I am a little suprised at your feelings about Davis, Dave, as i don't think A.P. is as worried about the keeper commanding his 6 yard box now we have 2 centre half's who are attacking the incoming ball.Of course A.P. would like to see the keeper coming off his line and taking the ball out of the air, but he knows Kelvin won't do it.His shot stopping is good so providing we are trying to to stop the supply from wide, and the two big fellas are winning headers in the box, i don't think a new keeper would be high priority. I do agree though that someone to put Davis under pressure, would be an asset,Bart did look a lot more comfortable against Charlton than i have seen him for quite a while.I also agree that the team sheet will look different come the start of next season maybe 4-5 players in the areas a lot of posters have suggested.

I am laughing away here, i can picture him in the bush, cursing. When i see him on the tele i always feel he will let "f" go by accident, decorum doesn't come naturally to Michael:smile:

An honour well deserved.I have never really taken much notice of stats, but looking at his goals per game ratio's for Saints, Man City and England they are not too shabby. Amazing that the guy has mixed with the gentry, held his own in their company, and excelled in both his careers, fantastic.I can still picture him walking down the corridor of the Dell in his flat cap and wellies, shouting "Mornin you ***kers". Mick Jnr. if you are reading this sorry to shatter your allusions, but yes your old man did swear a bit.

Totally agree. It is fantastic watching these young men enjoying their football in such an inhibited way. There was a lot of ability being shown out there, sadly, not all will make it through to the first team and in reality it will only be 1 or 2, that is the nature of football life. In the mean time enjoy the ride lads, life doesn't get much better.

I am sure, (hope), that Brighton was one of those games. It is very rare for a team to have all 11 players on top form. You will normally have a couple of players who are not 100%, but the rest of the team compensates. In the case of the Brighton game i think we had more than our normal amount of "off-colour" players. Was that the formation, was it the attitude...who knows. We have a chance to put it right on Saturday, in front of our own fans.

Totally agree, those months of hope kept us all going for a long time.Good-Luck Paul Allen, you can win this battle.

In as a back-up for Ben Harding, apparently............whoever he is:rolleyes: Still cringe at Thatcher's "tackle" on Mendez.

Yes please..........could you arrange with Markus and Alan.

I may be wrong,we have started with Wotton in those games, not been winning so then change to 4-2-2 and as a consequence gone on to win the game.So to answer your question i would imagine without checking is that those goals scored are after the change, so Wotton does not convince me that he is the difference. I am not against the idea of 4-5-1, it is the player playing in that holding role i am not convinced of.Having played that role myself, you have to be aware of opponents stealing into your area, be comfortable on the ball, and be able to make a range of passes, all of which, for me, Wotton does not do.If you watch him he very rarely picks up anyone when they come to his area, he passes them on, regardless. I wasn't any good at it either.
-
With all due respect,if you are not going to send the ball wide, there doesn't seem much point in playing wide players then.
-
Nobody will convince me playing Paul Wotton is a positive step, although i can see the virtues of bringing on Connolly as sub when the opposition defenders are getting tired.

Taggart...................Maggie Bell.

I agree WGS, summed it up perfectly for me when he said if you are on the pitch, you are interfering. He was talking about a game at Old Trafford when we were the victim of an offside goal by Ruud Van Nisteroy.
-
In hindsight i think what i have just said is a load of rubbish, it would not work for the offside law.Other incidents maybe.
-
Time to scrap offside law? No i don't think so Duncan, time to use technology available and employ a video referee..........controversial i know, but i feel it can be used without causing too many hold-ups in the game.

I thought we played some lovely high tempo one touch football at times last night, mixed with a high work ethic when Charlton had the ball.It was really noticeable to me how Papa Waigo worked very hard tracking back and giving Dan Harding some respite, something the manager has obviously drummed into him. Guess the only downer was conceding that goal at the end, sloppy to say the least. At least now i can go to the games knowing we can give anyone a game at this level.Happy-Days.

Blimey Ron does that mean we will eventually be forced back to our spiritual home.I'm not fond of caravans.

This place never ever fails to amaze me.To get to 4 pages on what is essentially a football forum,on a topic that invites so many differing views, raised by a poster who has been a little controversial, frankly is amazing.i have a feeling it will run on a bit today. Nineteen, did you expect to get such a wide spance of views,in some cases put most eloquently, on such a controversial subject.I have seen more written abuse on the main board, than on this thread which is a credit to all partaking. Clever use of topic title though.

:rolleyes:Ok i will ignor the Legod title and give you my findings.First of all "wow" that's heavy for a Thursday lunchtime but hey-ho.I guess if i read your last paragraph it pretty much sums me up......apart from having heard the tongues( for those that know me no i had not been on a bender). When i heard the tongues, it was somewhat of a worry to me.It was not a set up, she did not know i was there and there was i looking for this strange voice talking a strange language and found it stood at the sink washing up.It was my wife. I have never to this day told her this story of what i had witnessed and heard.I agree nothing can be proven and can understand why you "upped" and left the healing session.I don't think i could ever stop the feeling i had that Billy Graham was a rich trickster. There are many who believe, i, like you, remain agnostic. I wonder if Matt has heard the tongues:rolleyes:

I'm not even sure Terry had an imaginary friend.

Would it be too controversial, to sing back "We're not infamous any-more".

I hope Papa learnt by watching Antonio's performance, and noticed that he was not frightened to knock the ball past the full-back and trust his pace against a turning defender.Papa always seems to get slightly too far ahead of the ball with the midfield players knocking the ball in behind the defender, which in itself is ok providing you start in an on-side position.
