  1. Sorry for your loss Lard and sounds like a great father to me.
  2. Great to hear, needed to happen last season but the fans have eventually caught up with what is being done to their club. Our away following has always had far more fibre than the home.
  3. Just got back from being out and about including food shopping - sounds like first half was a decent display but the usual second half implosion has happened?
  4. People knock Robbie Savage and he was a dick as a player but built a good side which they’ve improved on with John Rooney and doing a good job at Forest Green. John Rooney is a far better manager than his brother going by what I’ve seen today!
  5. Simple pleasures - go to local pubs every other week as love cask ale but only for a pint or two. Missus loves eating out as a treat but we keep it to a monthly treat. Beer festivals I attend and sometimes work at. Walking is free in the Cotswold Hills, Severn Estuary, Forest of Dean, Shropshire Hills, Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons bar the petrol to get there. TV - Now TV for the darts, cricket (summer), rugby and football. Will watch the odd Gloucester Rugby or Worcestershire CCC game in person. Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Much cheaper than the cinema. Phone is iPhone 7 - it works. Clothes - I buy too many but mainly Scott & Lyle, Crew, Lacoste (when on offer), Joe Browns and work shirts from Brooke Taverner. Also Jenson Samuel if we get to go to Yorkshire. Renovating a house in the Cotswolds eats a lot of money but key to pension pot.
  6. TBF, watching Bazunu, THB, Wood, Stephens and Manning passing to each other 50 million times as is as horrific as anything Alfred Hitchcock could’ve devised.
  7. Great to see rare cross-party consensus on eliminating the vile paedophilia imported from America https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c99kn52nx9do
  8. It’s a political assassination - let’s call it out for what it is. Any liberal, you don’t even need to be an active Democrat, could be next.
  9. If both of their keepers break their legs on an icy pitch, I’d offer him a free transfer in time for the game down there to rejoin his spiritual home.
  10. Which would be wonderful - question is who would be a buyer? Perhaps as a PL 3rd/4th choice and u23 filler if a big club genuinely thinks they can coach him in the basics. They can’t make him 3 inches taller though nor a natural goalkeeper aka Peter Shilton who wasn’t a giant either.
  11. All true but neither does it extinguish S-Clarke’s point that summer 2024 was an appalling transfer window for a newly promoted club.
  12. See 08.36 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c70le643x50t
  13. Level of social intolerance from Trump, Vance, Orban, Farage, and Putin is just disgusting. Infecting the whole planet and there’s more cunts like their protege in Argentina in the pipeline.
  14. I’d rather retain Quarshie at this stage. Raw but has some of the attributes for a top flight CB.
  15. To clarify, I’m not saying he didn’t perform well for us last season, but the standard was so low at SFC last season that he was our shining light and and something to take a positive from. This season for West Ham he’s been mediocre at best - if generous - and it highlights that you need a superb summer window of new players just to compete stay up as a promoted club and/or one circling the drain as they and Wolves did. Sunderland have done it tbf and Leeds might stay up too unless Nuno suddenly gets the Hammers going. My point was wondering whether we might have over-rated him very slightly (only very slightly as I think there’s a player there) because we were so rotten everywhere else.
  16. Heavy snow 30-45 minutes north of here and transport all out but something of nothing in Gloucestershire so far and it can really snow here when it does. Heavy sleet 5-8pm but ground was too wet after torrential rail to really lay.
  17. Quite, loads to criticise SR for and it was a weird pair of signings with him and Wood preparing for the PL as a promoted side, but to move on for a small profit to a club who wants the player and he wants the move is very logical. Clusterfuck summer 2024 - even Fernandes had been pretty underwhelming for West Ham since leaving us and was our best player along with Ramsdale last season. Forgot he was playing Tuesday until he was subbed. Fraser, a finished Lallana, Edwards, Wood, Downes - scorchio!
  18. He watched Stephens v Chelsea and got inspired.
  19. Mahmood has been studying it closely to be objective and already the visa ban on DRC with more to come.
  20. Let’s test this statement objectively: - Nathan Wood, told fans near the tunnel to f- off after getting stick - Jack Stephens - whole entire 20-30 pages of disgust (rightly) on that moronic contract extension. Also jeered when brought on as a sub at Blackburn. - THB has had loads - Manning loads of justified stick for being lazy, no effort to stop crosses and away end gave him hell for not playing to the whistle and unprofessional at Derby. Bazunu is on probably high end Champ wages but wouldn’t get a game at Cheltenham Town my local L2 club. Bottom of every statistics and performance table every season he’s played for us and a disaster loan at Standard Liege. Stealing a living. Dexter Blackstock looked more convincing as an emergency goalie at Newcastle in the FA Cup.
  21. It’s revolting rhetoric but you expect that from gutter scum like Fox and the Daily Mail has become vile under Ted Verity. About time the Beaverbrooks grew a backbone and stopped that paper sliding under its 1930s seedy past. But it’s quite another from the POTS and VP POTS. World is fucked.
  22. Harry Brook fought with a bouncer shitfaced yet still captained England in a losing ODI in NZ the next day. £30k fine and final warning but allowed to be vice-skipper in the Ashes and bat like a billionaire. What a prick and what a empire of paper cups Brendon has built.
  23. Beer Engine in Newton St Cyres just north of Exeter so bit more of a trip (has railway station on the Barnstaple to Exeter line) brews its own stuff. Had my 40th party there complete with a Saints birthday cake. Nice walks around the pub as well. To the East of you nearer the M5 the Culm Valley Inn was always a good place. Haven’t been to this one for circa 14-15 years but it was always well regarded https://www.facebook.com/KingsNympton/?locale=en_GB
  24. New houses in most parts of Devon and Cornwall, that part of Dartmoor especially, tend to have radon extractor fans fitted underneath the houses to extract any gas from under the floors and out via a pipe. Many older houses have one retro-fitted. If anyone is ever considering buying down that way, NERC and the BGS can run a survey mapping your area for radon concentrations for only a few quid. That way, you can ask the vendor to confirm they have radon extraction.
  25. Proportions on that map are slightly odd, but I’m going to guess that the nearest small town is South Molton (nice by day and not so by night) and you’re circa 15-20 miles from Crediton. More towards Okehampton but the Uncle Tom Cobleigh is a must-visit in Spreyton for real ale. On Dartmoor, the Rugglestone Inn at Widecombe was a regular of ours and one of my favourite pubs in England.
