  1. Private Eye, amongst others have shown us exactly what she knew, when she knew it and the lengths she and they went to in order to cover up the persecution and prosecution of postmasters. One snippet showed some canvassing done ahead of her accepting a CBE. Lots of fawning from others familiar to the enquiry. One person outlined that it was a disgrace, and she should not accept it, as one day she would be found out, and have to return it. That view point was dismissed as a minority one, by the fawners. No chance she will own up to the extent of her involvement.
  2. I think our period of mourning his departure, will last at least until the first anniversary.
  3. The long contracts they gave as many of their new players to spread costs, selling Gallagher, loan fees and sales from their player farm will go a long way to balancecthat. Poch always used to say it would take a while for his ideas to sink in, and for him the change a club's direction. Multiply that with the nonsense going on at Chelsea, and that could well have been things turning round. But it looks as though all parties had enough by that stage.
  4. From the few sound bites I'd heard from Poch, it sounded as though he saw it coming. Also that he'd gone through some internal discussions, and wasn't going to be that upset if it did.
  5. Doesn't our Monkey Chicken Petting Zoo have one of those?
  6. I reckon that switch to 3 at the back took some by surprise, not least Leeds. Our "guess cap'n shoehorn's position this week" posts offer another example. And to be fair to Russ, he's being making some changes within his preferred set up, even if needed by available personnel. 🙂
  7. All of that is Trousers perfect holiday, game or no game. Oh how he fought that Mexican break. 🙂
  8. Meh! I was asked this morning if I was going to be watching any of the Big Day of football. I blinked. Couldn't have cared less, and back out into the garden. Title being fought out between state owned sportswashers, fighting 100+ rules breaches against Super League sign ups, Paul Davis employers and recently backed by a crooked oligarch. All under VAR and endless hyperbole. No ta.
  9. One Clinton speech stays in my mind, when she was outlining the future of her country. She spoke of bespoke industries, using the highly educated to exploit niches in markets and technology. It stays in my mind as it was clearly ignoring a large number of voters. Her country had to exploit gaps to succeed. Not long afterwards Trump came out reminding his target audience how powerful their country was, that they hadn't been forgotten, and that he'd work to remove the corruption and elitism that was excluding their views. After the outcome, what surprised me were the Democratic soundbites demonising all of the opposition, for that outcome. There must have been some who thought that if they had managed to pick anyone not mired in corruption, elitism and maintainng a class of utter troughers, who could plan without ignoring existing workers, they would be winning any election. Sadly, that doesn't seem to have entered any decision making minds in their party.
  10. Why would we want to give away our secrets on a public forum? It wasn't that long ago, our chat of "injuries" at set times, got it's way into the press. That's why we set up the invite only tactics sub forum, after all.
  11. On their posts Proper socks are important, to help avoid...the agony of de feet. 🙂
  12. Here's a link to a Leeds forum discussing the build up. We get a couple of shout outs. https://www.motforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46532&start=20
  13. New investors spend a billion pounds on the team. We win every match, but get promptly relegated for going so far over the budget?
  14. I could see a scenario where we don't go up, Brighton want Martin, we get compensation, and adopt something a little different next season to solve some of this year's issues. On one hand there are the quotes of him being young, promising and improving. On the other, the stark financial realities of a results based business.
  15. He's bound to be on their radar. Why they're using radar and not data, results and management skills I'm not sure. 🙂 Norwich and Hull have dispensed with their managers for not going up. We don't know the direction the club might take if we don't.
  16. Even there, although they telepathically control us through emotional prods in the parts of our brain with common ancestry to reptiles.
  17. The use of language to oppress cultures and races isn't much of a reach.
  18. Watching Will develop his game has been one of the highlights of the season. He's asked to do so many roles, and has improved in all of them, which has boosted his all round game too. Last night was a prime example. Stephens likes to push forward then pass, taking Will's normal game out a bit. So Will is tasked with that more forward role, but still one where he does tons of link up play. When a previous manager put Will in an advanced role, it didn't work out at all. It's taken a lot of work, with Martin giving Will praise for having to pick up even more tasks, some of which weren't his biggest strengths. In that role, he's now an outlet for shots outside the box, gets into the box for cut backs but still works back to set up attacks. As always, he's constantly moving to give the side shape. The areas he moves into, depending on the ask, has also got better. That got tweaked again last night in the absence of Adams. It took a little while, but I saw AA and Will picking up a couple of trademark Che drop backs. Although he got in at least one good defensive tackle last night, that's not his game. It's hard to say if he covers the most distance. But only because we have AA in the side. But he must be up there across the league, even if it's not driving runs that Downes gives us. The team needs Downes in it. When he's there, Will can then use his natural game. He looked very comfortable and key to how the side ticked last night. Good to see how well he gets on with the others and Martin too.
  19. That late goal makes the scoreline a lot closer than the game. They had a little spell of pressure. But we we're solid. They had a shot from a direct ball. Alex had a little fumble that came to nothing. We weakened with late subs and turned off for that final minute set piece. All that work on our passing game pays off as we controlled that game. Lots of running. Lots of awareness. Loads of plusses for everyone. Downes an absolute engine; Will in that more forward role making excellent runs and bringing others into the game, cracking goal; Aribo using his strength and while not always demanding it, does all good things when on it; tireless AA using striker instincts with mobility and tracking back too; Brooks a lot more involved linking up well and we should have got a pen; KWP class and a different level of player. THB and Bedders in that solid, unshoehorned partnership; Stephens had the odd pass go astray. But pitched in all over. Thought he was going to shoot late on; Alex in goal looks the better shot stopper, and we weren't troubled passing it out. We tried mixing the range up a bit tonight, which pins opponents back; Fraser put in a lot of work, allowing others to get into positions. Not a match where two similar teams try to get an edge. We controlled that one, and we're clear winners.
  20. Early Rothwell touch. But he turns and looks forward. We donhave a pass it back or side tendency, so nice to see.
