  1. Word. I need to go back, or at the very least start going out with a really attractive blonde girl and find out where to buy some of them stockings...tbh the former option's the more likely Also Dog, get yourself to the Allianz Arena, I'm not much of a one for big flashy stadiums but that one's amazing. Go to an 1860 Munich game though, not those red bastards.
  2. Sounds f*cking brilliant. Munich's good any time of year though - I went in February last year and think I may actually have enjoyed it more than I would Oktoberfest (not that I wouldn't like to go, but when I went it felt more like the "real" Munich rather than the tourist version - in a lot of places they spoke no English at all, that kind of thing). Also the women are gorgeous, ridiculously fit girls go on nights out dressed in those white Strumpfe (those birds in the picture couldn't hold a candle to most of them). One group came over and started chatting me and my mates up (God knows why, as three days of drinking had made us look and smell like old winos) whilst we were waiting for the U-Bahn. It didn't go anywhere because we had to get a different train, though I had to be dissuaded from staying on the platform and pretending we were going wherever they were, lol.
  3. UAE professor on THOSE emails: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article6948008.ece Yep.
  4. Really good. Joaquin Phoenix puts in a quality performance.
  5. Yeah, all the Kurdish boys in the McDonald's I worked in switched all the time. I can't say it bothered me particularly though, because they were friendly and it doesn't sound like these blokes are. Just keep your head down and look at the clock as little as you possibly can...
  6. "The Eagle's Shadow: Why America fascinates and infuriates the world", by Mark Hertsgaard. Pretty good. Now starting "The intellectual life of the British working class" by John Robinson. Because my local library's got a very good reference section I always end up reading academic stuff - need more novels to balance things out
  7. The media coverage was all very leering and prurient, but that's the media for you. I don't remember anything anti-American about it.

    Rain

It's not too pleasant, but on the other hand I've managed to have some excellent daytime sleeps this week because it's so dark and cool. So every cloud, and all that (literally, in this case).
  11. Ironically, something which started as a lament about how awesome things used to be has turned into a pretty sweet thread in its own right. It's like every single post-match thread, but with some semblance of humour. I love you f*cking loons
  12. Away to somewhere I haven't been before. York would be nice, good old-fashioned ground and a lovely city.
  13. Just occurred to me how odd it is that us nanny-state loving quasi-communists are keener on individual liberty than all the freedom-loving capitalists. Hmm.
  14. I reckon at least 95% of Solent listeners say that whenever he starts speaking, I know we do
  15. Never had an infraction, what with not being a knob and all (not on the internet, anyway)
  16. I learnt at my first couple of beer festys that such uber-strong novelty beers always taste terrible. You're all like, "Yeah, I've got me a half of this 13% beer innit", and then it's a bit embarrassing when it's too disgusting for you to even get through it Still, if it gets a little independent brewer some publicity that's all to the good.
  17. Fair enough. I don't think you can compare a wartime leader to an ordinary peacetime Prime Minister though. Clement Attlee for me.
  18. A very good war leader to whom we all owe a great deal (though not as great as the popular myth makes out) but a failure in peacetime both before and after the war. And, frankly, a bit of a *****.
  19. That's the sharpest bit of political satire I've seen since someone figured out that "Brown" rhymes with "Clown". Excellent, excellent. Right, I'm off for a mini-break in the glamorous north-east. Will give the lads an extra cheer on behalf of all you fags who ain't going
  20. We're alright. Not bad, not good. It's worth remembering that the (10-15K) home fans at the Britannia stadium gave it no more than a couple of half-hearted "Delilahs" when we played there the first season we came down, despite their large contingent of propa ******* footeh lads...
  21. Maggie is a commie, Maggie is a commie, lala la la, lala la la...
  22. If you're a CAMRA member you get vouchers for cheap real ale and all. Can't fault them for that!
  23. The one that had some good debate for five pages, went round and round in circles for ten, and was eventually locked for being boring? With the original link still intact for anyone who wanted to look it up? Oh yes, quite the act of Stalinist repression there. Give us another one.
  24. *violins* Any examples of where freedom of speech have been denied on this board to people on the right?
  25. That chart was interesting but only in seeing where posters are in relation to each other; as it's an American thing, you're considered pretty much a full-blown communist if you think a raped woman might have a right to an abortion, or multinational executives shouldn't be able to eat Third World children with a nice Cabernet, etc. For Europe it's not much use, thank God.
