On tues last week I realised that my passport expired in April Sorted it out online and the new one arrived this morning!! So, check your passports everyone as its taking as little as a week to sort out. I've been making tentative plans with mates this last week without actually telling them that I didn't have a valid passport!

True. East to get to for us fans, but a nightmare considering some of the other teams involved. Steaua Bucharest Mk 2. As for the map... - I've changed the colours of the potential opponents listed above to yellow to make it a bit easier to view. - Once we know who we have, I'll also mark that separately on the map in another colour. I'll also add anything else that seems appropriate (Hotels, Pubs, Transport etc) as more info is added to this thread.

I was thinking something along those lines, nice easy CHEAP trip to start off with. Could do without having to fly to an expensive city as our first trip (of hopefully many) Although these earlier rounds present a chance to go to a place I've never been to, or will again, Charleroi or Vitesse would be my idea options.

Obviously, this could be a bit short lived, especially now that I have started this thread....anyway. I'm a bit of a nerd at times, and have a particular interest in maps / geography etc; so, over the last week or so, I have mapped all of the grounds of the teams taking part in this season's Europa League (I know, its sad!) If you click on the link below, you should be able to see the locations in Google Maps. Some of the locations may be incorrect, if a team has built a new ground recently, or they play in a different stadium for Euro games for example. I am prepared to be MLG'd on this and will try and correct any mistakes. As I was doing it, I did think that (once we know who we are playing) it may be useful in planning travel, or even finding where hotels / pubs are in relation to the ground etc. Like I say, it may of use to some.... Some "interesting" observations: - Sturm Graz have a Hooters attached to the stadium! - FC Batumi's ground is about 100 meters from the black sea, bring your Speedo's. - FC Kairat is only about 270 kms from China, and is further away than most of Iran and Afghanistan! https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z-oVzRKP0zxY.kq10sHl2JPmk&usp=sharing I'll try and keep it updated as the tournament progresses and may include extra data like hotels, pubs etc once we have more details. I guess this thread could be where we share any travel info we may find, like hotel deals, flights, trains, boats etc.

They get picked up by the navy one of the other EU countries that has assets out in the Med? Also, we have an obligation to the European and Global shipping industry... "On 31 March 2015, the representatives of the main European and global shipping industry associations and seafarers’ unions described the current situation as “untenable” and called on states to increase resources and support for search and rescue operations. In a joint statement they said “…it is unacceptable that the international community is increasingly relying on merchant ships and seafarers to undertake more and more large-scale rescues.” On 8 February 2015 following a distress call, Italian coast guards braved high seas and freezing temperatures to rescue 105 people from an overcrowded dinghy. Their boat was part of a group of four that had set off from Libya the day before and got into trouble. A total of more than 330 refugees and migrants died on that day. Apart from two commercial vessels in the area, only the Italian coast guard was available to provide assistance." https://www.amnesty.org/en/articles/news/2015/04/amnesty-international-s-blueprint-for-action-to-end-refugee-and-migrant-deaths-in-the-med/

Yeah, agree that this cant continue. The best way to deal with it (and also the hardest) is to improve the conditions in their own country, so that they never want to leave in the first place. F&ck knows how that is accomplished though, a lot of time and money needed. Just imagine if all the money The West has spent on "war" since WW2 had been diverted to the developing countries, we may not find ourselves in this situation.....but on the other hand, imagine the effect on global warming / the environment etc if the whole of the developing world had 2/3 cars per family, 4+ TV's, used petrol the same rate we do, drink cans of coke etc etc etc.....it would not be sustainable. I have a feeling I'm going to have to renew my £5 membership soon.

To be fair, better that than thousands of them dying at sea, to get away from a situation we (The West) largely created. Tin hat ready.

That's the trouble with society these days, no one is prepared to put the effort in themselves, just want everything handed to them on a plate.

I assume the dates for the friendly with Feyenoord would change depending on Euro qualification. If we finish 7th and have to go in at the 3rd qualifying phase, the two legs are the 30th July and 6th August. EDIT: Actually, playing Feyenoord 6 days before a qualifier is probably a great way to get prepared. I assume then, that the tournament in Salzburg would be disrupted.

To be fair, I doubt that the hotel in question has had an array of Matt Le Tissier shirts handed in.

I recall this story every year on this thread, so might as well say it again.... I was born 2 weeks after the cup final in '76, so my Mum was obviously heavily pregnant (it was also her birthday) at the time and didn't go. However, My Dad did go and got so caught up in the celebrations that he went missing for 3 days afterwards. He has absolutely no recollection of what happened to him or how he got back to Southampton, he has a vague feeling that he was at the guildhall square...but that's it. He finally returned home in the afternoon of the 4th May...."In a bit of a state" according to Mum. Legend.
