  1. Might take a tad longer with the fans a big lump of 25k folks are going to be less than impressed with his carrying ons this summer, I think if he stays and is still captain that will be a poor message for the rest of the squad too.
  2. Don't leave us hanging!!!!
  3. Nah play Rooney from the start, don't even think of Subbing him til at least 85minutes despite being 3-1 down, get sent home and just maybe the media (Rio aside) will wake up to the fact that Rooneys star quality is dimming........... Which is something most real football fans knew some time ago................. England managers also need to grow a pair and pick who is going to get the job done not 10 players and one stroppy passenger. Otherwise: Just need Costa Rica to spank the Macaronis in the 5pm game to add a bit of Chilli spice to the mix
  4. This. that saved me some typing...... Cheers Turkish
  5. I thought fair play to him on that, he will learn. Like many of us he probably watches football in a bubble where invariably watching the game just absorbs your mind. I use to sit next to the Landlord of The Junction pub St Denys (?) in Junior Saints every week, Mrs JBS one drive home said the pair of us just talked to each other about the game before our eyes in the strangest of ways without once looking at each other and little emotion. Trouble is we have all been spoilt by his brother, but at least Lurch is better than Jamie Carragher, who despite a bit of training still makes your ears bleed.
  6. How can you start a debate and then not want any part of it?
  7. Be funny if his contract states he has to do his press interviews in Dutch and Jos is the translator, with Jos's sense of humour that could be amusingly dangerous.
  8. Can't agree: Fonte extracted a digit last year with Lovren coming in as he was due for the bench with Lovren bought to partner Maya, and as like Chambers did for much of the season v Clyne, Fonte made sure he was nicely rooted despite being guilty of gifting the oppos some soft goals through the season. When it was Yoshida playing out of position with Fonte the previous season, Yoshida was by far the more intelligent of the pairing.
  9. Does make me smile all the Rooney support, Baines was constantly looking for cover from Rooney in the first half but because he had a strop on for not being in his favouritest position he preferred to sulk rather than play as a team, great cross but then for a £300k pw footballer I would expect no less.
  10. Strange really as I listened to him on the radio the other night and thought he came across well, can't say I noticed him last night. I guess I am so use to be sitting at SMS with some bellend spouting complete cobblers within earshot for 80 of 90 minutes, I guess my clap-trap-chit-chat filter must be getting quite refined.
  11. Better get my forks sharpened with which to gouge my eyes out with, if that happens!
  12. In reality we are the only place where stuff is going on after an impressive season. Makes life dead easy for the hacks
  13. Just walked to end of our road where the view is elevated, there was some pretty impressive fork lightening......... And heading towards you good folks south of Basingstoke.
  14. As always the best reporting of Football
  15. Happy to see this tumble down the board later. Sat up in Old Basing watching the box could have sworn I just saw lightening South of me, anyone else see it?
  16. Seeing as they are fellow finalists that was a pretty good workout in the heat, that is what the Costa Rica game is going to be like, stubborn dogged opposition (I actually forgot they were down to 10) still no one is hurt. Let the main event begin.
  17. Bloody IT.V taters a nano second Rickies on the pitch and the salt us out being rubbed in the wound!!
  18. See Yoshida and Mayuka were involved in a bit of cracking game for the casual observer with Japan beating Zambia 4-3
  19. The Hondurans are having a good work out considering they are fellow finalists, although with their Rufty Tufty play all 23 in their squad should see some action in their group games.
  20. Ray Winston in the adverts............. Wayne Rooney to be struck by lightening first 15/1.............. Ave a bang on that!!
  21. My Grandad was too old to be called up but being in the Terriers (TA) the goal posts were moved not in his favour so he spent pretty much 5 years away during the war. He was on the second wave and made it all the way to Germany, and back again with stories to make his grandsons eyes wide like saucers when he told them. With regard to something Ohio mentioned about the Hollywooding of the War by the Septics they were doing it while it was going on! My Grandad said that they were in a Cinema in France watching a news reel from the Americans when a piece came up about a town that "bunch of GI's had miraculously taken against all odds", this snippet had the whole Cinema in uproar as most of the guys in the Cinema had fought a hard battle to liberate this town with mates lost, then handed it to the Americans for safe keeping without a German for miles, while the British forces moved forwards onto the next towns.
  22. Big Sean let them have their fun, then reigned them back to chase the bigger picture.
  23. That sounds like a young man content with the cards he has been dealt so far in his football career.
  24. I know we have been searching for a song for him for ages as his name doesn't rhyme too well with much: but it fits into La Marseillaise ........ I bet some clever clogs could make it work some how. The French national anthem tune at SMS would be original too.
