  1. Quite. As I've mentioned to aintclever the PCCs are elected - pretty much all of them are also serving MPs. Just waiting for him to answer why he "expects" there are many other commissioners who are also doing a shit job, despite the fact that the Met are the only police force that have a commissioner (as far as I know) as most other forces have a PCC...
  2. Question too tricky for you then so you had to dodge it. The Avon and Somerset police have just had a new police and crimes commissioner elected. It's early days and we can't really judge him on s couple of months work - his job is also not as high profile as the Dame's. He is an ex army officer though and he is apparently trying to get the majority of the police armed - not convinced that is the way to go, especially given the judgement of many police officers... There is no Weston super mare police force
  3. Profit. They know the planet is warming as well as everyone else does. They also know that the world is currently so hooked on fossil fuels that it really isn't going to affect their bottom line - I imagine during the years they spent millions trying to deny it, they weren't so confident, but turns out we can't get rid of fossil fuels because the alternatives still aren't reliable enough. The sooner we crack the conundrum of nuclear fusion (and scalability) the faster we will solve the climate crisis....
  4. Nope. And I reserve the right to go all MLG on you. It didn't answer the question at all. The report merely mentions that the drop in CO2 levels caused the increase of ice in the Antartic. It didn't put a figure on what the CO2 levels were, which is what the question was asking! Edit - apologies I must have skimmed over the part that states : So it did answer the question - which is a good thing because it means I'm not really like MLG Fag packet maths - if it took circa 120 years for the CO2 to rise by 100ppm it looks like we have at least another 250 years before it even gets close to the tipping point (and that's assuming that CO2 levels will increase linearly like they have in the last 120 years). I'm afraid that I won't be around to witness that and I doubt that anyone five generations from now will remember me (after all, they'll probably have their own problems to deal with).
  5. Given that there were no humans around at that time polluting the atmosphere, what would you attribute that to? PS, technically still not answered the question : Which was asked after your claim that :
  6. Why do you 'expect' that? Aren't all the others 'police and crime comissioners' who are 'elected' officials during local elections (maybe you aren't aware as getting past the front door to vote is usually beyond you ) Incidentally, 8 out of 31 of those are also women....
  7. I assume you didn't understand when I wrote :
  8. Quite fascinating. The opinion seems to have moved from 'Boris is a fucking idiot' to 'Boris is a fucking genius' in the past 2 days. The truth is, 'Boris is a politician' and will therefore be whatever you want him to be as he has zero morals or actual / tangible values.
  9. Doesn't answer the question : What was the level of ghgs when the Antartic was forest 33 million years ago or when the Arctic had no ice 3 million years ago?
  10. What a crazy question. We wouldn't have a thread about Cressida Dick if she were no longer the commisioner. We may well have a replacement thread about Dave or Julie or Bogdan or whoever else is the replacement. Why do you assume people think she is doing a shit job based on her gender and not on the results - or do you genuinely believe the head of the Met is doing a cracking job?
  11. What was the level of ghgs when the Antartic was forest 33 million years ago or when the Arctic had no ice 3 million years ago?
  12. It's not my dictionary, it was another one of Borriersaint's misplaced claims...
  13. Odd really as I'm sure we were told that IS would 'flourish' with the Taliban back in control of Afghanistan and that it would only be a matter of time before nukes were exploded in our cities https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-58781717
  14. Fucking Brexit! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-58781265
  15. Indeed. I'm waiting for Boriersaint to post something from his twitter timeline blaming Brexit for the lack of new cars available
  16. Lol. Last week that was down to Brexit wasn't it?
  17. So reactionary. Must make you a thick right wing racist A couple of questions : 1. (and this one is probably rhetorical), couldn't you borrow a mower (or some petrol) from a neighbour that you haven't pissed off if the grass was so desperately in need of being cut? 2. If (and this is probably very likely) none of your neighbours actually speak to you, why did you need to fill up a full 5 litre jerry can? You've already mentioned that the mower uses less than a gallon for the whole summer (what's that about 20 mows?), so even getting a litre would see you through 4 or 5 more mows and would have left fuel for an ER nurse or a surgeon to fill up and get to work. Not only are you a hoarder, you've probably contributed to someone else's pain and suffering as well. Add to that the CO2 emmissions from a petrol mower and you also cause untold damage to the environment.
  18. No. Why have you mentioned 'regulation petrol can' - the original post that I quoted mentioned 'jerry can' and so do I.
  19. Mankind will survive - just lots less people, which isn't a bad thing.
  20. But it still fills up.... One question, 33 million years ago, the Antarctic ice cap (as we know it now), was largely green forests. 3 million years ago there was no Arctic ice cap. Could it be argued that the current warming is just returning the Earth to its natural state and isn't it a bit melodramatic to claim there will be "no Earth tomorrow unless we spend £35tr today"?
  21. Rightly so! It's October, why the fuck do you need to fill up a jerry can right now that you only use in a lawnmower for cutting the grass during the summer? It's like you haven't noticed what is going on around you or you really just don't give a shit as long as you've got petrol stored in your shed until next April! That's not even considering the fact that you've probably wasted your own money as the petrol will deteriorate sitting in your precious jerry can before you need to use it next year!
  22. The irony
  23. Transit and small box vans (up to 3500kg) are covered by Cat B on your licence (essentially what everyone gets for driving cars). Vehicles over 3.5t and below 7.5t are covered by Cat C1 - if you passed before 1997 you automatically have this, if not you have to take a seperate test. HGV's (Heavy goods vehicles) are covered by Cat C - vehicles over 7.5t that have a fixed cab and rigid body like a bin lorry - seperate licence and CPC is needed for this. The 'E' classification is an add on and denotes that a 'trailer' can be used. So Class C+E is essentially the biggest lorries on the road (or LGVs - Large Goods Vehicles) - think anything that is able to 'jackknife' where a cab is towing a trailer. It is Class C and C+E where there is a shortage of drivers. In your example, C1+E could be a transit van towing a trailer (or an airport minibus with a trailer) - again, if you passed before 1997 you automatically have this on your licence, if not, you need to do an additional test.
  24. Not sure that makes it better!
  25. It's not covered in great detail in the Operation Yellowhammer report so it isn't Brexit related
