  1. I have unfollowed MLT on twitter as I got bored of his contant digs and sniping. Yes he was a truly fantastic player, yes he kept us up for years, yes he was loyal. But that is gone now, history. This is a new era for SFC and yet it seems to me that MLT still wants to be the centre of attention. Shame.
  2. Thanks for posting that... finally some sense being shown. Sums up my feelings on the matter perfectly.
  3. I totally agree with you but many this is what so many posters seem to get upset about.
  4. In a business sense, Cortese can't be faulted. Pro -Sacked Pardew, got in Adkins - Cat 1 academy - New training facilities -Won't be held to ransom by players (eg. Punch) -Won't pay over the odds for players -Two promotions - Wembley final Cons - Acts a businessman and makes decisions ruled by the head, not the heart. - Upset fans when sacking Pardew -Upset fans when sacking NA -Doesn't tell the fans or the press what players we are trying to sign. Love him or hate him, he's done alright so far. And for the record, I didnt want NA to go but this is business and an investment, not merely football.
  5. Surely this thread is a wind up. Didn't this very forum raise funds for a flag to honour Mr Liebherr and what he did to save the club. They have provided us with some great football, great memories and ultimately a club to still support. Now you want to boo them. Please get a grip.
  6. Because they saved Southampton Football Club. Your village must be missing an idiot tonight!
  7. Alex Goring Crook ‏@alex_crook Davis spoke about negativity from the stands: "We experienced that at Chelsea and it made an impact. Fans need to put club first." saintsfc Alex Goring Crook ‏@alex_crook Davis also urged fans to 'trust' Nicola Cortese: "The club have not made bad decisions so far. They know what they are doing." #saintsfc Alex Goring Crook ‏@alex_crook Davis "There has been no negativity in the dressing room or on the training pitch. The players will be very professional. We are committed."
  8. Could be a very long time. Time to move on Wee Jock McPlop!
  9. Agreed.... its done now. Nige will leave with a positive record, love of the fans, a hefty pay off and the possibility of the Blackpool job. We have got a new era under a new manager. If your glass is half empty we are doomed as he cant speak English and doesn't know the English game. Half full and we've got a good young manager who can attract some top quality players to an ever more successful team. You decide... I've just got a new pint though!
  10. Life goes on. I was a huge supporter of NA when some were calling for his head. At no point have I ever wanted him replaced. BUT these things happen in football... Adkins left S****horpe for us to better himself, he got rid of our old skipper to Brighton after double promotion to better the team. As Adkins himself says, be the best you can be and that is what SFC are striving for. When NC became chairman we could only dream of transfer battles with Liverpool over players and £10+ million signings. Now we have a new training facility, Cat 1 academy, Premiership football and possibly some more top quality European footballers. NA played a key role in this and will always be remembered for what he did for the club. Now we move on, support the new gaffer and support the team.
  11. So if you can't speak the language you're not fit to manage a team........ so Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich is gonna be a disaster?
  12. NA has been a great servant to the club, led us to two promotions and got us on the way to premiership survival. Did he deserve to go.... probably not at this present time but he was certainly on thin ice. Nigel will get another job and I have no doubt he will be very successful. I will be writing him a letter to show him that I truly appreciate what he has done for the club. BUT... Dean Hammond was deemed not up to the Prem, Billy Sharp was deemed not up to the Prem, Dan Harding not up to the Prem. NA cut these players so he knows what a ruthless game football can be. Was he looking at other midfield targets before Hammond moved on, was he looking for other strikers before Billy Sharp left? I would say yes but all you conspiracy theorists would say NC makes all the signings. I am excited about the future of the club. We have a young manager, money to spend and a good squad.

  14. It seems a no win situation for NC and NA. Don't buy and get accused of a lack of ambition and investment. Do buy and get accused of irresponsible spending in case we go down. If we had Harry in charge then I would be worrying about any signings but I've got faith in the management we have. QPR have signed Tal Ben Haim the geriatric mercenary and we have got a young, talented centre back. Know which I prefer.

  20. Cambridge United. Was born there and grew to love John Becks hoofball, long grass, and Dion.
  21. I think that some fans have been spoilt over the past two seasons and have completely forgotten what a struggle it is and always has been in the Premiership. In the previous regime we got through a significant number of managers and had we not had somebody of the quality or loyalty of Le Tiss we would have been relegated far earlier than we were. Some may say that the changing managers kept us up but I feel that this merely led to our demise and administration. A manager comes in, get in his players on long term contracts, gets the boot, new man comes in, gets in new players. The end result is a squad the size of a small army with many never getting a look in. Nigel has brought us this far and with a style of football that many fans don't get chance to see. I am not ignoring the fact that the defenders we have are shipping goals left, right and centre and an unstable GK position. I totally acknowledge that if we carry on as we are we will be relegated but I think it will change. It is a sharp learning curve in the top league and unfortunately our defenders aren't learning fast enough. However, it will happen in time and changing manager won't make it happen any quicker. At times over the years I have found it quite embarrasing how Saints have chopped and changed managers and gone for cheap internal appointment or cheap foreign appointments. We have a good manager who is new to the Prem as are many of his players, how about we give him a chance to prove himself than sacking him and getting in some cliched top flight appointment like Redcrapp or Keane or Benitez. Give me Nige any day.
  22. Time for Punch to go off and Chappers to come on. He may not offer as much going forward but will provide more cover, plus JP has been poor on the attack.
