  1. Last season met them at a game LLS + St David. Spoke with them for a bit - St D was determnined to show me his mobile 'connections' - Not bad or malicious guys, but seriously deluded.... sorry could not take them seriously at all.
  2. You know who I mean.... The danger was always going to be we would end up with greater numpties or no bidders and liquidation and that was considered preferable....
  3. ...no they are serious players and have Kevin Keegan's mobile number on their mobiles... they showed me! ...... lord help us
  4. This is scary... .... and some folk welcomed admin....
  5. I hope they get more and agree a CVA - because if they only get 10p in the pound we are looking at further poiints deductions....
  6. Those are fair points, but if you had to describe what it was about Pearson that led you to this opinion, what would say were the reasons? I really admired Pearsons public persona - he always came accross as intelligent, focussed and above truthful. He engendered trust and respect by comming across as a man of integrity. Its why even forgetting about NDAs and other such rubbish, I doubt he will sling mud in our direction even if he were allowed to - simply not his style. I do believe JP would have made a great youth coach - the style he was getting them to play was appealing but lacked effectiveness in the 'manly' league, but remain unconvinced as to how Perason would have got these inexperienced kids to do that much better?
  7. Commonly known amongst the A+E professionals as 'Organ donors'
  8. I'm not quite sure why some fans have such high expectations of what a buyout is likely to bring... The best I am hoping for at this time is that we get an offer big enough to satisfy the creditors - and the FL. It needs to deonstrate we have not avoided paying off the majority of the debt else its additional point deductions. Then and only then should we be worried about any inward investment into the team.... this notion that bidders may want to 'keep back' more cash to invest in the team than pay off creditors is a bit galling - I hope we find a decent crowd with some decent feckin morals and ethics for a change that see it as a duty not to leave, particularly the smaller creditors in the mire. Mr Fry at least will be lookinto recommend the bid that offers the creditors the best returen - not the one that potentailly has more capital available to inject into the club following completion and that is not only Mr Fry doing his job as set out, but also a good thing IMHO.
  9. Fair points and thanks for the response - I would agree in mmost part with the possible exception of Lowe lacking the will to keep good players and progress. Why do I believe this? In part its possibly his ego, we know how he has always desired to sit at the top table - and in this respect ego can be a positive force as it drives ambition. Ambition? Lowe? surely mutually exclusive? ;-) Well if we equate ambition with spending big in the transfer market or big wages demands then yes, but I dont think this reluctance was due to an unwillingness, but the simple fact he wantedto maintain the ceiling at a level of our income - what he should ahve done is let the manager (if trustworthy) dictate that policy within the max total... trouble was we had so many managers the squad became inflated - However, i would suspect that that situation was not something Lowe would have been exactly ecstatic with himself.... I used to live in Oxfordshire - a friend of mine from the village worked for Lowe on and off - generaly property mainteance that sort of thing. He spoke football with Lowe on several occasions. His perspective was one of surprise in that he always assumes Lowe to be ignorant or uninterseted in the game, yet found someone quite passionate about saints. Of particular note was how Lowe said privately how it was one of teh proudest days in his life when he saw the sea of yellow at Cardiff, how he genuinely thought that with a different approach we could build on this - how livid he wa firstly when Hoddle went (finally finding a manager who seemed to be able to progress us without the desperation to spend money we did not have , and second when Strachan did the same - I guess one reason why his approach was an even closer tie to the the pursestrings? Some on here will jump on this very swiftly as some sort of Lowe worship - far from it, as my previous post acknowledges the huge errors of judgement etc, but this was in repsonse to a particular point on which I happily admit I do see the logic in. Pearson - yes I hope he goes on to be a very good manager because wishing him ill just to score points would be churlish and vindictive - he deserves to progress because i admire his attitude and naturally the more successful he is, the greater a blunder it looks as we missed the boat - but surely we have to move on etc.... Who let Scott Macdonald go by the way? ;-)
  10. Indeed, was funny though - It is tricky whatever your perspective - when desperate for something new that will improve things, there is a tendency to grasp at whatever positives there are - in Wilde case the 'good old down to earth bit' supported by the now legendary investors.... I dont want/need a chairman who is constantly on a charm offensive or sycophantic towards fans, I want someone who does what is necessary, difficult or otherwise, but has the communication skills to get fans to understand WHY those decions were necessary - and a naturally a fan base that can accept that its not always easy or about a black or white decision - so got feck all chance there then ;-)
  11. Pearson may well go on to prove he has LEARNED his trade well in League one - does not mean he would have some how performed miracles with teh resources we had this season - a subtle but important point. Why is it that some fans think that you cant have an opinion on the positive aspects of approaches (despite the outcomes being not as planned) without it being seen as somehow endorsing EVERYTHING someone stands for? Its simply not the case.
