Tsk. You read someone's posts for a while, and it turns out they are imaginary and off to SOG's lunches. ๐

Clearly the solution is embrace people crossing the channel on boats, sign them up and we'll have a more functional navy. ๐

Now that we've seen them, it's our turn to hide. UK reduced to playing hide and seek in the face of conflict. ๐

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Holmes_and_Watson replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Should I ever find myself as a pious misogynist shouting antisemitic abuse over my Guardian, I can just put it down to being one of those days. I could then go on to make condescending remarks to the mixed race bar maid in a happier frame of mind, knowing I was really fine. The idiot's idiot of the year award is going nowhere for another year. -
Whatever your political stance, the message is clear: Distrust Facial Hair

I'm a bit shocked that still some people this odious man. I naively thought that still some people this odious man. But to hear that still some people this odious man, will make me reconsider my view that still some people this odious man.

Lots of good points Hypo. I'm not sure how current it is, but more about the FAB here. https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/news/article/learn-more-about-your-fan-advisory-board I'm picking out:- We currently have 16 active and committed members who represent a broad cross section of our fanbase covering age, gender, Season and non-Season Ticket Holders and both Menโs and Womenโs team fans - members sit in all different areas of the ground so youโll likely have seen them about. And that they were originally selected through a supporter vote. So, no mandate for having to have the voices from only specific groups on there, whether identity politics led or any other politics. I'd want all voices and feedback heard. And I don't know that that's not currently the case regardless of who is currently on the FAB. The box ticking post was a good reminder of how cynically put together such things can be. I've no problem with the usual banter against the group itself. I would have for any personal shots. The people on there could be any of us, or our friends and family.

I'd not want to read homophobic/ transphobic comments on a board either. I should point out that my first reaction to one of the posts @SW11_Saint mentioned was disappointed surprise. A moment later, I realised that it was because I'd not grasped the point of it, which was about the representation on the FAB. This can be a challenging thread. In that it challenges views on our culture. Particularly with the T in LGBT, we've seen massive debates, changes in views, legislation and things like the Cass report, and various legal cases. All that should be kept in mind as valid areas for discussion, before any labelling/ offence is made/ taken in my view.

No call for that. Mods! ๐

I think the title is more of a statement than invitation. Rank previous managers. Yes, they were rank.

I'd like to think he was personally responsible. He has boundless energy when it comes to petty vindictiveness. As we watch a lovely bit of unity as Trump and Democrats hold hands in front of a blazing pyre of shredded Epstein documents, I'm reminded of a Beeb podcast from the last couple of days. In it, the passing subject of Trump being a FBI informer was raised. "Like a lot of conspiracy theories, they can be relatively true" said the host. Quite a different stance from our fact checking, verifying Beeb. This was from the person to share what I thought was the only bit of honesty about their election coverage. That they had tried to see the US electorate through their own value system, rather than report on what was there. So, on one hand a bit disappointing to see him embracing conspiracies. Unless, of course, that was just a clumsy way of saying this one really was true.... Oh look, it's our middle eastern guest has arrived at the Epstein documents pyre, wondering if using it to dispose of dissidents would be less messy than murdering them in embassies. "Things happen" as Donald says.

Saw one of these in my town. Don't know what it's called put it looks like it has potential. -
Our not winning is frequently more than a feeling. ๐

Norwich fans did end up protesting against Stuart Webber when he was DOF, after a dismal time of it. I wonder how long their patience would last under Martin in particular. They were sick of watching Farke's uni-system fail.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Holmes_and_Watson replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
According to Beeb's Newscast, Labour's new media policy is to focus exclusively/relentlessly on a single topic for a week. This is because they feel their good things are lost in the newscycles. They could now spend plenty of time reinforcing each message until it clicks with the electorate. In practice, it also would give them a chance across a week to outlast anything else. Last week was supposed to be Wes Streting and the NHS. The leadership briefings from Starmer's own team did for that across the whole week. Streeting did get lots of strong moments. He was pre-booked to talk NHS, so was on hand to deal firmly with the mess. This week it's Mahmood on immigration. Which, apart from the expected factions on the left and right seems to have been well received. All sides seem to have respected her strength of conviction and oratory. It is also having the effect of leaving Starmer quite a bit in the background. The whole point of last week, was for him to come out and say he'd fight for his leadership. Having made so many concessions and u turns to get himself and labour into power, he's now on the backfoot to those in his party who communicate their convictions better. -
SR's 10 year plan got leaked internally? Maybe they didn't fancy playing in the National League. ๐

This. Ralph's the only one not tainted fully by SR in the PL. Which is oddly, when things went well for periods. The thread title should really be rate SR tainted managers. To differentiate between them, and the likes of Lawrie, Ronald, Ted, WGS etc.

The point I took from some of the posts was how representative of the actual support is FAB? If there are people on the FAB representing some groups, and not others, why those groups, and not others? is there a disproportionate impact on decision making/ initiatives? Now, for all I know FAB don't actually represent specific groups, despite what the bios for some suggest. It could be that FAB are pretty toothless and/or this is just a random selection of those who were interested. There's also no reason why Initiatives supporting some groups wouldn't benefit the wider fanbase.

That's one thing about SR. You're in acceptance stage 7, thinking it can't get worse now. And then they make their next decision, and it's right back to stage 1.
