  1. Lambert and Lallana at least are not on bobbins money, Lambert probably has more trouble thinking about spending it, especially as he use to rock up in a Jeep that had a few years on the plate and not the blinged up pimp wagons most footie players swan around in. Probably in reality most of the players who made the journey from league 1 were more startled rabbits in the headlights than hacked off with someone coming in for silly transfer money who might be on stratospherically more per week than they are.
  2. He has already set the wheels in motion to bring in big Joe and Bond. I think Jordan is a sound bloke, but Bond? I remember when we were teetering on the edge of the abyss, for the Norwich game the players were all sat on the pitch as Dennis Rofe started getting them going smashing his fist into his hand with passion, when we played United last day it was Bonds turn in the middle of the players compared to Rofe was like a wet flannel totally zero passion. So good luck if he does the same job. My boss is a QPR season ticket holder his first comment when we beat them was that we had Spirit and fight that they lacked passion and effort, he does not hold out much hope for Arry to make much difference.
  3. I am quite surprised that the ref did not tell someone to go and help him.
  4. Quite right
  5. Nice bit of time wasting yesterday from the boys to run down the clock. The word must be out on Gazza and his dodgy 80 minute shoe laces as the ref made a point of holding his watch in the air in his direction, then Lallana or Cork went over to the ref for a bit of chat distracting him from his watch. Then Luke Shaw, when he knew he was up for subbing, as Newcastle made their substitution backed himself right over to the Kingsland touchline under the premise of taking a drink from the bottles there then had to slowly trot the width of the pitch to change with Jos.
  6. Mr Mark "sponsored by Clintons" Clattenburg making his refereeing return after the Chelsea debacle nearly ruined the whole of the rest of his life, a nice under the radar game to ease him back in with.
  7. I was about ready to go up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire, but wanted to see Saints on MOTD, blimey after seeing that I was buzzing as much as at the final whistle.
  8. The one good thing the Ref and his assistantants did today with their different view on the game was whip us up into a frenzy which translated to the team which whipped us up into even more of a frenzy our first goal had quite a bit of steam behind it. You do wonder what goes through the officials heads when the crowd starts to get ugly at 50:50 decisions they have just made. The Kingsland lino who gave a corner to the Toon when a quarter of the stadium could see it was our goal kick must have been so thankful he was facing he pitch.
  9. Gazza for me. Some folks on here are on weird narcotics..... Boruc = Gold plated experience. "he was great with Fiorentina last 2 seasons" so how come he is not still there, how come he was a free agent, how come he was kicking his heels training with Everton, how come we were in a one man bidding race for him?
  10. I stand corrected, that's the trouble when you post about stuff from 30 odd years ago through the haze of time and a little alcohol ..........................either way both a pair of strumpets from a similar time that made the eyes of most teenage boys eyes pop out on stalks!!!
  11. Hey that was a banner at the League cup final in 1979 "Steve Williams lays on more balls than Linda Lovelace" (you can see all the youngsters on here scratching there heads: googling Malcolm Allison in the bath in images will explain it). In slight defence of Lallana apart from when Monk planted his foot and really did block him Adam did not go into histrionics in begging for the penalty................ But when you have a ref who awards a free kick when a Swansea player stands on the ball and falls on his Ar$e without a Saints player in feet of him you know you are going to get the sh1tty end of he stick off the ref
  12. http://www.theoxfordbrasserie.co.uk/ If you fancy grown up eating and chatting, recommend booking for a Saturday evening, plenty of places to move onto afterwards
  13. Would have liked to see Queen probably around the time of Band Aid. Always thought myself lucky to see Genesis quite a few times and marvel at the stage shows........ But then they ain't up everyones Strasse.
  14. Gary Neville had it half way out of his mouth on Sky's MNF during the post match analysis and slammed it into reverse.
  15. Should have kept that Dan Harding fella!!
  16. Blimey Lowe and his retirement home malarkey really has really brainwashed some of the plums on here, if you are an old fecker seems to be the Willy Wonker golden ticket for top billing on the team sheet, if you are a nipper you are no good er because you don't know as much as Mr Crusty.............. Thank god I am an old bugger, cos in some folks world I have a job to breeze into for years. Re Gazza: some of you winkles really need to do your research the bloke has already been playing first team football with Gilligham so he ain't fresh out of the player factory.
