic of the pentagon shows what a huge target it was, you don't need to be a genius to see that and push down on the controls. To hit it at a specific point and angle would be very hard but these guys didn't care where it hit. The only possible conspiracy theories IMO are: 1. The Yanks knew a bunch of rag-heads had something planned but let them get on with it knowing that any attack would suit their agenda. OBL cottoned on and went for the nuclear option. This would explain any foreknowledge and also Bush's sheepish reaction to being told. He was probably expecting them to just do a standard hijack. 2. A small rougue group of agent pilots infiltrated the terrorists and the rag-heads were as surprised as us when the planes ploughed straight into the towers. 3. The terrorists planned a straightforward hijack but the planes were being flown by remote control. All of these are far fetched but the idea that any more than a handful of people could be behind mass murder of their own civilians is laughable.
-
What's your theory on 9/11 then, based on the evidence? If the towers were brought down by explosives how did they rig them up without being noticed? How did they manage to fly the plane into the exact point where the explosives were set up and delay the explosion by about an hour despite the impact and fires? If it wasn't a plane flying into the Pentagon what happened to the plane? How did a military aircraft fire a missile into the building in a heavily populated area in broard daylight? Who was in on the plot - the whole CIA, Police, Military, Fire service and American Airlines staff? The problem with conspiracy theoriests is that when they try and explain an alternative you can fly a jumbo jet through the holes in the plot.
