  1. Calling him "Southampton FC defender Mohammed Salisu" sounds like this chap thinks it's done?
  2. It's M&S Salisu?
  3. An update from the Ghana Guardian: https://mobile.ghanaguardian.com/mohammed-salisu-on-the-brink-of-southampton-move?utm_campaign=twitter-post&utm_content=latest-posts&utm_medium=twitter_autopost&utm_source=twitter
  4. He also said Spurs have now entered the bidding today. Wonder if that bid includes KWP?
  5. An interesting synopsis from Hampshire Live on the conditions we'll have to satisfy to get Salisu a work permit for those, who like me, have always wondered how this works: And here are the work permit rules which Southampton and Salisu must abide by to complete the transfer. "Where applicable, a club’s application to register a player has to be accompanied by evidence to allow the League to demonstrate that the player may take up employment in the UK," a statement on the Premier League's website details. "The League will not confirm the player is eligible to play for the club applying to register him until it has received such evidence. (Rule U.13) "Players with passports from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area need permission to work in the UK. A club needs to have applied for a permit prior to the window closing. "The UK Home Office has a points-based system based on which clubs must apply to The FA for a "Governing Body Endorsement" for such players. (See p551 of the Premier League Handbook 2018/19) "If the player does not automatically meet these criteria, the club can request an FA Exceptions Panel consider the player’s experience and value in order to determine whether a Governing Body Endorsement should nevertheless be granted."
  6. Desperately hope this one comes off for no other reason than my late nan had a collie called Omar.
  7. 😂 I still hope the grand plan is to shift Pierre and give Reed the chance to compete with JWP and Romeu for the 2 central roles. That way we can spend whatever cash we have on some priority areas.
  8. Wonder if Djenepo will get a chance for a run out next week before the season ends? Would be good to have an option to replace Redmond if he tires during Sunday's final game.
  9. Brighton now at the front of the queue for Adam Lallana, according to the Sun: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/premierleague/12164551/brighton-leapfrog-leicester-lallana-liverpool/
  10. Decent win. Should've been comfortably ahead before the injury time chaos. KWP outstanding and Ingsy took his goal well before that iffy pen. Led the line superbly too. Adams looked lively and took his goal very well too. Shame the season is ending really. And nice to see the BT faces as disappointed as those from Bompey.
  11. Combined nicely for today's game ender. Think Adams will score more readily in a two up top and with a proper run of game time. Can't help feeling a season loan of regular Championship football would do the world of good for Obafemi but it would need us to find an alternate 4th striker.
  12. Salisu medical imminent according to a random Ghanaian football site: https://kickgh.com/more/ghanaians-abroad/10096-breaking-southampton-reach-12-deal-with-real-valladolid-for-salisu-mohammed
  13. Dreadful first half; excellent second. Not sure why we can't play two halves of decent football regularly. First half hindered by the team selection. Hojbjerg at right back was a disaster and wasn't much better in the midfield. KWP showed what a decent full back can do. Ingsy fantastic as always. If only he had a worthwhile partner up front to share the load. Adams was better than Obafemi though.
  14. If Harry Reed were to come back as Hojbjerg's replacement, surely that would be an upgrade? Unless it was an arm tattoo contest?
  15. I live on the outskirts of Brighton so it's a win tonight for me. Or else I won't hear the end of it! Both, of course, would be preferable though... 😉
  16. It may even be us who have said that to him to tempt him here. It was something Ralph was saying earlier in the season. Bring in talented young players; we get the benefit of that talent for a couple of years then they get sold on for a profit to supposed bigger and better sides, which suits the player, and we re-stock with the next talented player we identify. The only problem with talent identification under previous regimes is it's been shocking at times!
  17. Magnificently committed defending, a stunning goal out of nothing from Adams and amazing work rate by all. Special mentions to McCarthy after his SMS muck up last time out, Stephens & Bednarek who hurled themselves at everything, Adams for even trying that after not being able to score all season and KWP who is surely worth signing up permanently on this form. Very happy and now reaching for a celebratory beer!
  18. Excellent win. Good response to the disappointment v Arsenal. Ingsy clinical and KWP looked decent. Certainly earned a run in the team. Felt for Adams with the chance not going in but still think there's a player there. Good stuff. Onto City now...
  19. Bertrand and Hojbjerg too. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
  20. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-04-09/southampton-football-club-statement-coronavirus-response-april-2020 Well played Saints! Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
  21. Did well when he came on vs Villa. Played an excellent ball through for Armstrong to score the clincher. Doesn't get his arse off the bench when we're 3-1 down today. I don't get it. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
  22. No idea! And not something I can ask them as they didn't make it onto the Panel. For me, away fan experience is to safely enter and exit our ground, spending their money to bolster our coffers and leave having seen their team soundly beaten and their fans thoroughly out sung. Not sure we've achieved bits of that too often in recent times... Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
  23. Conversely, one person who I miss listening to on radio when tuning post-match or during games I couldn't make, and this goes back a number of years, is Jimmy Case. I always found his commentary and the opinions he offered interesting and insightful.
  24. The question was asked but seemingly there's not an answer in the notes from the club: As I recall, the discussion veered more into how our own away allocations are derived but that doesn't mean an unanswered element can't be re-visited at a later time. I have to be honest and say I can't recall an answer to that specific point but I do think the club tried to answer as openly about allocations as they could in the time available (there was quite a bit to cover), as it was an issue they really wanted to respond to having seen stuff online and in contact with individual fans too.
  25. Here's the discussion from the latest Saints Voice meeting. It's lengthy but worth the read... Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
