Southampton are England's 18th Best Supported Club
Saint Without a Halo replied to Bearsy's topic in The Saints
I dont believe Aresenal have 50 times the suppoerters we do or that Westham have 3 times as many! The problem here is the definition of what is a supporter if you ask someone who only watches footy on TV a few times a season they will inevitably pick a top club! -
Re signing Matt is he leaving the commentary box then! Would be good to bring on for free kicks and Pens!
-
All the best mate I am sure you will be back soon and as fit as a fiddle My son is a doctor at Southampton General and says the team there are top notch! all the best

No but you do by getting the right deal under the best conditions!

Sky sports seem to think we have bid 6m for Butland and failed http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/7846581/Saints-fail-in-Butland-bid I think Brum are trying to drum up his price and strart a bidding war! He is likely to go for a lot less than 6m as he has yet to play in a higher league than league 2!

Awful? he scored 10 goals many of which were crucial winners plus he contributed a number of key assists too! Hate to see how you define adequate maybe Lambert was adequate on your scale! -
52 points and a good solid season

In British Law (and most other laws) All contracts can be amended if the amendments are mutually acceptable to all parties to that contract. The problem arises when only one party wishes to amend a contract and the other does not! Sounds like he wants to go to Yeovil they want Saints to subsidise the difference in wages between his premiere triggered clause and league 1 and Saints dont wish to do that. his choices are therefore 1) Get Yeovil to pay full wack (likely to be unaffordable) 2) Get Saints to pay the difference 3) Accept a lower wage 4) Stay at Saints and play devlopment football and be paid to watch premiere league till his contract runs out (not a bad choice really) how many years is he signed up for?

He is never going to turn us down flat. He will want us there even if just to negotiate his terms up with someone else. The only time we will know an outcome either positive or negative will be when he signs a contract either with us or someone else! -
Bloody Hell Delia will need to sell a **** load of cook books to pay the 70k a week!

Errrrrr just where did I say Poyet was from the Ukraine ( see my post 29)? I also agree there is a lot of interest in Qatar (not Quatar) see my post 23 but it is a country with only 200k people and will be 45c when the world cup is on.
-
Well well well whatever next lots of Ukranian Brighton supporters that Poyet charecter is certainly popular worldwide
-
Qatar has a lot of interest in football! It is just that there are only 200,000 local Qataris (not enough to fill the stadiums they are building) and it will be 45 degrees C when the worldcup is on!

Only whilst his leg is still in plaster apparently! -
Yes we were lucky to be taken at a young age, I too went to my first match in 1971 (now 41 years ago) with my grandfather who lived in Shirley! That is not the point. However if we defined the only real fans as being those with a family history of support and/or years of dedication and discouraged the potential new and the curious then I would hazard an informed guess that our crowds would be less than half the current size and our chances of meaningful growth and success going forward would be neglibible to zero.
