  1. Stood in Hastings taking an order with a customer in her shop, she got a phone call. When she finished the call she said that was my son he just said that someone had flown a plane into the Twin Towers. We both thought that it was a light aircraft, listening to the radio in the car was a bit surreal seeing the pictures on TV when I got home was even more so. Especially the people jumping from the upper windows........................ Still begs the question why?
  2. Ooo-errrrrr! We will have the PC Police on our case with that Muriel!! Get an African player and we represent him with a chuffin Lion!!! Still if he is that ferocious Rooney might actually lose that leg this year!!
  3. Either way it's going to be the most competitive SPOTY in ages, as the glorious sporting feats of the summer are so numerous. Trouble is if someone on the panel sticks in a dopey footballer (goodness knows why they should) he could easily canter up the inside to snaffle the prize. Personally I think: Wiggo Farah Murray With a special mention for Johnnie Peacock, only because I thought his 100m the other night was awesome. The Games Makers will be team of the year. Bolt = Overseas Dave Whatsit the Cycling boss = Coach of the year Seb = Special Recognition Award Dave Weir = Helen Rowleson Award
  4. Always remember Bridgey when he came back from Japan 2002, first game and as they use to say on Soccer AM he was "Different Gravy!".
  5. +1.
  6. Pants Much prefer the Away one of the 2.
  7. Oh deary me only just got on to t'internet to find I am now I am pap's plaything: stupid bloomin Italians flogging him to us
  8. Bit chilly last night, could have been the central heating!!
  9. That's a bit of a shame me and Mrs JBS were jetting in from NY that morning and that game was a perfect fix for her Jet-lag....... me I would just stay up.
  10. I wondered today how much of this Ramirez cobblers, is a smoke screen to cover all of our other deals: which seem to be smooth as silk and pretty much under the radar.
  11. Errr No! My Manc mate was at OT and Fergie was in preparations to make a change with the obvious player making way being Berbatov. Berbatov was near the sidelines when an old boy standing next to my mate shouted "Oi Berbatov!! Warm up lad!, you're coming off!". Obviously to great roars of laughter from those in earshot. As my mate said summed the player up superbly.
  12. Loooking at the Ramirez thread blossoming to 120 pages (at time of writing) with 2 days to go I would imagine definitive threads are the way forwards to avoid meltdown as 500 folks comment on 5 potential players in one thread: player A "don't talk rubbish he's injured" Player B "signing by tea time" = injured player signing by tea time as the posts are displayed. If you know what I mean.
  13. You could see his frustration at 99 times out of 100 getting the ball passed behind him, when he did get the right ball he did actually make something of it. That said as time passed he also looked like he was trying too hard so was probably gone prematurely for the pass. Dutch lads on holiday last summer did speak very highly of him. One Ajax fan did say they looked very seriously at him as he was fast had a good engine to get from attack into defence (remember v Reading last season at SMS) and vice versa, plus he had good vision for a pass, this was what turned them off him as he would look for a pass rather than being selfish and take the chance himself. Shame really.
  14. My boss is a ST at Loftus road, he doesn't rate Green at all and added obviously neither does Mark Hughes seeing as he splashed out on Green then goes and gets Cesar! Certainly not very high on my list.
  15. The writing has been on the wall for a while that we need one. A little surprised we let Martin go out on loan as I thought the more pitch time he had the better he got, that said he always seemed assured when asked to start in previous years, unless he was the sacrificial lamb in the Clyne deal? With them and Fonte not wishing to re acquaint themselves with each other.
  16. Not for me I'm afraid Flatters to deceive, shone at Boro when surrounded by mediocrity, never performed for England (which should have been the fluorescent graffiti). On the Liverpool training ground allegedly pure dynamite scoring "Worldy's" assists aplenty, I appears that if you stick him in front of a whopping great big crowd the lad gets stage fright!! We don't need potential passengers.
  17. BBC stats have 60-40% possession to Stevenage!!!!
  18. Not a surprise they have been a bit handy for a few years. I would keep an eye on Wigan this season, brother in law said Chelsea caught them cold first 6 minutes, then Chelsea had trouble getting hold of the ball for the rest of the game when he made the trip up there. We know what happened Saturday v us when many thought it was a good 3 point chance on paper. Tonight v Forest they are just playing footy in top gear stroking it around, Forest are just chasing shadows Wigan not even breaking a sweat and 2-0 up.
  19. We Did Gazump that there Dirty Leeds for Lee Barnard from Southend, they silly whatsits did have a big welcome spread in they midweek programme but we did have him bought and paid fur from roight under they noses that very same night............... Sorry Gazumped always sounds a bit agricultural to me!
  20. With this in mind is there a competitor who might make use of your services? Giving you a bit of schadenfreude at the same time, and straight in a job with the redundancy money sitting tightly in your bank. However if this is an option make sure you see out your notice and get your money, as the old employers might make life very hard for you if they find out.
  21. He'll get some stick for that especially as he will have to cadge a lift to Staplewood now, unless he gets the Hythe ferry then cycles up there: That should be his punishment from the club for the first month of his ban. Amazing though at 4am in the morning there were Rozzers about to knick him, what are the chances of that seeing as the OB never seem to be around when you want them to be, I bet someone grassed him up, which considering the crime and the powerful car he was driving is not a bad thing.
  22. Whilst business mileage is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things as emissions are the overriding factor, it's how many miles a year you drive, if the car is going to sit outside your place of work from 9-5 5 days a week then take the car allowance route to run it yourself and claim back business mileage. If you are racking up the miles and your car is being hammered as a result I would opt for the full on company car route as wear and tear far outweighs the tax penalty.
  23. Anyone remember the Big Cat seen roaming around Sherfield on Loddon and Bramley in north Hampshire a few years ago? There had been a day with multiple sightings, I was living in Chineham at the time, about 3 miles from the nearest sighting, we were on the edge of the village with open fields in 3 directions. Without thinking I stood having a smoke in the garden that evening and heard a rustling in the bushes which gave me a start, all of a sudden I thought of the Big Cat and slowly crept towards the door to go inside heart racing, as I reached the door the cause of the rustling came into view............ It was 2 bloomin Deer!!
  24. Went to one a good few years ago, nice to meet folks have a bit of a giggle and reminisce. But as th evening wore on it was just like being at school again with the little cliques from all those years ago surfacing. What pleased me was being a bit of billy no mates at school (which before the Trolls out there rub their hands with the thought of fresh meat, friends I have now are stunned at) I could just get up and walk away from sad individuals. The best part was one of the lads who was bit of a gentle giant, quiet boy, when at School had found his own little niche in life and been immensely successful at it. The folks greasing up to him were amazing, but best of all he was able to give them the same cold shoulder they afforded him, except they just could not see it: very amusing to watch from across the room.
  25. Awwww how sweet: I accept!! Xx But you do know if it all goes awry the role is reversed!!
