Anyone know how we're playing?

If you go pop and reform it'll be just like AFC Wimbledon, lots of hype and media coverage at the start, then the buzz will fade and you'll find your level with small crowds manly made up of a die-hard element of somewhere between 5,000 - 10,000.

Pure class! Not even the best fans in Hampshire! If they don't sell out today, when their club needs them the most, then they are a disgrace. As for the best fans in the world, have they ever seen any other football from around the globe? or

It's like someone hooked up to a life support machine when the doctors know, barring a miracle, that they aren't going to pull through but the family are begging for them to be kept alive out of selfish sentiment. Time for the doctors (HMRC) to pull the plug.

Run Come Save Me is also brilliant by Mr Manuva I've had "Foreign Beggars - United Colours of Beggatron" on this morning

If P*mpey get wound-up on Friday :Poll:

Rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic? http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=744356&sec=england&cc=5739 Chanrai's not doing them a favour, he's doing himself a favour by making sure he's got an asset (land) when the $h!t hits the fan. -

The Premier League are absolutely $h!tting themselves and rightly so, but try as they might, I don't think they're going to be able to do anything about it. If HMRC want to wind P*mpey up on the 1st then they will go right ahead and do it, the Premier League will have to deal with it. All this giving them TV money early and looking to bend the transfer rules is plain barmy, as soon as they do it for them, they are encouraging any other clubs with cashflow problems to do the same. Anyhow, it'd only be a drop in the ocean for the Skates, maybe allow them to pay the wages for 1 more month or keep the website running until the end of the season. Even as a Saints fan, it'll be a shame if they become extinct, but at the moment they bloody well deserve it and so do the Premier League. We got no help, Leeds got no help, Bournemouth aren't getting any help and poor old Luton certainly didn't get any help. If Pompey's situation is so bad that nobody in their right mind would want to invest, then that's tough $h!t, calling for the inevitable to be delayed because of sentiment is pathetic, if HMRC let this sorry circus rumble on then more people will lose money, the people of Portsmouth are going to lose their club one way or another (or until AFC Pikey start up in the Wessex or whatever they're planning) so HMRC should get cracking and get it over and done with. -
So basically unless you're employed in the game, your opinion is null and void? Pardew and the coaches may not have said anything publicly, but they aren't stupid and I'm sure they have had/are having words with Seaborne about the flaws in his play. He may prove a decent signing in the long run, but if you saw him at the two games I have, you wouldn't be able to make any other conclusion than that he is a very limited defender. He has his good points, he's a big strong lad and he's brave to boot, but on the flipside his positional sense looked dodgy, his passing was poor and he seemed to have lapses in concentration. A fine example of a typical lower-league defender if ever there was one. I hope I'm proved wrong, but you have to realise managers and coaches aren't immune from judgement errors. This is a forum and therefore opinions will be put forth, if you consider the concept of people who aren't employed in football giving their thoughts on players to be worthless, then perhaps this isn't the place for you. For what it's worth, I'm not just one of these people who loves to get on a player's back, for example I believe a lot of the stick Lloyd James gets on here is harsh, but if you watch Seaborne play then you'll see most of what peolple are saying is justified. Of course he deserves time, but what I've put above is my opinion of him so far.

He's quick but he's got no ideas. He usually just tries to knock it past them and run, but if he's playing against someone who isn't a slouch and has decent upper body strength then he just gets ushered aside.

I went to Millwall and Brentford and I have to agree. You get the impression that we signed him purely on the fact that he's young and left footed. He had his good moments but outweighed by the amount of mistakes. Fonte and Jaidi would be my choice this weekend, let Jaidi have the physical war with Grant Holt and hopefully Fonte can track Chris Martin's movement.

I'm going for natural causes, just like Stephen Gately

I'm in a bit of a bad cycle at the moment. I stay awake till about 1-2am, I'm up at 7am for work and then after getting in from work I tend to doze off about 7pm before waking up at around 9-10pm and continuing the pattern. Even if I manage to stop myself from sleeping in the evening, I still can't get to sleep until gone midnight.

