  1. He certainly did, although his public image was rather punctured by two relegations, the Woodward/Clifford sagas and December 2008’s AGM culminating in his being coined by Richard Chorley. The spending of 2006/7 further accelerated the club towards the abyss but fact was we were heading there under Lowe at a good speed already. The idea that he could manage a nation’s economy well is hilarious.
  2. It wont be £ for £ as some needs to be held back in case we don’t make it back up in 2 years/huge investment in a whole squad if promoted. It’s better than 2023 as there isn’t the damage from a January splurge, SAA brought in a bit and if Sheff Utd get autos that’s probably £10m in the bank from BBD so a small profit there. Dibling, Fernandes and THB should get buyers by pre-season starting, Ramsdale might take longer. So we should have a very good Champ promotion squad budget overall but the amount of transactions is daunting plus a new manager. Hope Spors doesn’t have a holiday planned.
  3. A lot of the refs not from major conurbations I always suspect are closet Liverpool and Man U plastics.
  4. Operative word being ‘handy’
  5. Sadly I agree. Lloyd wasn’t especially quick either, whereas Yuki has a turn of pace so Jon Otsemobor is probably the comparator I’d make. Both quite lively getting forward, Yuki can also put in a lovely cross but defensively you draw the curtains as disaster looms.
  6. A spot in the Japanese volleyball team for 2028 awaits.
  7. Led a regional movement which helped bring in tens of millions to one of the most deprived parts of the country. Didn’t take a penny out of it, not expenses even. Did it on top of a full time head of department job as well. Plenty of able people on here so I expect there’s others. And no large estate in Withington to fall back on.
  8. Something about North London Yobbos
  9. Lee Todd was a left back. Jones paid £850k for him, sold to Bradford 12 months on for £250k and only played 15 games there, after 10 for Saints. Legend at Stockport but although Dave Jones was tidy in the transfer market, not one of his better deals. Topical to today, he did play the full 90 in our 3-2 win at Anfield (David James decapitating Matt Oakley near enough for a penalty).
  10. He’s giving Steve Baker a run for his money in our worst ever top flight XI and might well have succeeded in dislodging him. Only thing he’ll succeed in all season.
  11. Orange now threatens Russia with pointless, empty tariffs after Putin took his flattery for weakness and threw his remaining kitchen sinks at Ukraine yesterday as a result https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c36wkpy3497o
  12. South Park was 26 years ahead of the MAGA curve, who knew Donnie was a South Parker?

  14. I bet Saggy Chops is laughing his head off in Sandbanks. Possibly Mr and Mrs D Jones as well. Lawrie was never a fan either going by his book.
  15. Elon’s fucked Reform properly there and put the skids under Farage. Lowe got taken in by it and picked a fight with Farage, who has responded as someone owning a fiefdom does. Still not learned after his spell as Saints Chair has Rupert. Likes of the Telegraph and Mail will lap this up https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c80yd11nm73o
  16. He thought Rupert should be Reform UK leader and a future Prime Minister.
  17. With their Victoria St HQ, plenty of bridges nearby too
  18. Stranger things have happened on this site over the years.
  19. I’m guessing at 3
  20. Could be heading this way in a few years
  21. As someone has else posted, fees are relevant to the period in question. £1.2m for Fonte huge for a League One club 15 years ago, £12m for VVD in 2015 was market rate from Celtic. Bednarek for £6m from Poland was a Championship top 10 fee by then, Hoedt and Vestergaard at £17m a pop bottom 6 PL by 2017/18 when the TV payments jumped and so did the transfer market 2016-19. The odd bargain with the right development attributes - Fernandes for us, Semenyo at Bournemouth - great - clubs like us and Brighton can’t afford market rate across the whole XI. But you’ve got to push as hard as can to get close.
  22. Prime example being this brainless female presenter on Fox later in this short clip. The male interviewer got it, penny dropped about how stupid Trump’s been. European don’t buy Dodge Rams because they are gas guzzling, unreliable, their transmissions seem to pack up within 40000 miles when Honda and BMW ones are just worn in. And try driving something that size around narrow Cotswold streets. https://www.ramforumz.com/threads/near-new-ram-dreaded-transmission-problem.290013/
  23. Just to get you up to date https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvg19gx7vl4o
  24. Estimated $1500 extra per household pa in everyday costs for essentials such as furniture, sugar, cars, and petrol. And because they will go in 4 years so as he says, there is no incentive to shift supply chains so firms who don’t go bust (the smallest) will just hold off investment. In other words, it’ll hit MAGA’s lowest and medium incomes hard, not MAGA billionaires. Empathy with those who didn’t vote for them. ‘Tariffs are a national sales tax’ - laptops up 10% for example. Estimating $1800 per household extra cost of living. The really dangerous chart for us all is that bar chart showing that floating voters, Democrats and even some GOP voters are saving money in January at record levels and not spending.