  17. As fans we have had a great time these last few season, we have seen a winning side playing winning football, at times some of the football we have watched has been mesmerising. However the gulf between the championship and Premiership has be there to see, last year when teams got in our faces we wobble, this season every team is in your face for almost 90 minute, but like we saw second half against Villa get at teams and they are vulnerable too. Monday night the players look like they are in shock or still not believing they are playing in what is reputed to be the best league in the world, and at times playing in a dream like trance: go 1 or 2 goals down and still play at the same slow pace as if "we will wake up in an hour and it will all be over". There are players in the team who seem to know exactly where they are but are surrounded by those in this trance. Adkins is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and as fans I think many of us would like to see the team share his burden. Adkins says training has been great but on the day so far it has gone awry. It would be shame if the cold bucket of water over the players as they wander round in their stupor is the departure of Nigel, but they really need to wake up and get a bit nasty, make a meal of getting tapped by an opposing player (Spurs were excellent at that) Adam Lallana needs to behave like a captain and get a bit nasty (in the right way to gee the players up) Hammond whilst deficient in some parts of his game didn't hold back in getting into the players to get them going. Sadly the players probably don't read this haven for wristslitters and the like, but if they did I would like them to wake up, treat Saturday as the first game of the season and play like they are capable of. In fact play like every scout for every great team in the world is watching them alone. Otherwise it's going to be a bloody long nightmare and if you ain't looking to be trying then no one is going to offer you and easy way out in January, and come May there will be a pay cut.............. This is it, yes you really are in the Premiership, that smell? Coffee. Wake and take what could be your only chance of tasting it every morning for the rest of your careers.
  18. I have to say I think it is a good move for him, he has been managing in a loony bin walks in, which some might think naive of him, and the club faceplant big time and he is haemoraging players through no fault of his own. This season he has been in charge of a bunch of Out of contract football wanderers given his lack of player options I am surprised they haven't been rock bottom of the table all season. Listening to him on Solent, obviously more so last season, in his post match interviews despite managing our arch rivals he always came across well, never seemed play on the sorry state of what was going on in the background. Good luck to the bloke be a bit different for Blackpool having worked under the fruitcake that is Ollie, now they go to the other end of the scale in being managed by Voldemort!!
  19. Personally I would put him ahead of Seaborne, he is intelligent enough, and the times he came in cold last season he wasn't too shabby. Playing time is what he needs without doubt.............. But then how many folks have said the same about Boruc............ I am obviously missing something.
  20. Always look on the bright side of life We will be in Europe next season....................... If there is a war. Just maybe today's results added to tomorrows might just be the kick up the Jacksy we need.
  21. I expect the money is a massive factor, goes to Chelsea plays well gets stalked by Cashley Cole learns he can get a monster wage just to train, WB happy his agent is happy, clubs come knocking possibly but don't come up with the weekly wage to tempt him away. Man city rock up with a nice contract with nice money why not move on for another 4 years of security. Again he becomes a bench warmer then just a trainer on £80k a week, teams come knocking but why move on if you are guaranteed £80k for the next X years to stay where you are and they ain't prepared to pay that kind of money. Probably also seen his best mate Beattie just fizzle out, and thinks that will happen to me so lets just ride the wave I am on. I would imagine the drive he had with us has dimmed, through being benched for so long and going out on loan on full pay just breaks the tedium. It certainly would be interesting if he did turn up back at Saints as romantically you would hope it might just re kindle the fire.
  22. Perhaps he has no domestic ability so hotel living might be right up his Strasse.
  23. The bottom line is that we have reached the Premiership ahead of the schedule put in place when ML & NC took over, a friend who went to a Cortese dinner last year said that it is not the end of the world if we do not go up this season. It was also stated that Adkins was always on the top of the list when Pardew left the building, and that Markus wanted Pardew out yet Cortese (who had been painted as Evil in the media) defended Pardew's position to stay. So maybe we are all a little uneasy as the way of the media is "lost 4 in 5...... He's sacked" (funny how Ben from Eastenders at Reading seems to be missing the sack race attention), there is always a chance that NC is actually looking at the bigger picture and is prepared to let his manager fight his way out of the current predicament seeing as he got us to the promised land. It would make a pleasant change not to follow the media sacking playbook.
  24. Wasn't he on Soccer AM on Saturday promoting his own brand of Hooch, which had Hells Bells and the bloke fumbling their words for a moment after a little trial snifter.
  25. Does make you scratch your head a little as I didn't think he was too shabby between the sticks. I think Kelvin has demons from his past foray in the Prem lurking between his ears, and comments re Boruc that he was a bit rusty at Wet Spam and needed game time makes you wonder whatever did Gazza do wrong......... Blimey they have only just released his poster in the shop so Leighton won't be happy. Hopefully the little spat from the Chapel in his direction might spur Boruc on to up his game rather than relaxing in the knowledge that he is number 1 very quickly and his biggest threat has been sent out on loan..
