Saints vs Swansea - Sunday 12th January 1630
Holmes_and_Watson replied to Football Special's topic in The Saints
A chance to show Swansea the evolution of Martin's possession based game we've all been enjoying. -
Wishing him a speedy and full recovery. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Also good luck to Richard Dryden, one of those stepping up while Tommy recovers.

Never mind his finishing or his ability in the opponent's box. Can he track back to provide an extra man in midfield for some sideways transitions? 🙂

I think that the hardest workers in society are often under valued and certainly under remunerated. Documentaries covering the industrial changes across the decades have shown that the jam mines were a happy working environment, enabling communities to literally stick together. Unlike so many other industries, there has been no suggestion of improper use of tickling sticks. But that still leaves those financial rewards. The Diddymen co-operative did diversify into the 1980's floatation of Arthur Askey's Treacle Mines, opening up global trade, from which they all still benefit.

I can only hope that when you next reach for a jam butty, that you celebrate the brave, hard working diddymen who mined it for our tables and for our nation.

That's a bit of a slur against Ken Dodd and his diddymen, as wholesome and entertaining a comedian who made generations laugh as you could get. That was during times where there were many racist jokes far more to the mainstream. His stance on this subject is beyond reproach.

I'd like to point out that Saintsweb in no way encourages vaudeville related physical comedy or skits. We feel that there is no room in our society for pie throwing, collapsible props or banana skins. We have plenty of bananas skins just watching our own team. Saintsweb feel we are aiding the wider public by keeping our clowns to the technical area.

We need all the help we can get. Besides, with the number of players Chelsea stockpile, they're the one club who would like to be able to play with more players at a time. 🙂

I was using a figure of 11 million for a Champ season. So, we've already gained 4 million! Things are looking up. 🙂
-
When we go down, that's going to limit what we can spend on baseline PSR (unless the rules change). Somewhere around a 57 million mark across 3 seasons. Giving away 12 of that to RM is a significant percentage, which would have to be offset by player sales etc. To those who think we can stay up, with a different manager, then that would be worth the risk. I can only imagine that SR:- Aren't prepared to take the financial hit. Or Have given RM the season, if not more, before any break clauses kick in, or his contract is reduced enough to take the hit. Or are seeing things they like in the underlying data, and are actually willing to build that up over a few seasons under RM (a very rare project job that's given the time). And RM will be able to point to some things, if SR have bought into this approach (and RM successfully hides what's happening with Pep, who they aspire to be) In addition: Are aware, that despite lots of investment, the squad is missing 2 key first team roles as well as being weak yet still bloated. Are also happy they have sell on players in Fernandes, THB and Dibling meeting one of their core criteria.

It's the least I can do to dress as Biggles while singing Vera Lynn songs on my commute into work, in tribute to our brave, brave club. So plucky in the face of overwhelming adversity.

He's still here. He appeared in a League Cup game, where he delivered some very nice passes from defence through the middle, which gets us looking forward, rather than back and across our defence. Other than that appearance, he's not featured.

It's the big issue, not just for football, but ethically too. Do the 10 Stephens clones that RM has been growing in vats have to be registered individually, or do they all just count as one?
-
Much better than 5 from 13! Weston for manager! Oh wait, you said "posts" not "points"... darn...

Person in an indulgent, pampering industry containing numerous, widespread power imbalances and a history of those imbalances being abused, gets found out shocker. Sadly not dealt with right at the start, that this and numerous other industries still have issues and that many others have and probably are getting away with it.

Lumley Wood Taylor KWP Suga Manning Aribo Stephens Fernandes AA Archer 1 nil to us, as their analysts never thought they'd see a line up like that, and are unprepared.

Just saw that in reply to SOGs "Why would I think that anyone would delight in someone else dying in pain?" Well, there was the time he raced on to score points when refugees were killed on a supposed safe route. Then there was the time when he gleefully told us dead hostages were better off with Hamas. Then there's the general inability to consider the suffering of others, with the trivialising of child abuse, faking racially motivated incidents during unrest and anti semitism. And for the thousandth time, the emojis are aimed completely at the poster, not the content. That really seems to have got to him.

While your tact and restraint, in communicating a view shared by others, is to be applauded, could a direct approach have been considered to convey the strength of your point? 🙂

While having every sympathy for individuals, this passing leaves me a bit horrified. I've got very little trust in it not being expanded. The more it is, the worse the outcome for the vulnerable. Some commentators have said they don't feel it goes far enough as it is. I can only hope that such things don't come to pass.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

From what I picked up on it, she left Aviva before or during the opening of an internal investigation. While the phone turned out to still be in her possession, there's lots of data protection issues involved. Then there are the missed opportunities to say it had turned up. The decision making there, raises it's own issues. It sounds as though she would have been fighting dismissal. She ended up with a fraud conviction rather than deciding on transparency after what instigated that incident, a mugging. The press are indicating that it wasn't the first time, and there may have been other incidents. While PM knew of the conviction, the radio said that there was new information (presumably the other incidents), which is why she stepped down. The conviction is spent and she's still an MP, I've not heard of anything of an ongoing criminal investigation so the government will be looking at this as a quick, clear process. Following her quotes on P&O and others, no doubt there are some in her party that won't be shedding any tears.
