  1. He’s only been there a season and I mean no disrespect to them, but it’s also Brentford… Mind you, they will actually invest in players, but then you can with the Man U money burning a hole in their pocket. Wissa was having a meltdown last I saw about Newcastle’s £25m turned down. Big test for a very green manager.
  2. Incorrect https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/farage-reform-zia-yusuf-party-b2765699.html I accept your apology for being a prick. Zia Yusuf isn’t perfect himself either https://nation.cymru/news/robert-jenrick-accuses-zia-yusuf-in-antisemitic-tweet-row/
  3. Depends what the clubs aim is. If it’s stability finishing 8th-14th on the fringes of the play-offs, if Gavin has improved, then yes, he probably is. But to go from the worst keeper at this level to being good enough for top 2, at worst top 6, that would be a huge risk for the club to take. They are daft enough to take it going on SR’s track record.
  4. That is one of most shocking business decisions, let alone a football one, I’ve ever seen. Dragan really should have sacked both the member of staff who pushed for it and the one who signed it off without proper or any due diligence. In total with the promotion clause it cost £10m plus whatever the wages and bonuses have been. Who lets their employees throw away £15m+ wantonly like that? They were incredibly lucky Che’s move to Wolves didn’t get over the line.
  5. That’s more like it, the summer injury on his ankle is an irritating factor for buying clubs as he’d be playing catch up at PL level and he didn’t have a very good campaign last year in spite of what his potential might be thought to be. So if their first choice centre half does their ACL opening day of the season, THB isn’t going to be able to step in and hit the ground running as an immediate replacement. Throw in that we already paid £20m and City have sell on, length of contract, so right now, buying clubs don’t think he’s worth north of £30m. And they are probably right.
  6. They’ll look at how it’s healed but yes, essentially medical have proportional risk built into them. Hence Ross Stewart and Sofaine Boufal were signed but in both cases their time at Saints never really got going because they’d effectively missed pre-seasons so that risk element comes in again. You’d have to look at their overall fitness pattern over a few years to work out what is one-off injury and what is a body not able to cope with the demands of the Premier League.

  8. I agree but without that ton England would be nowhere near.
  9. It would seem so https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/25360763.middlesbrough-midfielder-hayden-hackney-turns-move-ipswich/
  10. If he stops breaking fingers on the eve of Tests. In fact, he was the original choice for the NZ at #3.
  11. Lots of broken TV sets when an ethnic minority face comes on screen.
  12. Bethell should have been playing more red ball for Warwickshire. Hardly a surprise he’s come in cold and struggled for all of his ability.
  13. Time for Smith and Overton to be heroes. Siraj doing loads with the ball, incredible given the overs he has bowled.
  14. Hmmmmm, anyone see what the problem could be there?
  15. Maddison’s likely ACL may put them back in the race for Fernandes/Dibling. Fernandes a bit expensive for them with the clubs involved and Everton’s keenness will push Levy up on his normally absurdly low bids on Dibling.
  16. 🎵 Fuck is the worst word that you can say….
  17. Having read the comments in full, they are worse than I’d thought. Opening league game as well! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c6276r0v470o
  18. Loved the England fan in the long-sleeve blue shirt near the boundary rubbing it in right in Siraj’s eyeline.
  19. Should win from here now I’d have thought?
  20. Hard to say until early September and what incomings/loans there are. Key is not to fall too far behind so it rules automatic promotion by October.
  21. Got an Everton signing written all over it. West Ham have been sniffing but if he has school-age kids, might not need to uproot them.
  22. Saw a few on the 2004 Test tour, and you normally spotted them by how sunburnt they were. Was having a few Banks’s the day before is started with the groundsman and locals, an American got out of the sea and was the colour of a lobster. The locals were horrified, as was I, shuddered thinking about the sore skin, and a local older guy walked past and remarked ‘he may not know it now but in 10 years, he will know about it’.
  23. Absolutely this. If Baz does enjoy an upswing then it’ll keep him on his toes.
  24. Fair play to you, we don’t 100% agree on this point but you’re a good poster and I know you’d be honest and objective.
