  1. Ther will be another "Speedway Day " at Sammy Millers Motor Cycle Museum in New Milton on Sunday 19th June. I hope it is as good as last years when many old riders (Briggo, Brian Crutcher etc) were in attendance.
  2. Strangely enough, the thing that gave me most excitement Saints-wise happened off the pitch. That was the signing of Kevin Keegan. I can remember virtually everything about that day. European Footballer of the Year signs for Saints!! The whole country was shocked. The fact that he signed towards the end of one season and couldn`t play for us until the next really cranked up the excitement and sense of anticipation! There were many exciting signings in those days (Peter Osgood, Peter Shilton, Charlie George, Alan Ball etc) but KK will always stay top with any Saints fan that remembers it. On the pitch - 1976 and almost anything that involved Matt Le Tissier!
  3. In The Night Garden?
  4. I must admit that although I had a soft spot for BJH, The Moody Blues were more "mainstream" and I used to see them more often. Mind you "Go Now" by the original MBs with Denny Laine is a classic song.
  5. I do find " A small town in Ports**th" annoying and illogical.
  6. Presumably a corruption of "negro" or "negroid"?
  7. I dunno! Wotte has he got on the other?
  8. Guy Gibson, who lead the "Dambuster" raids on the German dams had a black lab called "n****r". Don`t think that it was considered racsist in those days. I think that I even had a paint box when I was young with a colour called "n****r".
  9. If anyone thinks that the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan are illegal they should protest against the people who sent the troops there, NOT the soldiers who are doing their duty. Were British soldiers "murderers" or "criminals" when they saved this country from Napoleon and Hitler or when they were helping to rescue Muslims from ethnic cleansing in Bosnia? These "Islamic" protesters did what they did to get a reaction and that is what they got.
  10. Another excellent choice. I think that "Car Wheels.........." is her best though.
  11. Two classics - esp ATGR. Saw a film of a Blind Faith open air concert on (I think) Sky Arts recently. Certainly had the potential to be a top band for some time. Pity they were so short lived. Possibly too many egos in one place!
  12. Well said. The man is an absolute legend.
  13. The Boyzone Reunion Tour wasn`t going quite as well as everyone had hoped.
  14. Here is an interesting one that you missed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilles_de_Rais
  15. Totally agree. Fascinating subject and we will almost certainly never know who he was.
  16. :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:
  17. ........and don`t forget that we were relegated in his first season and that we won the FA Cup as a Second Division (CCC) side. He built us up to the team that we became in the 80`s from a low base. Nowadays he wouldn`t get the chance to do that. He would have been sacked.
  18. This trend for slagging LM off is ridiculous. The man took us to runners-up in the First Division and three Wembley appearances as well as attracting players such as KK, Peter Osgood, Peter Shilton and many others that we could only dream of nowadays. Whatever he is now, he will always be a legend for the success he brought this club.
  19. John Sydenham??
  20. I don`t think that it was just because we won both games, but the official both yesterday and last week were better than the numptys that we usually get.
  21. I read somewhere recently (can`t remember where) that he went because Rupert and JP were convinced that the team would be successful with just the fantastic young players the the club had produced. We didn`t need expensive, experienced players.
  22. I would like to make two points:- Firstly, it was widely believed that Lowe wanted Wotte 3 or 4 years ago. Why did JP suddenly appear on the scene with MW and take charge of the first team? Why not give that position to Wotte in the first place with JP looking after the reseves/academy. Secondly, whilst I am very happy with the last 2 results, I am more impressed with the way that the team played. We didn`t just sneak the results, we outplayed and out fought the opposition. Wotte does seem to have made a difference, but I suppose time will tell!
  23. Are you ITK?
