So now Lowe says we couldn't afford Pearson!!!!!!!!
aintforever replied to um pahars's topic in The Saints
If Pearson was on what you say it's about right, he left Newcastle to take on a job where he knew the chairman would be around for only a few months, for that sort of job security you would want a decent salary. If it came to a long term contract the salary would be way different. The idea that we couldn't afford or keep pearson is laughable, there are hundreds of wannabe managers out there. Good managers like Curbishly, Davies and Souness have been on the rock n roll for ages, there are plenty of people who would want the Saints job to prove themselves - Pearson was ideal IMO. -
Would you BOYCOTT? Ways to get rid of Lowe and the board
aintforever replied to Wes Tender's topic in The Saints
Boycotts are the only way, CBFry's idea has to be the best way to make an impact. When the banks realise that Lowe personally is costing them money he won't last long. -
Surely it's about time David Jones took some responsiblity, if it's not the finance director's job to look after the finances then I don't know who's it is. He appears to be just interested in sving his own bacon, sucking the ass of whoever has the power - didn'yt he even side with the useless execs while they bankrupted the club?

Looks like his coin throwing has worked! good on him.

So, we've actually lost Stern John for the season too..
aintforever replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
You don't know what any of our players earn. Anyway regardless of what they earn it should still be up to the manager to decide how he wants the money to be spent. If you let anyone other than a talented manager make those descisions you are ****ed IMO. That's what good managers do, make the best out of their resources. -

I don't have a problem with loaning out players, we obviously have to make cutbacks. BUT, what appears to be happening is Lowe is looking at the players wages, making the descisions and then lets Poortvleit work with the scraps. The manager should be given a budget and should be making ALL the footballing descisions within that budget - that is how talented managers make good teams on a shoe-string. If I was manager I would have built my team around Stern John and made the saving elsewhere - like not bringing in Gasmi, Pulis, Peckhart, Wotton and Smith. -
"Football Club For Sale - Lowe Price"

I don't think what Chorley did was particularly clever, apart from the fact that it got press attention. All these *****s that line up to have a go at Chorley are just pathetic though IMO.
-
"How are we going to handle Manchester United? MW: The better an opponent plays the better we seem to play, because they give away space." These guys really are clueless - the Utd game is gonna be a slaughter.
-
If that was his aim then I think he's ****ed up big time, this sort of thing will do more than anything to focus attention on his faults.
-
If he was offered anything Lowe would have made a big song and dance about it.
-
Of course he did, it doesn't matter what you call it - sack/don't renew contract/mutually exclusived/gardening leaved. It all amounts to the same thing but with different levels of compo.
-
Please explain why he had to sack Pearson and employ a noboby Dutch manager?
-
Again Lowe shows himself up for being either completely delusional or just a plain nasty piece of work. Tempted to stop going until he's gone for good. If enough people boycott the banks will force him to go IMO.
-
Some shoe throwing would be a nice touch.
-
It's a complete mess of a situation, if Poortvleit is not choosing the players then is it right he gets sacked for a situation that is not totally his fault? Maybe he is do as well as anyone can in his situation. We are wasting serious money on wages for Peckhart, Gasmi, Pulis, Smith, Wotton, Robertson etc yet we still don't have any proper fullbacks - is this Poortvleit's fault? Without a talented manager making the footballing descisions we are ****ed regardless IMO. When money is tight as good manager is vital, at the moment we are effectively managerless.
-
I think the chants were justified, so many plastic tossers moan on here about the quality of football, yet if they actually showed some support we would be in a much better situation. The money excuse is just ****** as well - the classic plastic excuse, it cost just as much in previous seasons.
-
Some small things that could make a big thing...
aintforever replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Agree about the standing thing, the jobsworths in the Northam do kill the atmosphere. -
It has to be time to sack Poortvleit, particularly if we have to sell Surman and Lallana - he team will have it's guts ripped out anyway so might as well give a proper manager a chance to build something. I think it's all too late anyway, far from improving with experience -the kids are looking more tired with every game. The second half of the season will be way harder for this team, everyt eam we play will know how to play against us.
-
Jan needs to be sacked and the players need a kick up the arse. Crying out for Billy Davies type appointment IMO, probably too late though, this Dutch disaster has blown our chances already IMO.
-
I can't see any Prem club being interested in Lallana, he can't even make an impact in the Championship, he can't score and goes missing way too much. Surman was ****** yesterday as well, if he wants to go he might as well **** off in January.
-
The last season Beattie was with us he obviously lacked motivation and ponced about like he owned the place - McGoldrick appears to have reached that stage already.
-
I'm sorry but if Mcgoldrick showed half the commitment Beattie did for us he would actually be a good player. Most of the players will get better with experience but the performance at palace was way worse than at Cardiff on opening day. I think we will find it harder in the second half of the season when teams will know exactly what to expect from us. If Jan doesn't figure out how to mix things up a bit we will be in trouble IMO.
-
I've nothing against the formation we play but a few times this season it's been crying out for change and Jan has done nothing. We've had a few games where we've looked good in the first half but the opposition defence seem to grow comfortable with how we play and we dont look dangerous in the 2nd. We need to be able to change things.
