Nice to see, not only the purpose of the Circle of Trust again for new joiners, but a recommitment to it's goals, after some more acrimonious posting against it.

Pretty much covered above. "Danger Will Robinson!" Enough concerns to stay away. I've seen plenty of folk who try to convince themselves it will be all right, in the face of multiple red flags. I'd be looking elsewhere.

Baldrick: I have a cunning plan m'lord. So cunning, that you could put a tail on it and mistake it for a Leicester nickname. Club: Go on. Baldrick: We play forwards based on their ability to defend corners. Club: Nathan tried that. Baldrick: We only pretend to sign forwards, confusing opponents with our 4-6-0 formation. Club: Scotland tried that, and amazingly found even having Che and a fictional Stewart up front was an improvement. Baldrick: We sign players for lots of different systems, so opponents are never sure what we'll do. A pacey player in a possession team or a tall forward who can't drop deep. Club: Would you like to be director of football?

Nothing to do with his ability, but if all parties are looking for the move, and he's put a request in, then we may just choose not to risk an injury.

We did bring back Lallana, so..(caveat of his legs not having fallen off, although that hasn't stopped SR). Downes/ Charles/ Romeu Smallbone/ Lallana Aribo/ Alcaraz / O'Riley? Or variations, depending on formation.

I hope so. Anyone not keen on puns will be in a state of Dee-spair reading this thread.

Smallbone developed really well under Martin. Without Downes, he was more limited as were the rest of the team. When asked to fill that role, he was more limited too. When Stephens came into the side, pushing us forward directly, Smallbone had to adjust again. But there were a good number of games where his movement, and tireless workrate made us click. As the season went on, he got better in everything. If Martin moves away from the system that allowed Smallbone to develop, he may struggle. With our current squad, I'd be surprised if he wasn't starting. Short of replacing players on a Forest-like scale, and with clear improvements, we're carrying a number of risks into this season, right across the team.

If only it was that simple. 🙂
