  1. Lambert injured? We have Guly, Barnard, Connolly, De Ridder and even Lallana who can play up front. Not a problem. As for WestHam. Great team who deserve a better manager than Sam. They have a tradition of playing football the right way but nobody mentioned that to Sam. Disappointing season predicted. As for taunts to Saints fans - we occassionaly get referred to as the tractor boys (rather than Ipswich). Personally i blame Mike Channon for getting us that tag ;~)
  2. You do know there's another train at 10:30pm? I honestly can't see why anyone would leave personally but each to their own I guess. Funny thing though, I am remember in an earlier thread on this (we do seem to revisit the subject regularly!) someone drawing the analogy that you would never leave the theatre before the end. Blow me, I was down the Mayflower a few months back and an elderly couple did just that - half way through the final scene, literally about two minutes before the last line!!
  3. I have to say, reading the whole of this thread, Saints fans don't come out of it looking too good. There seems to be a basic lack of understaning between banter and homophobic comments combined with an in built prejudice against anyone employed to enforce decent standards of behaviour. Maybe we've not moved away from the 60's as much as I previously thought. Bit depressing really!
  4. Try reading the twitter quote again. NOWHERE does he say it is a bit off putting. It really annoys me when people can't even read to get a story right. The actual quote is "Morning! To be fair, I do like my chant, BUT it is a bit much everytime I touch the ball though..." And he's right! Trouble is he is a quality player you do feel he is going to do something special every time he touches the ball
  5. No - we need the pay on the day as much as the season tickets. Otherwise, the people who can never get in will simply follow another club. Better to have 12k season tickets and 40k going less regularly than the same 28k every week.
  6. Feet were outside the box but will need to look at it closer on the TV to comment. Actually, it WAS a penalty because the ref said so - the same as he said the blatent tackles earlier (and later) were not penalties.
  7. I'm quite happy to attend one of these dinners if required. Nic - please PM...
  8. Ah yes, Ripley. The latter day Puncheon. A great player who never (rarely) performed largely because we never made him feel at all welcome at saints. I seem to remember a story about his wife going up to the David Lloyd Centre at the Rose Bowl and being badly treated simply because she was his wife. but I digress...
  9. Yes but I think to understand his ability you need to look at his form up until the time the charges came out. Still can't beleive the CPS were taken in by that low life. Back to the OP, yes, I think it was a good appointment and yes he probably would have kept us in the Premiership.
  10. Sordell, Jos, Clyne and Oyenuga will do nicely for now. Probably only two of those will happen with another name not yet on any fans radar....
  11. you'll probably have to explain to me how an apporach for a player who is being offloaded by his club but is yet to sign a contract with anyone is illegal. I think Alan is doing exactly what he wanted Walcott's dad and Oxo's to do. Shut up and let his son (a grown adult) make his own mind up. Top man!
  12. The bronze hospitality is £40 which is a pretty good deal including access to the cash bar. If I were looking for a ticket i would probably go for that sooner than being stuck in one of the corners. So although you are probably right (not sold out) I think we will see a lot of those seats taken one way or another.
  13. or just make stuff up to sound sensational.
  14. I thought we had moved on from comparing managers. These days, signings are not down to the manager but down to the collective assessment of a number of people within the club. Sometimes the manager gets a player he has been tracking for a while. Other times he just accepts what other tell him. Either way, his role os to coach the beat out of them. I think NA's role this transfer window is simply to identify the areas that need strengthening.
  15. What do you mean Brighton won't let it go? The only reason that thread became live again is becasue a Saints fan commented on it. Makes us look a bit petty and silly rather than the Brighton fans!!
  16. I might be wrong but I did not think that the OP was suggesting priority for existing season ticket holders. I think the suggestion is that we have a separate season ticket scheme for those that regularly attend away games. Makes sense to me but like home games there should be a proportion available for general sale.
  17. Personally I think it is a bit irrelevant whether we had first year or second year academies payers playing. We lost and probably should not have. Pompey wanted it more according to Dodd and there is a great picture on the OS of Dodd laying into the team after the match. This is a key part of their development if they want to play for the first team. They have to understand how important these games are and how it is equally important to have the right mentality to cope with the intense physical and phycological that these games produce. I hope they are hurting a bit today but then move on and recover the form we know they are capable of. After all - they'e seen off both Man Utd and Chelsea academies this season.
  18. Hardly comparable. I don't recall either the club or NA feeling it necessary to 'defend' the appointment even though there may have been one or two sceptics on here. We already had a top notch infrastucture in place and the 5 year plan for NC / NA is to take it on to the next level. Wasn't NA's appointment the result of the club researching suitable candidates rather than inviting applications? Recruitment process to me was light years apart. P*mpey are starting from ground zero. Their five year plan involves setting up a recruitment policy; ours is to use an established global scouting network and become a force to reckoned with in the Premiership - challenging for Europe. It's like comparing Marks and Spencer with a duty free shop.
  19. It does make me laugh that we have condemned the bloke for doing something that we're not sure about, to offend someone in the club that we can't quite name and for wanting to make a fresh start elsewhere as a result. The only thing we do know for sure is that he trained and played with the youth team before going off to QPR and his attitude during that time was spot on. Since leaving he has not bad mouthed the club in any way - quite the opposite in fact. Fortunately, I trust the club to be bigger than people on this forum and to do the right thing for him if/ when he returns. If he wants to play for us I am sure he will get a chance. If he does not, he wil leave in the summer. There's no point in trying to recover what we paid for him. It just aint gonna happen.
  20. Yes I think Doble is still at Bournemouth but not featuring. Sky sport also reported the other week that Jack Dovey was on loan to Eastleigh. Forte looks like it might not be made permanent as OS are saying he is not eligible for cup games. I don't think there is any reason to make Hoskins permanent as he has been doing quite well for us.
  21. Thought I heard Manchester Utd signing it at the weekend. Definately one of the Premier matches on MOTD saturday.
  22. Yeah - every game is tough and the international break does not do us any favours! I'm worried about Brighton and Portsmouth games but I hope my fears are unfounded. Did anyone see the Boro game yesterday? Can't believe how empty the stadium was - and they were bragging about their away attendance the other week!! Sell out for Brighton for sure.
  23. Why stop at criticising Coventry for not having a minutes silence. Neither team had poppies on their shirts either. Valid criticism but not a huge issue. Most of us commemorate Remembrance Sunday in our own way. I personally think it is better to focus on how we commemorate it ourselves rather than worry about what other people are doing or not doing.
  24. All this talk about Fergie and his 25 years at Moan Utd and they call it the most important decision hey ever made appointing him. I just get the feeling the appointment of NA will be talked about in the same way in years to come. Full credit to the team but he has undoubtedly had a huge influence.
  25. How true. Nostalgia just aint what it used to be.
