My brother-in-law knows a developer who's mentioned to him a few times that he's working on plans to re-develop and re-open the Alfred. I can't see it happening myself and there's no activity to suggest something is likely to happen in the immediate term. However, we now have a friendly 'wager' on whether or not it will happen.
