Why? Leeds, Sheff Utd and Burnley who are the three best sides in the Championship are nowhere near equipped to deal with the PL and I dont think any big spending by either side (unlikely as it is anyways) is going to change that. Championship sides are largely reliant on an established PL team having a desperate season - like us in 22/23
-
Hope they go up as its a miserable place to go/team to play under Parker. They'll be back in the EFL by the 26/27 season
-
Che Adams? I think you mean Adam Armstrong. On Che Adams though, as much as he was criticised by the fans at times, if he was still here he would be our best striking option. Emphasises how bad our recruitment has been in that position specifically
-
I expect him to not play 4 full backs. I expect him to not play James Bree or Joe Aribo at CB. If we're desperately short of CBs with injuries/other issues, then why does he persist with a system which requires 3 CBs. Same applies to defensive midfielders. Both problems could be resolved by playing a 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 formation. But we have a manager who is wedded to 5-3-2 at all costs, despite it not working and us not having the players for it. Performances have improved......barely though as we've only been competitive in maybe 3 of his 8 PL games in charge. Nobody will deny that hes been dealt a shite hand, but he knew that and got the job by convincing the board that he had been watching the team and could turn things around. If the current form persists, I cant see Dragan being persuaded to keep him on (despite what he said on Talksport weeks ago)

3 points from a possible 24 and a dismal defeat against Burnley 2nds in the FA Cup. Yes you can blame the lack of fitness, the team being poor, the fact its not his team or whatever, but regardless that is a pretty shite return so far. The whole 'he'll take no prisoners' and the 'no nonsense' approach we were expecting.....I've yet to see it. The performances are still poor, mistakes are still being made, the effort/workrate of some players is still questionable....yet hes commenting that he's happy with the effort and how we've been unlucky at times. Lets just hope we get another win and then cut our losses in the summer. As well as players, I'm sure Spors will have an idea or two for a new manager
-
Theres has to be much better options than Juric and Rohl out there. We'll not find them though
-
Will get even worse towards the end of the season. Do you think he's going to risk a bad injury when hes about to go in the shop window.
-
Roma were reportedly interested, but we turned their offer down (£8 million)
-
We start by identifying our next manager to get us promoted from the Championship. Based on performances so far, it isnt Juric. Imo it also isnt Rohl. If he wasnt Ralph's former assistant, he wouldnt even be on our radar. With Spors in position, we also start identifying a list of players who can help us get promoted, but more importantly provide the foundations for a team capable of avoiding relegation the next time we come up. Too much loyalty was shown to players who failed in the PL before, so the clear out needs to begin
-
Hardly inspiring getting beat by Burnley's second string. Doesnt bode well if Juric is to be kept on next season. Yes, by then it could be a completely new team to suit his system, but playing four full backs is desperate stuff
-
The disaster for a long time was the result of not appointing a replacement and instead promoting from within. Hopefully we've learnt our lesson
-
He'll come in, advise on some good signings, we'll begin to improve and then he'll be poached by a bigger PL club. Thats the model isnt it? Be better to start identifying his replacement now

Summer 24 for me. January 23 we were in desperation mode in an attempt to rescue our season and were frantically trying to recruit players to suit NJ's needs. Plus the January window is always more difficult to do business. Hence why it was a shit show. Summer 24 we can have no excuses. We were riding a high from the previous season and had a settled management. Also for most of the Championship season, we were more likely than not going to get promoted, therefore we should have had a range of suitable targets identifed months in advance of the window opening. Imo it wasnt an awful window.....we were committed to signing THB and Downes, plus Ramsdale was essential. Fernandes has turned out a great signing, but theres £75m spent already. It just felt that we were leaving ourselves short in terms of a budget for a striker (not for the first time). Hence why we ended up signing Archer and BBD for £24m combined. Thats just not going to cut it at PL level
-
In the summer please can we finally rid ourselves of the likes of McCarthy, Stephens, Bednarek, ABK and Smallbone. They're like a bad smell now. I could see us selling Dibling, Ramsdale, Sulemana, BBD and Onuachu, but would be hopeful that we could hold onto the likes of Fernandes, THB and Archer - who could be great assets in the Championship. New GK Suga THB Wood/Edwards Welly Downes New CM New RM Fernandes Edozie/New LM New CF

53 pages......and really nothing worth mentioning
-
Pants pulled down. What do we expect, we've had no DoF for nearly a year now. Those responsible for recruitment may as well be pissing in the wind
-
Has to be a Gotekpe signing
-
Bit extreme. He cost us a whopping £5m and while his attitude and performances have been lacking at times during his 7/8 years here, it hasnt been a bad return (even just for last season alone). The avatar for our atrocious recruitment is Guido Carillo or Ross Stewart
-
Getting Jankewitz vibes with this one. A young player who showed lots of promise, but ultimately the club decided to cash in. Many fans were annoyed at the time but it never worked out for the fella. Hope for SAA's career sake he does well. I would hope that Juric has had a say on this. Also worth remembering that we have Edozie back in the summer
-
Reading that Lazio were hoping to sign him, but now he seems to be coming to us (not sure why 😂)
-
MOTD getting bucked tonight......probably only the third time this season

Bournemouth is the perfect case study. Evanilson was their big price signing in a position that demands it - £35m. They also spent £25m on Tyler Adams and £22m on Sinisterra from Leeds. But in that £20m and below range they have made some very astute signings in the last few windows - Zabarnyi - £20m Outtara - £20m Kerkez - £16m Huijsen - £14m Kluivert - £10m Tavernier £10m Semenyo £9m But like every club, it hasnt been without some players who have failed to deliver on their price tag Traore - £25m Faivre - £14m There are others like Unal, Senesi, Scott who were costly but have delivered to some degree. But this has easily been offset by the £60m they got for Solanke. They're riding that wave that we had in the Koeman years and early Hasenhuttl years where the recruitment was excellent - but crucially the management of the team was excellent also.