It should never happen. Yes the Premier League would be more competetive and some of the other teams would benefit, but the league as whole would become a far less attractive proposition. Of course the "big four" have a bit of a monopoly on the Champs League spots, but it's up to clubs like Villa, City, Spurs, Everton etc to step up to the plate and compete. This season is a prime example, with Liverpool's form earlier on giving them a great opportunity. Fact is, less people would watch with no "big 4", the TV companies would then offer less money around, the better players would all bugger off to the Super League for more cash and the quality would drop. I'm sure the fans would have something to say too. We'd lose some of the games biggest derbies and the travel would cost a fortune for those in the Super League. All in all, it sounds like a good idea unless you look at the bigger picture, then it should become apparent that it's a bit pie-in-the-sky. Perhaps change the Champions League into a round robin format instead? Then it actually is a "League" rather than a cup.

Koumas has a massive ego, that alone would prevent him from dropping down to this level. He's a luxury player and anyhow, you couldn't play him wide because he's lazy and got no pace, so it means sacrificing a striker or central midfielder. Whereas our own luxury player, Lallana, does have pace. Wouldn't want him and it wouldn't happen anyway.

We'll be 1-0 up for most of the game, then Otsemobor will score 2 own goals in injury time to give them a 2-1 win.

Would you sign Papa Waigo N'Diaye on a permanent basis?
oxfordshire_saint replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Antonio is only 19 FFS!!!!! Worth signing even if he plays less next season and learns his trade. He's young and at times a bit raw, with the coaches we have, he could become a quality player over the next few years. Oh and sign Waigo. -
The fact that after the 3rd goal went in actually felt ill (nowt to do with alcohol!), realising that they were going to beat us on our own patch, nothing else can give me that feeling, even England losing to Germany. One of my mates who is a neutral came to Brentford away the other week with me and said he was amazed at the level of hatred our fans show towards them, even when we aren't playing them! Despite the setback at the weekend, I can't wait for the balance to be re-addressed. I would give my right nut to get promoted and batter them in the Championship next season. Oh and after we beat them with Marian's belter, I was visiting a mate who was at Uni there and lived in Southsea, I p!$$ed "3-0" up a wall with numbers as large as my aim could muster.
-
I actually felt physically sick when the 3rd goal went in and it became apparent it was game over. We just ended up paying for being wasteful infront of goal and having big holes at the back on the counter. No use reeling off all the ifs and buts, nowt we can do about it now, they were there for the taking but it didn't go our way. Let's try and take heart from the fact that we outplayed them for the most part.

So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?

Nice easy journey from Bristol, M4, A34, M3. Coming down early to avoid traffic and get a decent breakfast in me. -
West Ham/Sheff Utd vs Pompey/Saints
oxfordshire_saint replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Haven't they signed Shabani Nonda too? Rumour has it before he came to his senses turned them down and went to Sheff Utd, they had agreed to stump up £250k to loan Nyron Nosworthy. £250k from where??!?!! They have a squad, albeit a small one and I know they are only allowed to sign loans and frees, but that still means the wage bill will increase, a wage bill that they already can't afford. Originally I was of the opinion that if they went bust it'd be bad, as there'd be no rivalry any more, but crap like this makes me truly wish the worst on them. I hope they go kaput and never come back. -
Response - 100 reasons why its better to be a Saints Supporter
oxfordshire_saint replied to St_Tel49's topic in The Saints
We're debt free We've got a better stadium We don't hold the record for having the youngest fan arrested for a hooliganism offence at the football match We were actually living within our means in the Premiership, it was getting relegated that screwed us, Pompey have been living beyond their means for pretty much their whole time there We don't have a "W******d" We own our training ground We pay on time for our website We pay HMRC Our manager doesn't nobble Thai hookers (or at least does it discreetly) I could go on........ -
My younger brother is coming with me, he only comes to 3 or 4 games a season but he's NEVER seen us lose.

For the Blackburn vs Burnley game they made all Burnley fans report to Turf Moor for travel to and from the game on a coach convoy, no exceptions, even this guy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1216933/Spare-thought-Burnley-fan-living-Blackburn-journey-Ewood-Park-derby-clash-FOUR-hours.html I know that particular Lancashire derby is a fiery one, but I'd rate us vs Skates as more volatile, surprised the police haven't tried to insist on something like this. Although that said, chances of P*mpey being able to afford a Robin Reliant for the day, let alone a coach convoy?
