The Pre-January Transfer Window Thread
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Linked with Man Yoo in the Metro this morning. Would guess they'd edge us out in a race for his signature without Les Reed here to close the deal. -
This arrived through the door at the same time as the announcement. Great news. NOW, we march on..!

Other than the financial side of things, do you know if does he actually care about the appalling playing side of the club and the misguided belief of those managing that side of the business they know what they're doing? I accept you may turn round and say this is a purely financial exercise for him (so the only interest for him is that the better we do, the more cash we should generate) but it would at least be something to get a sense that the current slew of embarrassing performances (particularly at St Mary's) are of vague concern to him.

Just switched my son's u18 ticket, as he can't now go, for an u11 ticket for my daughter getting £8 back. Somehow feel this is the only "win" I'll be celebrating come 5pm on Saturday, unfortunately. :-/

We scored a goal!!! -
Bring back four saints players to save our team.

Clyne, Toby, VvD, Shaw. -
Do either of them go to games any more?
-
He doesn't seem to be alone either. This (non-Saints related story) from the Beeb today: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-45823650 Having watched my mother die of cancer in 2 1/2 months from diagnosis to death, I'm absolutely stunned & disgusted anyone would do this.

Moi apparently injured by one of our own ..

Surprised it wasn't a shot from Shane Long TBH. -
We need proven Premier League defenders IMO. Sadly, we will never see the likes of Andreas Jakobsson & Calum Davenport again though.

Minutes of the first meeting have now been posted on the OS. Pretty good turn out from the club and seemed a genuine willingness to listen: https://southamptonfc.com/supporter-services/saints-voice/meeting-minutes

I asked this at the Saints Voice panel meeting, with the club, back in Sept. This was the reply from Toby Steele, the MD, where he: "accepted that our form last season stalled the communication of these pledges and there was a strong focus on the pitch. These will now be interwoven within the Club strategy, which will be communicated to fans."

McCarthy is apparently the oldest player in the squad, according to the Beeb!!
-
Deservedly so. Thought Ings may have edged in ahead of Welbeck too.
-
Maybe is Hughes is punishing him for the red against Everton still?
-
Beaten by a superior team. Move on.
-
Problem is he gave the ref the chance to give it. If Long & JWP mark their guys properly, we're not feeling like this...
-
4/10. Hughes has given us more attacking purpose but going 5-3-2 all pre season & then playing 4-4-2 is odd (but an improvement). If we'd done this in pre season, we'd have signed another winger, not Armstrong. Winning & making SMS a fortress must be a priority not allowing it to be a 'help yourself to the points' venue.
-
Agree, backpack people is a possibility. Others have said, these have been seen before in the Northam. Thanks for your thoughts.
-
Didn't get on. Pointless him being called up.

What about dedicated drinks only queues?

Ok, this is one on the agenda for the first 'proper' meeting of Saints Voice, on Thursday evening. Aside from better/more timely service at the bar, what are we actually looking for product-wise? I went to the Carabao Cup match, at Brighton, a couple of weeks ago and the pies and burgers were fantastic + they were selling local ale, too. Is this the type of offering we're looking for? Any other foodstuffs? I remember the pizzas were popular, when we first landed at SMS. Any feedback gratefully received. The response from the club on this, and other issues flagged early on, will be a useful barometer for what sort of dialogue this will truly be...

Given K,billy has said Long won't be fit for Brighton and the debate on another thread about whether Gabbi will ever cut the mustard, here's a simple opportunity to say who you'd like up top with Danny Ings on Monday evening. Simple one word answers will suffice (in the absence of me knowing how to make a poll); reasons why you've picked who you've picked are ok, too. Options: Austin; Gabbiaidini; Gallagher; Armstrong (as a deeper no. 10). Austin for me, as he has a knack for scoring against Brighton and must know Ings' game from their Burnley days. Over to you...

Injury seen or suffered at a game
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
Mate of mine was swinging on a pipe at the top of Selhurst Park roof when we scored, lost his grip and hit the gent in front of him with a flying kick in the back of the neck, sending him flying over the seat in front. My ribs were killing me laughing so much. I presume my mate & the chap in front were probably ok tho.
