For me, he’s never been the same player since he had Covid.
-
Think we can all see why FDCC hasnt been picked too often. He’s an absolute liability. We have done nothing up front at all. No support from midfield but can’t blame them as when it is in the other 1/3rd we just gift them the ball back. It’s a gamble to leave yourself way out of position for the subsequent counter attack. Get Mara, Armstrong and Ely off. Bring in Tall Paul, Charlie and Sulimana.

No issues with that team. Diallo has had some good games and some stinkers but must be showing enough in training. Maybe the plan is to bring Lavia on to push things later in the game once they are a bit tired and maybe with yellows. As for Moi, he will do a job. He won’t skin a full back with pace or do ten step overs to bamboozle an opponent but he will work defensively, allowing our full backs to push on. Marsden was a great foil for allowing Bridgey to push on back in the day. Maybe this is something similar. 2-0 Saints win.

My Garmin watch was setting off alarms telling me that I had an unexplained high heart rate while watching that game!
-
Very happy with that point, certainly more than most had anticipated. I was waiting for the ref to try and even it up but I thought he had a very good game. Still not totally convinced about the ABK handball in the first half but not often you get away with things at Old Trafford. This team looks a million miles away from the crap that Jones had them playing. They are passing and moving, no hoofball. Only a few points from safety and I’m starting to believe.
-
Need to get some pressure on Martinez in the second half and exploit his yellow card. Use the half time to regroup and work out strategy for playing the ten. If you’d have offered 0-0 at halftime and then down to 10 we would have all jumped at it. Hope we stay positive and push on.

Been through the run in and got Bournemouth, Leeds and Everton going down, with Palace staying up on goal difference. Think I may have been slightly optimistic as we were safe with two games to go on 37points! 🤞
-
The only positive from this is that hopefully some of these players will never wear the shirt again. Lyanco is up there with one of the worst to have worn the shirt. Aside from Djeppo and KWP, utter shite all round. Get Lyanco, Mara, Armstrong and Aribo as far away from the first team squad as possible.
-
Even less convinced by him now. Liability.
-
Decent line up that should be strong enough to beat a league 2 side. I know some folk are convinced by DCC but for me the jury is still out. He’s just a bit grabby for my liking, and you can’t get away with defending like that with VAR nowadays. Would love to see Ballard come on for a bit.
-
Time to bring on KWP for AMN now that Gnonto has gone off. No need to be so defensive on that side.
-
Yes we’ve been poor but they’ve not really done anything with all the possession. Like us, they always have at least one disaster at the back each game. It’s not all doom and gloom.
-
Disappointing start from a few players but still in the game. Armstrong well off the pace and a liability at times. Just need get to half time level and regroup, go again.

Fabrizio Romano says: 🚨 Understand Southampton have decided to give Rubén Sellés the chance to be the manager until the end of the current season. He will be the head coach to replace Neil Jones. #SaintsFC Rubén Sellés has convinced the club with his ideas and work, he's set to stay. I would add screenshot but no idea how.

Love this chap so much. Just the complete opposite from the incompetent joker we’ve had to endure for a few months. He is classy, genuine and honest. Traits that don’t often appear that often in modern day football. I’m hoping he we will keep us up but regardless I want him here for the rebuild if needed. If he does keep us up then suits and turtle necks all round for the last game?
-
I’m happy with this appointment. He wants to play football and actually pass the ball around which after the last three months is a welcome change. The squad is stronger than with Ralph and hopefully he can organise them into a cohesive unit.
-
How can people be supporting Adkins, or Poch or Biesla. One is sentimental rubbish, one is out of our league and one was sacked by Leeds, which seemingly means he’s rubbish. Marsch played similar to Ralph so the majority of the players understand their job and positional roles. No need to reinvent the wheel. This style of play saw us up the top of the league and I would even dare say that we now have a quicker attacking threat.
-
I think Marsch could do a good job here. He took over a broken Leeds side and kept them up. This season they have had the same problems as us in not having a proven striker so have not converted decent opportunities. Hopefully we have addressed this now with the new signings and can actually start to score a few. I like the Marsch high tempo philosophy and think we have the players to suit it. I just don’t ever want to hear another Saints manger ever describe our play as “front footed and aggressive”.
-
Good riddance. I was more than happy to give him a go but after the Forest game it was clear he wasn’t up to the job. What I hated more was the bullshit and arrogance. Front footed and aggressive my arse.
-
So no Caletta Carr, ABK, Djenepo or Orsic tomorrow as they are all playing today in the B match against Sheffield Utd.
-
I can’t see how he will attract or tempt any player to join us. He has no real track record of developing kids and no experience at a high level. Admittedly, as Lampard and Gerard have shown, top level playing experience doesn’t always mean good management ability. I just feel that a footballer has maybe ten years of peak footballing time and would you want to waste two or three of them working for a manager and team that may well make you a worse player.
-
We are going be left in the championship with a load of second rate signings that we can’t ship out to anybody. A 750k full back from the footballing Mecca of Luton will not keep us up. Not convinced we will get to 30 points under Jones.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Scoobysaint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Utter shite. Could have easily been three down had they not missed their absolute sitters. I’m not convinced it’s the players, it’s simply the manager. The movement, passing and shape of Newcastle far eclipses what we offer. We’ve got a Yeovil player teaching Yeovil football. No hope till he goes. -
I just don’t understand the logic in appointing him. I was happy to give him a chance but he has shown that he has no tactical knowledge whatsoever. We are playing long balls to no target man or diagonal hopeful punts. The bloke is way out of his depth in the Prem and he knows it. At one one point in the second half the camera panned to him and Cohen I think. They both didn’t have a f**king clue. Total shambles. As for transfers, why would anybody want to come to Southampton under his management and “brand” of football.
-
Maybe we’ve been spoilt with the WC but this is shocking. The system is confused with nothing going through the middle, just out to the wings and then back inside for a long ball. It takes our players two touches to get the ball under control. As for AMN, I just don’t see what our staff see in him. The bloke is stealing a living.
