  1. Interesting... Rumour or something stronger?
  2. Redmond & JWP both miss out on the Nation's League final squad (with Winks & Trippier)... :-/
  3. Ok, cool. Yes, looks a promising player and his age/standing fits our profile more than if we were to sign Lallana from Liverpool, I guess.
  4. The chap on loan at Derby from Liverpool? Surely not Callum at Bompey?
  5. Here's his Instagram post, translated from French...
  6. Being someone who is half Chinese, I've always found that how seriously racism is taken depends on a) your race and b) how loudly that particular race shouts about prejudice. Rightly or wrongly, the Chinese generally tend to absorb and ignore racist remarks whilst black and asian groups tend to challenge it more vocally and, therefore, it is taken more seriously and acted upon...
  7. https://www.90min.com/posts/6371766-premier-league-six-confirmed-rule-changes-to-come-into-effect-in-2019-20 Rule changes for next season. It'll be interesting to see how the handball one is applied and not allowing attacking players in the wall could make for some more inventive free kick routines. The substitution one will surely mean a slow walk from the centre circle from now on?
  8. Pellegrino guided Leganes to 11th in La Liga, which seems a reasonable achievement.
  9. Despite our intention to bring in young players "who want to hunt", I think there's still a space (need?) in our squad for an older, more experienced head who can provide leadership and/or calm things down. We're a side who lost 29 points from winning positions past year and this is something we've sorely missed since Steven Davis started to drop out of the side more frequently. We do have Long and Yoshida as older players but the former surely won't be a starter next season and the latter's propensity for the odd gaffe is hardly calming for a jittery enough side already. I'd have him back now he's acknowledged the way he left wasn't great (and presumably the forum gets THEVMAN back too?).
  10. I like this version best, so it's what I'm choosing to believe. Plus it seems feasible too.
  11. Ralph: "Right. Fraser, Jordy, Wesley, Charlie, Moi, Sam M., Sam G., Guido, Cedric, Jack, Shane, you "first teamers" are going to Macau to represent us. The rest of you who I intend to use during the coming season will go with me to Ireland/Austria."
  12. Thanks for the update. Always appreciated. His message on the big screen saying he was excited for next season here was also a big clue too!
  13. Mr Gao's cunning plan to get his cash out of China?
  14. For me, when fit, he's shown flashes of quality & I always felt next season should be the one we judge him on. After 2 injury ravaged seasons, I thought this one might be a bit stop-start and, as his body got used to the rigours of training & playing regularly again, there would be the odd niggle which kept him out from time to time. Time will tell whether the £20m we're giving Liverpool will turn out to be good value but I think I'll reserve judgement until next season. What would help would be better support up front. A pacey option would allow him to drop deep & slide balls through; a more physical presence would allow him to try to find space playing off the target man. Worth cutting a bit of slack for now, IMO.
  15. Hopefully it's Ralph illustrating to the board that staying up was just the start of the job not job done. Squad needs proper surgery to weed out the real dross we've had in the squad over the past 3 years. Sadly, what we'll get is partial reconstruction hampered by players being loaned out as we can't find new clubs for them, I fear.
  16. We drop to 30th, below the Skates, for points per game (yes, I'm a sad statto who's just spent a few minutes of his lunch break doing this): Team Games Pts Pts/Game Rank Man Utd 3775 6356 1.68 1 Liverpool 4132 6833 1.65 2 Arsenal 4131 6711 1.62 3 Tottenham 3392 5049 1.49 4 Leeds 2060 3061 1.49 5 Chelsea 3395 5029 1.48 6 Everton 4516 6642 1.47 7 Aston Villa 4070 5897 1.45 8 Man City 3617 5220 1.44 9 Newcastle 3462 4848 1.40 10 Preston 1720 2403 1.40 11 Wolves 2458 3429 1.40 12 Burnley 2169 2996 1.38 13 Sheff Wed. 2582 3552 1.38 14 Sunderland 3340 4560 1.37 15 Blackburn 2720 3702 1.36 16 Ipswich 1084 1471 1.36 17 Hudds 1334 1808 1.36 18 Nott'm F. 2178 2949 1.35 19 Sheff Utd 2356 3173 1.35 20 Derby 2468 3303 1.34 21 Bolton 2802 3692 1.32 22 Wimbledon 554 729 1.32 23 West Brom 3108 4065 1.31 24 Brentford 210 274 1.30 25 Blackpool 1172 1527 1.30 26 Portsmouth 1356 1765 1.30 27 West Ham 2470 3127 1.27 28 Bury 804 1017 1.26 29 So'ton 1680 2123 1.26 30 Cardiff 704 887 1.26 31 Middlesbro 2438 3065 1.26 32 Charlton 1050 1318 1.26 33 Oldham 484 606 1.25 34 Bradford 468 582 1.24 35 Leicester 2087 2570 1.23 36 Stoke 2372 2917 1.23 37 Luton 658 807 1.23 38 Grimsby 488 598 1.23 39 Q.P.R. 936 1146 1.22 40 Bristol C. 358 436 1.22 41 Coventry 1390 1686 1.21 42 Swansea 350 422 1.21 43 Bradfrd PA 122 147 1.20 44 Notts Co. 1068 1276 1.19 45 Birmingham 2306 2755 1.19 46 Norwich 1016 1213 1.19 47 Watford 476 565 1.19 48 Bournem'th 150 174 1.16 49 Fulham 1034 1178 1.14 50 Accrington 122 138 1.13 51 C Palace 756 830 1.10 52 Brighton 242 264 1.09 53 Wigan 304 331 1.09 54 Reading 114 119 1.04 55 Millwall 76 79 1.04 56 Nrthamptn 42 43 1.02 57 Carlisle 42 41 0.98 58 Oxford 124 119 0.96 59 Barnsley 38 35 0.92 60 Hull C. 190 171 0.90 61 Darwen 56 41 0.73 62 Swindon 42 30 0.71 63 Glossop NE 34 22 0.65 64 Leyton O. 42 27 0.64 65
  17. Now with Lokeren in Belgium and helped them to finish bottom of the Jupiler League this season. I guess they were suckered by the highlights reel too...
  18. Safe. Whew! This season will be remembered for Ralph's rescue job. See it out now & then the summer rebuild will hopefully see a much better season next year.
  19. So do Peterborough...
  20. Could be difficult to get rid then. Who would pay him anything close to that? And would he be willing to take a pay cut if not?
  21. And a sh1t load of bunce to spend too. One can dream...
  22. #UnlikelyLeakFromPanelMember... Saints Voice panel to take over running of the club...
  23. Scandalously bad today & lord knows how he remains a top flight ref. Having said that, isn't it lovely Kevin Friend was on the losing side in the end?
  24. Took his chance today and then some. Needs to do it consistently now. Great to see.
