Dense is being kind, thick as pig’s shit is more apt. Just like the EDI Managers they pledged to abolish who don’t exist either on the councils they’ve won https://road.cc/content/news/reform-uk-pledge-scrap-ltns-where-none-exist-314093 and https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/lifestyle/reform-councils-promise-scrap-scheme-that-doesnt-exist-in-any-authorities-they-control-393450/ They can’t get their ends away either (given it’s a mainly male party) - Greens and Lib Dem’s getting the most https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/lifestyle/supporting-reform-is-huge-dating-ick-393254/

In the case of Wrexham who will need most of a new squad, BBD would be considered quite a capture. Saints didn’t use him very effectively either but his form, after a bright return, for Sheff Utd was a real concern.
-
If and when he finally scores for Saints (I think he’ll be gone over the summer to Wrexham or Brum) we can sing 🎵 We Forgot, We Forgot, We Forgot that you were here 🎵

Incredible level of failure and ineptitude. Onachu will go I think but Dragan will take a substantial bath on the fee. Sulemana ditto I’d have thought. BBD was a low fee so they might be able to shift him to an ambitious club coming up like Wrexham who can pay the wages on a nominal fee and the Hollywood connection might appeal to players with Champ track record. RS with us for the final year as no takers with his fitness record and AA is the one I’d actively keep, along with Archer. That would generate headroom for a hold-up/target striker which we need alongside forwards like Archer and AA. RS is the rotation/David Connolly cameo option for the new target striker. Any fee losses pale by comparison to writing off the bulk of final year/two years of Bazanu and Larios’s wages on lower league loans but that’s Dragan’s learning for Rasmus and Kraft pulling his trousers down.
-
What’s the worst that could happen?
-
Yep, since Che we’ve had no focal point to play off and hold up. Bar Stewart, with a cameo role.
-
That would not be good. I know Watford are a nutcase club, but that’d be a big drop off from Still, Rohl, Cooper etc. I thought Still was more or less over the line?

At least you have @trousers for company

Reform keeping some very dubious company in Scotland https://www.thenational.scot/news/25178934.racist-banners-unveiled-support-reform-holyrood-by-election/ Mark Collett was one of Nick Griffin’s deputies in the BNP. Very weak ‘they’re nothing to do with us’ response, not exactly the BNP-zapping Farage claims. PA have rubbed off on Reform it seems https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yg0g18989o

He will need to get a record points total if he does as it looks as if they can’t escape a substantial deduction this time. And he won’t do that passing 50 triangles between the keeper and centre backs. He’s welcome to Bazanu, Smallbone, Stephens etc though.

Fans forum with Wilcox and Parsons August 2023. It was in response to a fan’s question about Bazanu being statistically the worst by a mile in the PL the season before and therefore it was a priority to upgrade? Logical and reasonable query asked reasonably, widely applauded in the audience. That was the gist of his response although it omits the snippy tone. TBF, Martin could hardly have responded with ‘yeah, he’s dreadful isn’t he? Like sticking Sekou Mara in goal. Won’t make a Championship goalkeeper whilst he has a hole in his arse’ even though the truth, but he didn’t need to embellish it to say that he wasn’t already at the club he would be a priority signing for his footballing ability (ignoring basics like stopping shots, catching etc). Lets hope Spors and Still are a lot more honest with Dragan about SR’s vanity projects and the fact Gavin will need the bulk of his wages subsidised for the next two years at Exeter, Stockport, Barnsley or wherever he is loaned out. Not Cheltenham Town though, I’ve seen far too much of Gavin already.
-
Coming around to this perspective. He’s a level now above where Martin was and arguably still is tbh. And miles ahead of Nathan Jones. Rohl has the EFL experience Still doesn’t which is an advantage but even though Chansiri is a nutcase, some of Rohl’s press conferences have been a bit concerning. Only 4 years older as well, although more coachinh pedigree. It’s a moot point as he seems to be expecting a Bundesliga job this summer. Might be a bit ambitious from mid-table Champ even at a basket case club not to mention the hefty overall release package. EDIT - just seen the prospective Sheff Weds takeover. As we know all too well, American tycoon takeovers don’t always materialise, but might be worth him hanging around a few weeks to see.
-
Downes I agree, that would eat a lot of McKenna’s rebuilding funds to get near what Saints would want. THB despite how lousy he has been will still (no pun intended) have a market for around £30-35m. Play him alongside some experience and he’ll do ok for someone 8th-14th.
-
Can’t believe Bunsen and Beaker paid that much for him, although still a far better goalkeeper than Gavin will ever be.
-
Hopefully you’re right and we use the loans well. Downes worked although very much a Martin player, Brookes in patches, Rothwell so-so and THB was deferred a year if promoted.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Gloucester Saint replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
There’s some nuance inbetween as well. A couple of my friends would be in the Dissatisfied camp in that poll but they’ll probably still vote for them (Labour) next time because the Lib Dem’s are pro-EU, which they don’t like, the Tory turmoil made a horrible mess of the supply chain for one of their businesses and thinks Farage and Tice know zero about economics. The other one is ex-Team GB and has trained and competed with loads of medal winners from ethnic minorities who are global household names, for him Reform are the old BNP who would abuse his friends and former team-mates. English nationalist and pro monarchy but academically not Reform’s demographic at all. Shows you the contradictions and how tricky Brexit has made the political landscape. -
In which case, a top ten finish is the best Still can realistically achieve. Play offs would be very good to exceptional, automatic a long shot with Brum and Ipswich around. We’d be nowhere amongst the favourites on that spend. Especially if we’ve pulled £100m plus in. Need to be spending £50-60m minimum to compete top 4.
-
As a main striker I agree but nobody is taking him with his injury so hopefully next season he is a David Connolly contribution with cameos of important goals inbetween injuries. One year left so might as well use him if fit.

