100% agree Hughie, lots of clubs including our own think that any old player can slot in at full-back, and do a job, but for me that is not good enough. We as a team have suffered over the last few years by playing any old ball player in at right back, it may be ok as a stop-gap, but not when we have the funds to get in a specialist right=back to cover for Murty. I am not a fan of Lloyd James, and i think he is a very lucky boy to have played so many games for the first team, i've seen better players languishing in the reserves, over the years and not get a look in. This is the one thing that puzzles me about Alan Pardew and his obvious rating of the lad.Still i know nothing, which is why i am not the Saints manager.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.I have to trust the manager's opinion on this one as i don't think Pericard is very-good looking.

Steve was on Saints books as a schoolboy in the early 70's.....he started his career as a centre forward.

Killer´s new job (assistant manager in Sweden)
Teddy Nutkins replied to St.Patrik's topic in The Saints
Good news, best of luck Michael. If you are half as good a coach as you were a centre back, you'll be a success.Could you imagine a fully fit killer playing in this team...........happy days. -
That is a very good point, they would argue that the team would be forced into having no goalkeeper on the bench, which of course is another debatable topic.

Well done all at SFC, out of the drop zone in what was a very strange game. It reminded me of an Agatha Christie murder mystery, you really could have put any result to that game.We won 1-0, it could of been 6 or 7, or we could have thrown it all away in the last 10 minutes. Wycombe were poor to say the least but we did our best to give them ample opportunity to get something out of the game. We were so inconsistant, good at times, shocking at other, hooooooofff. What did amaze me, was how tired we looked in the last 20 minutes( esp Rickie). Are we unfit ? Have we become tired because of the amount of games we have played ? Having thought about the game, walking home in the rain again, i think that during the 2nd half we had so many quick break aways which started from our back 4 that we just ran out of steam because the game was so stretched. We badly needed the 2nd goal to settle us down and the harder we tried the more frustrated we became.Special mention to Chris Perry and Morgan, good performances, in what was quite a comical game of football. Well done lads, keep it going and who knows........

A guy out on the golf course takes a high speed ball right in the crotch. Writhing in agony, he falls to the ground. As soon as he could manage, he took himself to the doctor. He said 'How bad is it doc? I'm going on my honeymoon next week and my fiancée is still a virgin in every way.' The doctor told him, 'I'll have to put your willie in a splint to let it heal and keep it straight. It should be okay next week.' He took four tongue depressors and formed a neat little 4 sided splint, and taped it all together; an impressive work of art. The guy mentions none of this to his girl, marries her, and they go on their honeymoon. That night in the motel room, she rips open her blouse to reveal her beautiful breasts. She said, 'You're the first; no one has EVER touched these.' He immediately drops his pants and replies, .....'Look at this, .....still in the CRATE!'

Sometimes when a centre forward is good in the air, it is always an outlet ball to knock it up to him, and IMO we have been knocking it up to him hoping someone will pick up the loose ball if he wins it.Ok if it works, boring if we do it 20 times a game, especially when he does't win it. When Rickie first came to the club, the first thing i noticed was his ability to control and pass, and bring the midfield into the game.Just lately we have stopped doing that, and everything that goes near him is up around hs ears.Watch the triangles with Connolly, Lallana, Harding, Hammond etc; it is good to watch. I am sure he is struggling with his illness, still, as i don't believe he is a lazy player.Play the ball on the "deck", and we'll get the best out of him. By the way he knows where the goal is we need to get the ball to him in more dangerous areas.

On reflection, i'm satisfied with the point. It was one of those games where the result could of gone either way. We started really slowly a the start of the second half, which eventually led to the penalty, and took a while to get going again.Last two games, has really outlined how opposition coach's are quickly seeing our weak areas, and exploiting them.Again although this week we got away with it, we seem to have more than our fair share of players off the pace.Look out when they all hit form again:cool: Great goals, especially Connolly's, seemed to go in, in slow motion for me. Pure class and well deserved for all the effort he has put in the past two games. i can see us grinding out something on Tuesday. Special mention for our fans, well done stayed with it when we were struggling and last 5 minutes nearly forced the win. Anyone else have the urge hide the linesman's flag in a very secure area.
