Tbf they have produced a number of players that have gone on to be successful in the English system. Not least our very own Lundekvam and Ostenstad, and Tore Andre Flo who we nearly got at the same time as the other two. True, but the league in general is of poor standard, hence why a) Norwegian teams rarely do anything in Europe, Rosenborg being the only exception and even they have never progressed beyond CL group stages, and b) most talented Norwegian footballers ply their trade outside of Norway......

He does look very tidy but it's worth bearing in mind that Norway's Tippeligaen isn't a particularly high standard...many of those players will be holding down regular jobs!!

Agree entirely, it's possibly one of the shrewdest moves we could've made.....proven PL standard player, cover in the position for at least a season while Targett develops but if it doesn't work out and we decide he's not one for the long term, he goes back.....the fact that we have £90mill in the bank doesn't mean we have to spend every last penny of it....

Have sat on this for a while and make of it what you will....my brother's mate knows Daniel Levy well and last season, Levy told him that it is common knowledge on the Premiership owner/director circuit that Southampton FC is up for sale. I didn't disclose it on here. However I also taught the son of a Premiership club chairman who I got to know fairly well and he confirmed the same thing to me yesterday. He (and his wife!) also said that Cortese was a rude and downright obnoxious host, not exactly news I guess but this is straight from a Premiership chairman, we are for sale.

I think it's more a case of nobody who we want to keep or who we see as part of our future is going to leave ie: Shaw, Lallana, Cork etc.....we did need to move some players on to free up space in the squad and bring the wage bill down, and out of those mentioned above, are there any whose departure really weakens the squad?? Thanks for what you've contributed to the club in getting us this far, now it's time to take the next step and hopefully they will all get opportunties to play regularly elsewhere.....