‘Accused’ by the worst leader of the opposition this country has ever seen, and when you’re worse than IDS or Corbyn (Hague was too young and up against Blair) then that’s really a low point for their party and paper. If the Mail is outraged, that’s probably a barometer that it’s not a bad initial deal. Pity Starmer didn’t go much further and burst a few blood pressures. Andrew Neil is well over the hill and far away, like Whelk, I wasn’t sure Littlejohn was with us any longer. Although at (only) 71, he’s actually a few years below the Tories average voting age. Maybe he votes Reform instead? Paper for old biddies.

Paid £4m to Luton for Nathan Jones….
-
If Rohl is clearly ahead of Still then it’s bonkers. If it’s more a tie breaker situation and they’re the top two then it’s a more reasonable variable. Personally I’d go for Steve Cooper but not SR’s cup of tea.
-
Agree, and also getting a good response from business https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgvp0wlnl3o Obviously I would like it to have gone much further in fixing the economic damage a hard Brexit has caused but it’s a compromise with the more reasonable Brexiteers. It won’t go down well with the ‘Two World Wars and One World Cup/Napoleonic Wars/No Surrender brigade but nothing would. The Tories are hilarious - Labour have just completed three trade deals in a week and all they mustered in 6 years was Truss’s Australian deal which utterly shafted UK agriculture and derided widely by her own party let alone anyone else. And that after they increased the size of the Cabinet Office to eye-watering level to facilitate all of those so-called deals.
-
Add in Stewart, Larios, and the University Medical and Sports Science Faculties are well in business. A few research grants from those three.
-
Technically correct In the sense we’ve not that many ooc, but plenty with a year or two left that will be on their way. Bazanu and Larios on heavily subsidised loans to League 1/League 2 and Spanish lower leagues respectively. Can’t see Gavin coming back for his final year unless he suddenly looks like an actual keeper and gets in that division’s team of the season. As Stewart is finally and staggeringly getting fitter (credit to him), might as well keep him around for the final year to be a David Connolly. Taylor or Manning will be on their bike on loan as they can’t both be competition to Wellington. Aribo and Bednarek will be off fairly early in the window (esp given the latter’s £6m release fee), probably Onachu as well. They’ll be a fair turnover already before the few desirable assets under contract - Fernandes, Ramsdale, Dibling and possibly THB (despite a shit season) - are moving on for the bigger fees. And Will Still shouldn’t be lumbered with problems and SR vanity projects like Bazanu, Larios, a million other left backs and some of the strikers who clearly don’t want to be at the club. Wrexham for example might fancy BBD and probably match what he’s on here if we keep the fee modest. Maybe AA if their owners push the boat out. At least give the bloke a bit of a cleaner slate to work with. Even if it means some very targeted writing off on wages and book values in places, SR needs to do it.