  12. Maybe if I say there WONT be a press conference today and nothing will happen the opposite should occur and we are saved today? ;-)
  13. NO, Rupert LOwe had his Own ideas about How to run a football club - financially within its means seen as lacking ambition by some - and alternative to the old school standard approach in others - some good, some bad , some with disasterous consequences - the problem in football with such a huge gulf betwen the premiership riches and the rest, is that the consequences of failure are so devastating and its a very fine line between falure and survival...
  14. Reasonably balanced and from my perspective a good thoughtful post, but you run dangerously close to perceived 'luvviedom';-) I think you put rather better than I have how its important to differentiate the emotional and personal thoughts towards Lowe for his errors and try to understand how and why we are where we are - not out of some obsessional need for blame, but to allow us to move forward united and progressively. More 'truth and reconciliation' than 'balme and shame'
  15. It is certainly true that had Pearson stayed and had both the best of the kids AND the established pros to work with all season then I would concede we would most likely have had better results - but, the problem I have is that we can only speculate about the financial impact and the REAL state of affairs that led to the decions of sending these pros out on loan. The two are related, but not the same. UP has always maintained that Pearson WOULD have given us a better shot at survival than JP, or that Pearson could also have worked with the kids arguing that Leicester also had a youngish side... I dont disagree completely, but would still point out that that ASSUMES Pearson would have had those resources to hand. I suspect that Pearson had he stayed would have found himself in charge of the same squad (with teh obviousl few excepetions) as JP and then Wotte. Would he have done any better under those circumstances? Its hard to tell, because it was teh kids naiviety an lack of experience that led to the results. What iI would admit to and I have come round a bit on this is that whatever logic Lowe thought there was in a continental 'Ajax' style youth -reserves-first team continuity set up (a system thatt eventually leads to a conveyour belt of ready made replacements when inevitably the most talented depart for more money...) - and I do think there is merit in that approach for provincial clubs without teh financial resources to buy success or replace top players in the transfer market - there were two major problems with Lowes judgement: 1) Timing - at a time when most fans were for the first time in ages feeling good about Pearson and survival, Lowe could have scored a reluctant positive PR goal, by sticking with him and acknowledging the work he had done - afterall Perason is a clam, intelligent and rational bloke - who ironically would probably have worked well with Lowe in that hes not the sort to whinge and moan publically when he does not get his way etc....Instead Lowe scioored a massive own PR goal and fans were againts him and anything he brought in to replace Pearson from teh start - made worse when results indicated 'I told you so' 2) Naivity of the CCC - It should not have escaped his notice that we played best against teh better footballing teams - thaose that came on and attacked leaving space for us to play - we still lost more due to inexperienced defending - but played better. Against 80% of the CCC sides however, who when coming to SMS defended in numbers and looked to the break, we simply could not break them down - no surprises as to why we gained more away points than at home. Cue, Alpine to say this uis some sort of Lowe defence.... yawn ... ;-)
  16. Thats probably the biggest of Lowe's mistakes to be honest - not the concept, but thethought it would work in the CCC. Think he had visions of us being the Arsenal of the Championship and walking this league .... As more of a fan of the purist approach, I can not fault the desire to see home grown kids come through playing attacking passing football but as many have said, the evidence for the folly is in the results.... its sad in more than one way, because I would hate to see us end up doing the opposite extreme with hit and hope hoofball to old journeymen pros on a last earner and the decline of the academy...
