Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
aintforever replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
Only a complete fool would ignore what the scientists are saying, the more you read on the subject the more you get an idea of what extraordinary detail these guys go into. "the climate has always changed" and "it's cold outside so can't be happening" are the arguments of the ignorant. -
Stop being so unfair on poor old corpse, it was a cold night, tickets were expensive, it was mid week, there was traffic chaos, Champions League was on TV... ...oh, hold on, that was our game.

Fitting end, bet the Syrian leader doesn't sleep well tonight.

I don't see what the economic boom has to do with it, other countries manage a boom without walking over dead kids in streets. The people are just c*nts.

If the liverpool fans had been waiting in an orderly queue outside the ground do you think the police would have opened the gates? I remember seeing the footage, it was like a big rugby scrum, hence the crush on the outside. The police have to take the blame because large crowds behave like @rseholes, Taylor couldn't attribute blame to the crowd because that's the nature of football crowds. That doesn't mean they didn't contribute to what happened. I'm not having a dig at scousers, that could easily have been a large, drunk, impatient Saints crowd.
-
I think they will fall again, the house market is slow at the moment and there's bound to be another recession.
-
Lord Justice Taylor had to come to that conclusion because the Police are responsible for crowd control, so if there are deaths they have to take the blame. The behavour of the fans outside obviously led to the doors being opened. We've all been in situations like that before, some people act sensibly, some people act like ***ts and push and barge. Take out the ***ts and lots of people waiting to get in a football game is not a problem.

I would have felt safer taking the train. My neighbour went via coach in the 2004 game and got pelted with ashtrays as they went past the pubs. If all the local scrotes know we will be arriving in a big convoy it wont be hard for them to use us as target practice and there wont be much the rozzers can do to stop them.
-
I don't blame them for wanting to know all the facts. I wonder what their reaction will be though if the facts also point the finger of blame to their fellow scousers pushing outside?

Interest rates can't go any lower so I've gone for a fixed rate. I know next to nothing about economics but I think they usually raise interest rates to combat inflation. Recently we've been printing money like crazy so if the economy picks up we will probably get serious inflation. Having said that it is looking more and more like we are entering a recession/depression so god knows what will happen.

Because driving a bus is a really tough job.
-
Whilst I find the scousers' wallowing a bit tiresome I don't think there is any harm in releasing all the facts. Don't really see the point though, it was fairly obvious what happened and whilst it was a police cock up the p!ssed up scousers contributed to the disaster. I hope there is no witch hunt after the info is released, the plod didn't want it to happen.

Better get up quick if we want to be in the PL
aintforever replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
It would kill the competition and ruin the league - I doubt many owners would be in favour of it if they thought about the consequences. The owners of Man Utd, Arsenal etc don't give a monkeys about relegation, they would give a monkeys if the Prem became the dullest league in Europe and fans, TV audiences, advertisers and sponsors f*cked off. -
If the club want to insist I get the bingo bus that's fine but I will have to insist on decorating it with a dirty great big F*CK OFF SKATES banner. If the driver doesn't like it he can do one, that's a more than fair compromise.

Never happen in a million years. -
Ipswich spent £1.5mill on Chopra, £1.1mill on Emmanual Thomas plus 240K on Cresswell, not to mention bringing in 9 players on frees (big wages) including the likes of Bowyer, Bullard, Ellington and Sonko. Brighton spent over 4mill plus some on frees, Derby spent £2.9mill, Pompey over £4mill. Saints spent about £2.5mill (750K on Cork, 1.75 on Fox.
-
That looks pretty cheap to me. You are forgetting we are in the Championship. Ipswich, Brighton, Derby and Portsmouth all spent more than us this summer. Teams like Hull and Burnley still have parachutes so will have decent size wage bills, plus there's Forest and Leeds.
-
I don't know how you worked that one out, plenty of teams have spent more than us.
-
Maybe that's what they were signing about, "we're waiting for you, we're waiting for you, we can't fill our stadium, we're waiting for you"
-
11,261 and you could get 4 tickets for £44. That is p!ss poor support even for a small club like pompey.
-
If we get through the group stage without Rooney then I would prefer the team to stay the same. No point tearing it all up just in the faint hope of that fat ***t actually playing well in one game.
-
A draw away at Derby is a fantastic result, especially without our best player.
-
Excellent point, smash the Hammers on Tues and we could be 5 clear. Just hope Lallana's injury is not too bad, losing him for a long time would be a massive blow.
-
Easily good enough for the Prem.

PMSL, think you might just be missing some numbers there.
