  1. Hope we are also keeping tabs on Futacs
  2. Brentford, milwall, Brighton, Bristol city (twice), charlton! Huddersfield, Norwich - all in the last five years. Not bad record really

I actually totally agree with you! I was just being diplomatic in my response since there is a strong lobby that think it was an easy chance. I think if he had managed to beat the keeper it would have gone down as a memorable strike and we would have been buzzing about it all week.

Although some would say that he did at least hit the target but on another day might / should have placed it past the keeper. I don't think lee is keeping him out though. NA has said on more than one or two occasions he is carrying a couple of niggles and needs more fitness work first.
  5. Perhaps he'll be kind enough to wear a red n white shirt on his twitter profile now. Sounds like a decent appointment though.
  6. And adam
  7. Right now it's about winning games and if the pitch does not lend itself to passing football then you have to by pass the midfield. The latter would have seen some nasty injuries - and probably a defeat!

I think there is a very clear strategy here and that is that the club will not undersell to corporates. Hence the shirt sponsor deal was cancelled for a while because people were paying under the odds. If you discount and make deals there will always be those who hang back waiting for a deal whereas if you always sell at full price and only full price everyone knows where they stand. I think the club are quite happy to wait until next season when - hopefully after promotion - they will happily pay the going rate for advertising and boxes.

You have to wonder whether it is just coincidence that saints have done pretty well since Markus put Cortese in charge and how people who fail to add value to the club move on after a short while. Personally I think it would be far better to have a CX who is a jolly nice bloke who lets the senior managers do what they jolly well like.
  10. Yes pretty obvious but AT THE TIME, it was a huge risk. That was the point.
  11. If history has taught us anything it is that we can lose 3-1 at Watford only to go on and beat Middlesborougho n their own ground 4-0. This is Saints remember. some things never change!
  12. Opt for regular football for one seaon in Championship and review after that. It was a big ask to go from Div 1 to Premiership and expect to play regular football.
  13. Really? According to the league table we are 4 better than Birmingham and 7 better than WHU. considering we won 4-0 in our fixture and they all won 3-1 that was what I expected! At least no one can say we are in a 'weak league' this year which is what so often happens when we are at the top or thereabouts.
  14. Do you not think there would have been a thread on any planning application that may have been submitted?
  15. In other words you don't really know. I am not a big fan of his either but I don't believe he ever misused his position. In fact I was surprised how his 'alleged' sense of humour has recently been at Pompeys expense. Innocent until proved guilty.
  16. It will be raised to 70 as the retirement age goes up.
  17. Nah, he was just kiddin'..... .....wasn't he?
  18. I thought that but then I have to say he would probably not walk straight back into the side. His problem is basically that he is still exactly the same player that left us. Arsenal have not developed him at all. He constantly makes the wrong choices (shoot or pass), plays with his head down and fails to read the game. His blistering pace is something most clubs would welcome though!
  19. Any reason why Jack Stevens could not fill in at right back?
  20. Genuine question. Did he actually miss a sitter or did the goalkeeper save it. Getting it on target as opposed to missing the goal altogether is not quite so bad.
  21. It is pretty much - though the American college team allegedly started it (c 1920's) and then tried to sue the Seattle Seahawks when they adopted it about 20 years ago. Can't really see how anyone can argue against any initiative that inspires / pumps up the fans ahead of a big game.
  22. I think this is the key. Although he starts on the wing (a role he does not like) he is given a free role which is why you see him working all over the pitch. This the role he revels in likes. When absent from thee wing Richardson moves up and covers him well. Meanwhile the opposition simply don't know how to mark him. Defensively he was good yesterday too. Never though he would progress beyond league one football and pleased to be proved wrong
  23. Motm in 2 of 3 games is pretty rubbish really.
  24. Crikey - Lambert and Sharp -v- Rodriguez and Austin. Mouthwatering contest. 0-0 it is then Actually I think we will bounce back on this one. My concern is more about being able to string a run together again. One game at a time I guess, eh Nigel?
  25. Like Venables before him he has got very rich at the expense of others. He has managed WHU, Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Saints - all of whom have had major financial difficulties to manage after he left. Now we're all going to pay - one way or another - for his failure to pay income tax. This is one of those areas that you simply cannot trust a jury to reach the right conclusion because hardly anyone wants the tax man to actually win do they. That aside I think Harry is a top bloke. A real character that adds colour and vibrancy to the world of football and yes he has done a good job at Spuds. And he's right - a lot of the taxation stuff he pays other people to look after so he probably only had a limited knowledge of what was going on.
