I would be worried paying 12m plus for a player the fans were not to bothered about keeping! the fact they want him to stay must be good!

In these days with the transfer deadline looming it is difficult to complete moves before parties panic. The buyer doesnt want to be seen to offer too much to early and the seller hangs on in the hope of a better deal. As the deadline gets closer reality hits and panic sets in then one or other party compromises and gives in. The next 12 days will be very interesting!

The leader of the Ale House Brawlers as a certain Mr Shankley named the Saints Defence after a particulalry bruising encounter in the 70's Defences were really feared in those days Leeds with Norman (Bites your legs) Hunter being another case in point.

With the countdown of 13 days to go to the end of the transfer window let the poker games begin! He who blinks first loses!

If so (to blackburn I think) his replacement Charlton was worse too

http://www.football-italia.net/23561/saints-start-again-ramirez negotiations starting again regarding the fee and payment instalments next Monday apparently, according to this link!
-
They get to negotiate there 30% seperately in theory they could ask more for their 30% than Bologna do for their 70% In a sell off percentage the 2nd club have no say and just get the percentage of whatever the owning club agree.

11 to 13 as we stand now 8 to 10 if we get Ramierez and a good CB

Every company has a board in which all strategy is discussed and agreed then individuals are tasked with carrying it out. Of course Adkins has had his say and is part of the overall decison to go for anyone. If he he is unhappy that he is not being consulted or listened to then he would say so. He is not a part of the deal and therefore under instruction to not comment on it. It does not mean he was not consulted or is unaware!

Would have loved to have seen an Alpine thread in the Branfoot days! He surely he would have committed suicide? I wonder what he would have have said about selling Shearer for peanuts and replacing him with the aged Speedie before the season kicked off and the great idea of relegating Matt to the bench because he wasn't fit enough. In spite of all that, with a team of cloggers and long ball merchants centered around the great ex millwall playmaker Terry Hurlock and with Paul Moody in for Le Tiss (for half the season) we still managed to stay up! Branfoot Ins Dave Beasant (OK) Dowie Speedie Dixon Paul Moody Stuart Gray (OK) Terry Hurlock Steve Wood David Lee Ken Monkou (Best Buy) Paul Allen (OK) Peter Reid Perry Groves Simon Charlton Branfoot Outs (enough said) Case Shearer Flowers Ruddock Horne Le Tiss (well he tried to get him out anyway and fortunately failed) Now that was a depressing season

We have done so badly with the Adkins/Coretese combination so far havn't we? I think we should let them decide how best to use each others strengths and cover weaknesses in the efforts of creating the right team within the right financial structure without telling them who is best to do what!
-
Alpine you state our transfer budget is limited! how do you know that? Do you think Adkins/Cortese are not intelligent enough to know which positions to fill and how to use their budget sensibly in order to do that? I don't think you give anyone credit for a modicum of common sense! I do however enjoy your posts even if I dont agree with them all!
-
Almost sounds like our fishy friends though they did win one cup final I am told!
-
Absloutely Mike Channon was relegated but was still an England player!
-
Ahh but if we sign up all the pacy players going our slow centre backs will have no problems at all!
-
you can add the likes of Townsend, Marsden, and Boyer as well as Ron Davies (probably our most successful import at top level) there are many others too.
-
in which case surely one of the other two should start?
-
Agreed but it only needs Alps to come on for the score line to change as he did countless times for Saints last season. It is because of Alps we went up!
-
I did but cant remember any of it as it was our usual rubbish! I do now recollect him playing early on! Funny how England doesnt stay in the mind like Saints does! On anothe issue UAE commentators here are very proud of their boys playing at wembley in front of 90000 spectators aginst a team from the premier league ! very sweet!

why was Oxo not picked I wonder was it because he went to the euros? even though he didnt play
