  1. News next summer... SR stunned as 20 000 season ticket holders announce they will not renew citing a better "customer experience" at Sholing FC. "Once we agreed with SR that results didn't matter," said one former ST holder, "we realised that we were more interested in a fan community, decent beer and a good afternoon enjoying being at a match with our mates. Why pay 10 times as much?" Taking time away from creating alt IDs on a football forum, a Saints spokesperson tried to apologise for treating fans as wallet carrying cattle. However SR did concede that Sholing's new marquee did look nice, and asked if they would be interested in a possession based manager.
  2. I sometimes wonder if clubs would be quite happy to ditch "legacy" fans, if they could pack out the ground with dynamically priced tourists there to see "big" PL clubs, and spend money as part of a match day experience package.
  3. Yup. Martin and agent would have rightly pushed to have an automatic extension clause on meeting key deliverables. Of which getting promoted was really it. Whether he over or under achieved in getting there in our minds, it was achieved. Any organisation worth it's competence would insert break clauses. SR look to be once again staring at an open stable door while the horses are out practicing defensive errors in the paddock. On one hand, despite slumps last season, they've not anticipated it going so badly wrong. On the other, they are relying on Mr Football who simply hasn't the knowledge or incentive in his own deliverables to steer the club. Any breaks could be after a season, having made rumblings on how hard that it would be a struggle to stay up. Perhaps half a season at best, to give Martin a chance to have played everyone. The alternative is to pay out 12 - 14million.
  4. Radio discussing a manager's response to fans. They all feel it was unacceptable, could have been avoided and their results tell their own story. It's Spurs they are talking about. Then moved onto Chelsea, then Arsenal... They couldn't care less about us, as they consider us to be one of the fodder clubs for the big 6 they obsessed over. And their obsession is so lacking in insight as to be worthless anyway.
  5. Bweaking news... Wussell weweased!
  6. I'm Spartacus!
  7. I watched a lot of Norwich under Farke. His system looked great as they had 2 very useful attacking full backs. They passed it out to either of those, to use as attacking outlets. They also depended a bit on having a decent creative central attacking midfielder, who could supply a central forward. Lots of players elsewhere playing to their limits, for a club that found it easier to renew their contracts than be able to afford upgrades. Great when it worked. Dreadful when it got found out. Farke absolutely insisted on it regardless, and it drove their fans mad. Looking back, he shared an outlook with Martin, that overall it would be better his way than the alternative. Differences were that Farke would look to use his attacking players to, well, attack. The others would do what they could. We, on the other hand have much better players on the whole playing in an extreme risk averse set up. Martin used to be trotted out when it was going South and spout the same nonsense we're hearing from him now.
  8. Ah, I see. Sales and Circulation just didn't sound like something a brave prosecutor of knife and sexual assault would be involved in. Had I read something about refusing to follow trial verdicts, getting procedures wrong on defendants, faking racially motivated crimes or trivialising child abuse, then I would have known it was firmly in his CPS skillset. While it might seem hard for him to keep his experience consistent, I'm sure he meets lots of people who coincidentally also have exactly the same issue.
  9. I've not really been reading, but wasn't that a different set of outdated, hard copy, coloured folders containing the actual work of others, at the CPS? The above was presumably using his pious intolerance, to play a part in the the Guardian's ongoing sales slump and transformation into parody paper.
  10. That makes sense of his comments on his England debut. "Other kids dream of representing their country. I'm honoured too. Even though it's not as good as being part of the least successful club in league history. Being cut adrift at the bottom of the table, as quickly as possible, is where my true passion lies. It's what we want as footballers."
  11. Oh no! Just reading back RM's last press conference... Hello Everyone Listening Please Consider On Lots of In Play Nuances Involved in Soccerball Instead try Not to Cast Hateful Aspersions Regarding my Genius Evolution of Soccerball, Taking On Powerhouses as Historically Implemented by Me
  12. >sniff< I always liked your posts. 🙂
  13. Dance off after the game? Can't have been football related.
  14. Still, when he gives up coaching, Martin has his career in Hot Chip (formerly The Legoheads) to fall back on. Passed back Passed back Passed back, I'll give you passed back Passed back Passed back Passed back, I'll give you passed back Over and over and over and over and over Like a player coached out of natural talent The grind of repetition really gets to you Error and error and error and error and error The fear in repetition really keeps you in step And when I feel this way I really feel like I'm Pep Passed back Passed back Passed back, I'll give you passed back Passed back Passed back Passed back, I'll give you passed back
  15. Scotch video saw the future, adjusting the endless repetition of "pass it back, repeat the next day." for their campaign. Note, they got the person who had to watch it for a season, to star in the ad.
  16. Perhaps it would be even worse without...actually, that's quite hard to imagine...
  17. Baz.
  18. "Gregg?" Darn...gave myself away...
  19. Who can forget the breakout chart success of '80s rap group The Santa Trans Crew, with their hit Antler Drop?
  20. Another day, another creepy disaster, by the sounds of it.
  21. That time developing world class radio stations and catering pays off in giving bread and circuses to the masses! Hail Caesar!
  22. "Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has moved quickly to secure a highly-rated manager who has done well in difficult circumstances in Berkshire." It's a brave move leaving a promotion chasing side for a struggling one with expectations. But he's done well at Reading in very difficult circumstances. Just the sort of up and coming manager that SR....oh....
  23. After a robust exchange of views, those attending have agreed that a bit more red is needed for the next light show.
