  1. I think this is great news for the club and can't really understand why any fans would be so negative about it. As with any football club, if the manager doesn't get results then they run the risk of getting the boot. However, the longer contract shows a committment to the fans, and more importantly the players. The playing squad clearly appreciate the way NA and AC respect them, train them and win with them. We have been craving stability for the past ten or fifteen years and finally we appear to have achieved it. Yet there are still doom merchants out there who refuse to get on the bus claiming it is gonna break down in a few miles. Just enjoy an exciting summer and stop looking for non-existant negatives.
  2. He has just come on for Bart.
  3. After watching Theo this afternoon I don't think AOC would have to worry about any competition as Theo was dreadful. It may just be my thinking but I find Theo quite a disappointment. He certainly hasn't progressed or improved to the same extent as Gareth Bale.

  8. Curtis Nelson from plymouth. Cheap, in the England u18's, highly thought of, similar to Jack Stephens.
  9. Think i would prefer Wolves to West Ham, purely because I don't think they'll go straight back up or certainly be as strong contenders. Agree with Blackpool and Wigan though.
  10. I do agree that permanent signings are best but a couple of cheeky loans (similar to Antonio or Papa) can only strengthen the squad. Unfortunately I am not able to comment on the youth players we have at the moment as I have not been able to see any play recently. If we have quality, pacey players in the ranks then give them a chance (as I am sure Adkins will) but if not Wenger may have one or two quality young'uns we could borrow.
  11. As Wenger knows we can develop a player maybe he would be willing to loan us a couple, especially if they take AOC! http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/players
  12. I think it totally depends on which teams go up and down. If like last season you are up against Newcastle and WBA it makes automatic much harder, unlike this year where Pompey, Hull and Burnley came down.
  13. 1/12/1984 (aged 7) away to Ipswich. My dad tried to get me the mascot job but it was not available so instead I got to meet the players before the match. Quite an unforgetable experience meeting Steve Moran, Mick Mills, Danny Wallace and a naked Peter Shilton (in the process of putting on his strides)! We won 1-0 with David Armstong scoring the winner. Been hooked ever since, despite it not always easy growing up a Saints fan in Cambridgeshire!

  15. I think that playoffs shouls be a reasonable target but it depends on who comes down from the Prem. Norwich have had it quite easy this year with Pompey, Burnley and Hull coming down (2 with massive financial issues). May be more difficult against West Ham, Birmingham, Blackburn or Wigan.
  16. I think it all depends on AOC. If he goes then I expect a number of new signings as we will have significant funds to blow. I would like Mackail-Smith as an option up front and probably another cb to team up with Fonte. Genuinely don't think we need that much really to be up and around the playoffs. I don't recall Norwich revamping their whole squad after promotion last year. After the run of results we have had I think we need to be more focussed on keeping this team together.
  17. Posted on the football-rumours.co.uk site. . . . Comical, and that's just the lack of punctuation! 02 May 2011 12:00:04 IN- southampton favrioute andrew surmam will jon saints for around 2.5 mil if norwich get promoted if not 1 mil and james beattie also comeing back and alex chamberlaine not going any where southampton player 4ever and i have no idea if this is true but apperentley david beckham is joining for 6 mil OUT- there have been rumors about connoly but wiv the way hes playing at the moment we will renew his contract puncheon is going and saints fans not tht botherd
  18. This club is back on track and after so many years of turmoil, we are back. Thank you so much.
  19. I am hoping that Huddersfield win the play offs, beating Posh in the final. They deserve to go up after their tremendous season.
  20. Get to work on the allotment.
  21. I feel that any pitch invasion should be avoided until the final game St Marys. When we win tomorrow, yes, we have earned promotion but at the same time condemned Plymouth to relegation. Without the good fortune of Markus saving our club, that could have so easily been us disappearing to league 2. Have a bit of class, sing and chant and cheer but stay off the pitch, and spare a thought for their fans, it could've been us!
  22. I think that this will all be over within twenty minutes of kick off tomorrow. As soon as we take the lead Plymouth will have to try and score two which simply won't happen! I think it will be a relatively straight forward 3-0 victory and promotion. Yes, my glass is positively full to the brim! I don't go with all this "saints always do it the hard way" rubbish. We are the second best team in the league (1st in form) and we are playing a poor team who have sold any player who was worth anything. Simples. Just chill out and enjoy the day.