  17. I agree, I too wish he would shut up - BUT if we are all 'desperately waiting' for 'revelations' from Pearson or others about 'what went on' then surely its only right that ALL factions have their say and pesent their side?
  18. Eh? WTF? NOt sure how you read fan blame into this... it was and is a fact of life and football that EVERY club gets drop off when going down the leagues and wise management will budget for this - and dont forget that part of this figure is made up of ticket price reductions ..... so not sure what you point is?
  19. Simple leaverage - Wilde wanted back in - a control thing so needed Lowe - Wilde will not really have been interested in the Manager choice as long as he was back on the board - LOwe would have convinced him it was the way to go...... I think those saying the JP/Wotte youth thing was because they were cheaper than Pearson, may be right, but I think Pearson was never going to get the job even had he volunteered to do it for free.. the conspiracy theorists will have this down as some sort of LOwe vendetta as Pearson was a crouch appointee, but from what Wilde said April last year, when thinking about getting back into bed with Lowe it was clear Lowe had been harbouring the dutch/youth set up for some time - probably since his Ajax visits in the early 2000's....
  20. LOL. TBH with Lowe and Crouch you can see both the good and the bad - and our standpoints just depends on how we rate or acknowledge these criteria - or in some cases how open we are to acknowledging merit where at first glance there appears to be none or hindsight/history/experience delivers a blow against it.... but with Wilde, he whipped up a frenzy, 'went Wilde' and did precisely feck all....
  21. LOL, how on earth you read these things into posts is beyond me - you need newe glasses or stop drinking that potent pilsner with naked Austrian monks....
  22. It is the thought of Alps Love, that is most worrying, ;-)
  23. 1. Manifesto promises = typically bull**** - some of us pointed that out at the time...but were ignored as the jingoistic ****** and 'lets go wilde T shirts' became the opium of the masses... 2. Control - simple as - on te outside he had no say in what happened with potentially lucrative development contracts is my suposition - especially at a time when there was a great deal of talk about outside investors and takeovers...
  24. You are in need of some help with this ridiculous obsession. You need to clam down, relax, have a cold one - you know those beers brewed by naked monks - chill a bit and try to understand that.... EXPRESSING THE DESIRE TO SEE LISTEN AND ACKNOWLEDGE BOTH SIDES OF AN ARGUMENT IS WHAT IS CALLED CIVILISED AND MATURE BEHAVIOUR - AS OPPOSED THE THE IGNORANCE THAT COMES WITH THR REFUSAL TO ENGAGE WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN your ENGRAINED VIEWS. All you do is name call and accuse of 'wishy washy' ****** etc - why not try the more sensible approach and debate your reasons why YOU feel that in this case its so black and white??? Or do you actually know your arguments are so weak? Can you not seperate the rational from the emotional? Emotionally, I can hand on heart dislike Lowe and for all that he has brought upon us... (let alone for being a feckin UKIP member) rationally, I can acknowledge that it was not all down to him, was not planned in some malicious way and there was even logic to what he was trying in challenging the old school way - afterall we had feck all chance of progressing traditionally without more capital, so why not try a different approach? So Darling, why the feck cant you see that for what it is? Why the feck do you feel the need to respond to everyone of my 'balanced' posts with a one line put down? got nothing better to say? If I didn't know any better I 'd think you were a cyber stalker.... Give us your views and the rational on which they are based for a change, not more pathetic morose misery induced melancholic depressive eyeore inspired sad pathetic negativity followed by another online dig at anyone who YOU BELIEVE to be of a particular 'side' ...oh and stop stalking me ;-)
  25. Having those views is one thing comrade, feeling the need to comment whne not actually cotributing to the debate - but just to try and ridicule is what I find most juvenile ;-)
