  1. Sure, but my point stands. If you're trying to skew the pay of 'teachers', you should be aware that their pay packets often incorporate additional allowances for extra responsibilities outside of their usual remit. £30148 is the maximum salary a teacher can earn unless they apply, and are approved, to be paid using a higher scale upon completion of at least six years service, or are gaining additional pay in the ways referred to above.
  2. I don't think so, no ... but importantly it wasn't about teachers! Teachers don't authorise the purchase of photocopiers as per your £35k example. In fact, you'd be amazed at the number of state school Heads who now come in from an industry (read 'private sector') background, and many schools have 'business managers' who essentially run the money side of things. Any errors in this side of things have very little to do with 'teachers', if, by teachers, you mean the people teaching the kids.

I was just gonna say that myself! What a stunner of a post that was ... Blair and Brown's Labour = Socialist. Yeh ... whatever!

That's hardly a phenomena unqique to independent schools. In fact, with state schools living or dying by their league table position, it's probably even more of an issue in state schools.
  5. Only if you think the initial salary was acceptable. It looks ridiculous from where I'm sititng, although I don't have the economic foresight to adjust it for inflation and thus put it into perspective. If you think teachers have had it too good when it comes to pay rises, I think you're misguided. You should probably note, the £34k figure quoted is based on classroom teachers who also have extra pay for additional roles and responsibilities and / or are being paid based on higher pay scales than standard. The basic pay scales can be found here . £30,842 is the basic salary of a teacher who has been in the profession for six years or more, unless they have additional roles or have been accepted onto a higher pay scale for strong performers.
  6. "the public sector" as the umbrella term that you keep banding around is quite different to "teachers", despite the fact that the teaching prfoession is part of the public sector; that's my point. You keep on discussing what you want though, that's not my problem!
  7. Are you implying they've had no pay rise since 2002 - as that simply isn't true!?!?!?
  8. A link which has nothing to do with the original conversation.
  9. What on earth has that link got to do with cutting or freezing teachers' pay? It actually states that cuts won't be made to front line jobs. You can read right?
  10. Problem is, they're getting girls to clean them right?
  11. When puclic sector pay cuts are referred to, they're talking about the top earners in the civil service. It's a well known fact that teachers and nurses are on three year pay deals and these were only recently agreed (last year I think). There won't be any pay freezes or cuts for them for some time.
  12. So was I! Deadly.
  13. beat me to it. I think he's under the radar of the lazy journos tbh.
  14. There are some posters on here who are quite prominent members of the EDL. With all the negative PR surrounding them at the moment, perhaps your cousin could get in contact with them and see if he could possibly help repair their tarnished image?
  15. I'll give you the £26 mate.
  16. maybe .... maybe!
  17. I get to keep the bottle tops from my bottles of coke. Perhaps they judge you based on your appearance?
  18. yep, ridiculous pricing structure. should have been a tenner in for adults, whenever you purchase the tickets.
  19. This was DulllDays' first 'detailed' post about what is wrong with putting women on submarines. This is the first potentially sexist claim he makes. There is nothing about radiation hurting women's 'bits' at this stage. It is all about women being risky becuase they may get pregnant and have to be sent home. I'm guessing medical situations don't arise in which male officers have to be sent home right? As I said, he shifts onto the nuclear argument later in an attempt to try and lessen the impact of some of the potentially sexist ramblings.
  20. great news imo, i always thought the view from blocks 3 and 4 was atrocious.
  21. hmmm.... I can't help thinking the point he says he's now making wasn't the one he was making from the outset. It smacks of tactical withdrawal to me. The way the discussion quickly shifted from submarines to nuclear submarines just goes to show that this wasn't always about radiation doing damage to female organs. He is a sexist (and a racist given by the nasty implications being made on the EDL thread) and he's hiding behind the only shreds of sense he has.
  22. Would DullDays allow British Muslims to serve on submarines? How would he react to tripping over a prayer mat as he fumbled his way towards his little bunk?
  23. As far as the offside rule is concerned, you're too right.
