This is how I see it and have done since the start. No mental gymnastics for me. We cheated, got caught, got fucked. Was the punishment too harsh ? I think many of us ( that is apparently my " brigade") have stated numerous times that A) if the players will still play for him AND B) He is not banned by the FA, then we should keep him. Simple as that.

I think hes finished but if the FA didn't ban him and the players would still play for him then Id have him. Reminds me of the film Margin Call. The only thing that matters is the survival of the club and that means results on the pitch and I think we would struggle to get someone as good as him in and with that the threat of relegation which would bring terrible damage. Results on the pitch are all that matters- for the good of the club. Pretty sure we didn't spy on Arsenal and went toe to toe with the Premier league champions. At first I was furious and wanted him gone but Ive changed my mind.

I came on here this morning about to add that I think he should be booted but after reading a few different points of view I have to admit I see things in a slightly different light plus Ive had a few days for things to calm down. Anyway, I think the FA will ban him so doesn't really matter.

You see, the ramifications could rumble on for years absolutely but......I was thinking about this whilst getting ready for work today. Look at the Trump administration. Think about how they've slipped out of all the catastrophes of the last few years and I just thought, well, they have a better PR machine then we do, but then I thought, what if we just follow his set of rules, which is essentially double down. So let's say the players do still want to play for him and he stays. Yes at the beginning there will be loads of abuse, but football fans have short memories. If he stays and the group stays we have solidity which means we wont slide into oblivion. The club backs him and says he made a mistake but he wants to put things right etc etc. Ie, we double down on him, he ours and we'll protect him, create a siege mentality, us against the world. This is just hypothetical, but this approach could work in our favour. If we get rid and start again and lose loads of players we could be in bigger trouble and the health of the club in that respect should come first. Anyway, its all hypothetical as I say.

I understand that I haven't said anywhere that I condone what has been done, but for the amount of retribution that has been dished out for something - that by their rules is still fundamentally allowed - seems way over the top to me. That was the point I was trying to make and again NOWHERE have I tried to defend what has been carried out.

Theres also the quite arbitrary 72 hours rule. Before that, fine, no problem. A minute after, kill them all.

I live in London and am surrounded by fans of tonnes of different clubs and that includes my mates..... I know it feels more immediate to us but honestly, most people dont give a shit. Much like when bielsa did it, I didn't really care then. What most people have said to me is, why would they risk such massive reputation damage for such limited gains.
