I imagine that the lower his perceived wages, the more of a useful squad player he might become. Partly because the high wage thing wouldn't be trotted out. I seem to recall a manager hinting that he'd had a chat with Aribo, because he was earning quite a bit, and this was when he'd turned into a lump. We got a better version of him after that. Although, he falls into that category of never quite having all the attributes for any position we might want to play him. And we've put him in all over the place. He's versatile in providing some good attributes to replace or fill in for others who can't consistently even do that, in a poor squad. For Rangers I've seen him do well cutting in from the right channel, supporting forwards and occasionally as a fill in forward. About the only areas we choose not to put him. I'm wary of the high wage label anyway. He's on a high wage for us, because SR were determined to get rid of higher ones. We've ended up with a Championship squad, bar Ramsdale, as a result. No doubt SR will happily sell if someone meets their price. But not because I think they'll bring in anyone better. Just because that's their business model and they reckon to make a bigger profit on a replacement.

Moderation is key. So, to answer the questions so many will have: Take a light jog during peak temperatures, wearing multiple, but light layers, to an area of partial shade, where you can sip your whiskey with water.

It used to be we'd attract players with the prospect of playing PL with us, to then move onto better things. Now we attract players with the knowledge that we churn through so many managers, that one of them is bound to like the player, and they can move on to better things. 🙂

As part of setting up our new board, could we have a breakdown of the costs, and amounts earned by individuals, in tabular form? Then we can discuss how accurate those figures seem. 🙂

I'd have thought It won't be automatic, as in the club are obligated to do it out of the goodness of their hearts. But contractually, where there are relegation clauses impacting wages, there will be promotion related clauses too, impacting wages to come at a higher level. Not to mention promotion bonuses etc. Whether they go up to exactly the same level is for the club and agent to fight out. Realistically, clubs keeping players on much lower contracts than the others, due to not having such clauses, or through things like multiple promotions, are going to lose those players, unless there's a renegotiation.

There were plenty of excellent posts and posters on SaintsWeb in 24/25, making the season a bit more bearable. I doubt I'd disagree with a lot of choices. Well, it's a bit awkward handing out the SaintsWeb Niche Awards for 24/25, from my hospital bed, but here goes with a few... Socrates Award: Just like the man who started as a Greek philosopher, before a career in Brazilian football, @gio1saints combined both. What started as something that read as a defence of Russell Martin, contained lots of thought provoking ideas of what we aspire to as fans, as a club and as a sport. Necronomicon Award: @Paul Chuckle for bringing back 17 year old Football Manager player guides, to hilarious effect. Cupid Award: We were all devastated by the departure of Stu's hair. But love finds a way. @Fabrice29 and @notnowcato starred in the doomed period romance, with Russell Martin, sharing windswept, unfulfilled looks of love as the Royal forces of reality overcame their last stand. At the other end of the market, @Matthew Le God's lust for Johannes Spors was sheer filth, and an instant bestseller. LOL Award: @Convict Colony (who will be too modest to accept) and @Turkish (who will add it to the achievements list) for me this season. Lounge Award: @hypochondriac posted his thoughts on a variety of subjects, happy to open up debate in the right spirit.
