  1. If Bednarek is staying then the addition of Edwards and Wood (with ABK, Lyanco and DCC leaving) is probably an indication that we'll be employing 3 CBs regularly this season. Would have preferred Edwards or Wood with a more experienced CB signing also, but in RM and the club we trust
  2. Might be the last competitive game at Goodison but you'd imagine they'll arrange some send off game or a testamonial against a top European team. Be good to relegate them for good measure though
  3. Good shout
  4. Being from NI and reguarly watching our games, I can confidently say that Shea, Connor Bradley (Liverpool) and Daniel Ballard (Sunderland) have been our stand out players for the past 18 months. Yes the majority of our players are Championship/Scottish Prem/L1 level but Shea is regularly coming up against quality and established international players (Spain last weekend) and putting in some good performances. It hasnt translated into the same level of performances for us, but hes only 20 and provides a good backup option to the likes of Downes. Would rather he stayed as a squad option for this season than being loaned out. Hes an injury away from getting a good run in the side
  5. Been a few GK links already. Hopefully a sign that its a priority for us because it needs to be
  6. We were terrible in the first game, but how we contrived the lose the second game still baffles me
  7. Kompany is so good that his team finished below Rob Edwards' Luton. They must be lining Edwards up for the Barca job.
  8. Context is crucial, particularly when you realise the worst posts were either; a) immediately after we had appointed RM b) 8/9 games into the season (bearing in mind the team were implementing a completely new style of play) c) after we had already secured a playoff spot Criticism is fine but neither situation warranted the overreaction it got from some posters. Some didnt want RM from the get go and that informed their opinion all season. Well, they want him now.
  9. Do you look like your avatar?
  10. Ye had little faith
  11. Bit unfair to put some of those players listed in the same bracket as AA and Bednarek. Both have had multiple seasons in the PL, in fact Bednarek was a mainstay in a mid table PL finish. Im not disputing that we need to strengthen throughout the team, just think both players can be a big part of a successful season back in PL
  12. Relegation battle standard during the dismal end of Ralph's run and the shitshow that was Jones/Selles yes, but they look like players reborn under RM. We will strengthen around these two, but absolutely no reason why they cant be key players next season as we aim for relative safety. If we stand still we will be easily relegated but i imagine we'll be busy in the transfer window. Massive summer ahead

  14. Having a quick stab at what the summer might look like. Ins THB, Downes, Fraser New GK, new LB, new DM, new winger, new CF x2 Outs McCarthy, Lis, Lyanco, Caleta-Car, Brooks, Rothwell, Sulemana, Adams, Onuachu, Mara Undecided Would like see Stu back, but he may want a new challenge. Of the many loanees out, ABK, Perraud and Alcaraz are the ones who could fit our style of play. ABK's injuries are a concern so we may wish to cash in. Perraud offers plenty going forward and is a better defender than Manning. Alcaraz proved he could do well in the PL and that was in a very poor team. The rest of the loanees I'd be happy to see the back of
  15. He may have been 'shoehorned' in, but when it mattered in the last 4 games - including Leeds away which was crucial for confidence, he helped contribute to our defensive solidity. In recent years we've also bemoaned our lack of leaders, Jack is a great leader and was doing that even when he wasnt playing. Hes in the same bracket as McCarthy for me, very good Championship player and has proven he is more than capable of doing it in the PL, but most likely as a backup
  16. Hope so. Would have been very confident in us signing him had Moyes still been there, but Lopategui will wipe the slate clean and give those on the fringes a chance
  17. https://x.com/brfootball/status/1794830771649425493?t=xInnJEJZ2rGMCtMzv4-WVw&s=19 Seems he was dressed up as Hagrid too. All very odd πŸ˜‚
  18. While hes been great for us in the run in, lets not get carried away. It wasnt long ago that he was throwing them in for us Hes a good keeper in the championship and a decent PL backup, but with Bazunu out long term we need a new number 1 next season
  19. What a shite manager Sure hes never won anything and will never win anything with us Should have sacked him in September. RM just got on with it and got the job done. What a super season, picked up a team that was on its arse, played some great football and topped it all off by beating dirty Leeds in the biggest game. The club got it spot on with his appointment πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  20. What a kick in the stones that would be for Ipswich. You would imagine that after b2b promotions he would want to lead them in the PL
  21. I can certainly live with another season in the championship, less so without THB, Downes and KWP. Three of the best players we've seen at our club the last few years
  22. Yes they havent invested much, but to describe the job hes done as unbelievable is a bit much. They still have most of the squad who were playing for them in the PL a few years ago - Bartley, Diangana, Furlong, Yokuslu, Townsend, Kipre, Phillips, Ajayi etc. They've also added Johnston (probably their best player) The playoffs was probably what was expected of them
  23. Get off the fucking pitch. Let the players have a lap or two
  24. Dont know
  25. WBA really arent that great. Apart from Mikey Johnston's pace and height at set pieces, they havent got much threat. If we play half decent then we will win comfortably. This is saints though, so expect an early gifted goal to WBA and us spending most of the game not being able to break them down πŸ™ƒ
